To quote Ripley herself, "I hope you're right...I really do." But I will believe it when I see it. As much as I love the first two Alien movies, like you, I am so jaded by what's come after, that I have no confidence they won't screw it up. At this point, I don't think Hollywood can help themselves. I doubt this female lead will just be a strong character who just happens to be a woman (like Ripley), she will have to be an invincible girl boss that don't need no man. They just can't help themselves anymore, that's just the way modern writers think. It's normal for them. They have forgotten (or never knew to begin with) how to write a well-developed, believable, relatable character--regardless of gender or ethnicity. It's all about identity and THE MESSAGE. Again, I hope you are right, the tailer does look good. But I will believe it when i see it.

Making Alien a horror movie again Sounds like it might work

This trailer looks really good, but as I was watching this, all I could see is all the 'member berries'. Member the acid that ate through the floors in Aliens? Check. Member the egg room in Alien with the laser barrier? Check. Member the atmosphere processing station in Aliens? Check. Member what the Nostromo looked like on the inside and outside? Check and check. Member the sound of the movement tracker in Aliens? Check. Member the chest-burster? Check. Member Ripley and Newt being attacked by face-huggers. Check, check, check, check! Member Ripley and the alien in Alien 3? Check. And, of course, member the alien title card? Checkeddy, check, check! Everything in this trailer looks really good. But when a movie trailer relies so heavily on 'the feels' from previous movies, it's a warning sign to me. This feels kinda like The Force Awakens. A New Hope....but bigger! And Better! And Han dies like a little bitch, killed by his whiny-emo-bitch-Darth-Vader-wannabe son. This could be a really good movie with a new take on the franchise cleverly hidden from viewers in the trailer. It could also be a lazy rehash of previous movies. I hope it's the former, but I fear it's the latter. Apathy, thy name it Hollywood!

2 cents: I'm sure the containment field for the face huggers was controlled by the ship's systems. If it was a crash (whatever the catalyst), the containment field would have surely calapsed. Although, you'd think there would have been a safety measure linked to the emergency power.

I've been fooled by Prometheus and Covenant trailers before. DONT DO IT man. Stay strong.

oh man. the first time I saw that............thing jump out of someone's chest, I was hooked. It's been a long time, but I feel like I might just need to clutch that hole in my shirt and hope for the best horror we've had in a long ass time.

_Alien_ at its beginning was always a horror film that happened to be set in space. _Aliens_ turned the series into an action genre, and _Alien Resurrection_ tried to blend both but ultimately failed to garner much enthusiasm. And after the mess that was the _Aliens vs. Predator_ adaptation, Ridley Scott tried to lean hard into the action genre with his prequels. It seems the creative team behind this movie gets the original film for the first time in over forty years, and that's a good thing. We'll see.

I'm so excited about this movie, and that scares me. I don't know if i can handle getting my heart broke again. Pray to the xenomorph gods that they didn't ruin another alien movie.

I think we need a poll Thorias, would all the subscribers like to watch you roast Alien Vs Predator Requiem again... your first videos can't be worse than mine that's for sure. I got into making gaming videos and because I didn't know how to record game play on the PS3 I just pointed a video camera at my big screen TV and played Godfather 2. Good times. Not sure if you're into video games, or specifically horror video games, but a YT playthrough of Alien Isolation might be something you'd enjoy. Very much like the first movie.

Prediction: This is a continuation of Covenant. At the end of that movie, we saw David preparing to use the sleeping colonists to continue breeding xenomorphs. So what we have here is the same ship from Covenant. David has been busy growing more facehuggers, and we're starting off with the ship waking up replacement crew members for the ones who died off last movie. David is going to be the true enemy here just like was last time. Romulus is going to be _just_ as far up it's own ass as Covenant was.

I was about 16 when Alien came out and I whet to see it about 6 times and it never got old man that was on my all time fav movies. Then in 1982 a little movie called "The Thing" came out and it went to #2. I only hope this one can recapture that

Fede Alvarez has already done a remake/reboot before. Evil Dead. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was great. But I will say that he did nail the atmosphere, and shook things up a little by removing Ash and doing away with the campyness. I expect that this'll be something similar. Probably a hodgepodge of both Alien and Aliens.

Thankfully this is a standalone film - which is the direction these movies should've gone a lone time ago. Give up-and-coming filmmakers the chance to make their own, standalone Alien film. I'm actually looking forward to this - this and Nosferatu are my top two films to see this year. Alien and Aliens are two of my all-time favorites, so I can't help but get my hopes a little up.

The station they're on is divided into two sections. Romulus which is more evocative of Alien and Remus which is more Aliens. Also in the trailer you see a black chunk come through the field and apparently that's the Big Chap from Alien.

Well if you hated Prometheus be warned early in the trailer the android standing in the blue light is holding that black liquid from Prometheus. Also most of these face huggers could’ve been from David from the end of Prometheus 2.

In the same boat. Totally a call back, but with all the mismanagement of the Alien franchise I'm now cautiously optimistic as well.

I really want this film to be good and everything in it seems to be heading towards that, the director is good and the premise is good, the vibe of the film is very reminiscent of Dead Space and the original film and finally, the alien figure is not just a threat like in the films after the second one, he is scary and monstrous as he should be.

Seems cool and scary. I'm with Thorias on this one.

One of my greatest disappointments from Prometheus was a line first heard without context in the trailer that I thought would have a much more visceral + horrifying payoff: That screaming of "Cut it off! CUT- IT- OFF!!!"

Trailer is basically for me like, Remember this, remember this, remember this, remember, remember , REMEMBER

The real test is whether the new trailer is better than the original. It isn't. The trailer for Alien didn't reveal anything, used very sparse music to build tension, used no dialogue to build tension. The only way to resolve that tension was to watch the film. Romulus shows too much. We see face huggers, we see the xenomorph, we see people getting infected. The music in the new trailer is awful. The sound in the original added to the suspense. The music in the new trailer is distracting.

This one and Terminator somehow kept bringing the fans back for more with only 2 good movies and a bunch of mid to bad ones after that. That is kinda impressive.

This looks pretty sick to me. 45 years after the original and this looks like it’ll be more horror and suspense than action/thriller that the sequels failed at. Fedé is a really good director and having watched a few interviews of him discussing this film, he’s clearly a huge fan of the original. He knows what fans want and things we’d like to see, so to hear talk about the xenomorphs and facehuggers especially with such passion, gives me hope this film will be great. I’m excited. Prey was great as well.

My only question is why "Romulus"? In the Roman myth he was one of the founder twins, he killed his brother Remus to establish the Roman civilization. So is this hinting at the establishment of a Xenomorph empire?

It does look amazing, however, the Prometheus trailer was and still is incredible....and we know how that turned out. Even though Prometheus turned out to be ok after years passed. Still, this looks promising.

The one problem I had with Alien1 was that the so called business model Weyland-Yutani had.. If someone can tell how it made sense? I mean the expenses? What about the stock price? Hiring and sending a crew to space and just grab a lethal alien aboard WITH the result that the crew blows the whole ship up. Expenses anyone? Logic anyone? Perhaps the accountant was blown out of the airlock too? (So, unward with the monkey business, I suppose?)

I'll be honest, I enjoyed AVP Requiem. I know it's bad, but I still enjoy it for what it is.

It looks like a CW teenybopper version of the original Alien. The lead actress looks about 12 ffs. Alien and Aliens are both in my top 10 favourite films of all time. I even really like Alien 3. But i won't be in a rush to watch this at all.

Looks like Alien Isolation: live action. The aesthetics are on point but it's all been said and done. Characters are going to make it a modern classic... or a forgettable flop. And so far not one of the expendables we've seen or the Dollar store Ripley have impressed me.

As a long-time avid Alien fan myself, I feel like the last 2 movies destroyed the mythos. My headcannon lore fix. 0. Having xenomorphs be engineered is stupid. They're clearly ambush predators that work best in tight spaces, not open battlefields. Plus their egg longevity means you can never use that world again. You might as well build atop a field of nuclear landmines. Besides, the out of control bio weapon angle has been done to death and the notion of nature doing it better is more in line with the powerlessness and fear of the original films. 1. Let's go back to natural origins. Say Xenomorphs are native to a world that undergoes regular extinction cycles (perhaps its orbit takes it near an asteroid belt every few thousand earth years). The eggs last so long in order to wait for life to return. They incorporate the host form so they're always ready for new environments. Acid blood prevents vermin from eating the eggs before suitable hosts can re-evolve. This means that their homeworld can be anywhere, and if they haven't woken up yet in that cycle you'd never know they were there. It also means they don't have to be part of a balanced ecosystem. They are apocalypse survivors whose only concern is to eliminate all threats and produce as many eggs as possible before the next apocalypse, which in turn gives them a reason to be so vicious. Sustainability isn't a factor for them because their eggs can wait for a wasteland to become lush again. All they care about is wiping out all threats at any cost. 2. The Space Jockey's are experimenting with xeno DNA via the black goo, but xeno DNA is extremely good at reasserting itself, hence all the failures. 3. David may think he created the xenomorphs in their "perfect" form but all he actually did was strip away the Space Jockey tampering, thus allowing the original DNA to better assert itself. He's been patting himself on the back for something he has no idea he played no part in. ______________________________ -- Potential Mini-Series Plot -- A garden world full of life. A xenobiologists dream come true. So much variety! And beneath the surface paleontologists find even more variety of extinct species in their excavations. Thanks to the apocalypse cycle this world produces new species at ×10 the normal rate. The research opportunities are endless. But something is odd. The same "spike to the head" wound appears over and over on different species throughout the geologic columns, even through several apocalypse cycles. Eventually they uncover a network of caverns, and deep inside things start looking very different. There's more remains here than in the entire excavation, and the walls don't seem right. They discover fossilized nests with millions of eggs waiting. And since the next apocalypse is known to still be centuries away the humans had gone ahead and built numerous settlements on this world to exploit its research and resources (building massive infrastructure on a place about to go fubar would've been stupid, Hollywood 😑). So if the nests are planetwide then each settlement is sitting on a time bomb. It's a world too good to be true, with biological resources beyond imagining, hiding its darkest secret just beneath its inviting exterior.

As much praise as Aliens gets, James Cameron took the horror premise and crushed it to bits with hollywood action cliches. I doubt there'll be coming back from that, seeing all those xenomorphs gunned down. That's the thing I kinda liked with Alien3, a single xenomorph, hunting from the shadows.

I'm with you, Hollywood tries to remake beloved movies bc they're so creatively bankrupt. If you want to make another movie, that's fine. You can even take inspiration from said movie. Just don't try and recreate the movie. All they have to do is tell a different good story. And I don't think it will fail. What do I know? the latest two movies the fall guy&furiosa bombed and from what I hear, is they were good movies. There was really no bs woke messaging.

Romulus is absolutely going to bomb, checklist cast, no new xenomorphs, what a waste of an idea. At least Promethius, Covenant and Raised by wolves tried something different.

This looks more like a horror movie than a scifi action movie. The facehuggers have always bugged me more than the full size aliens. They creep me out... Are you gonna do anything with The Acolyte? Nothing much else going on right now it seems.

Besides all of the usual progressive tropes of, black and white couple, shaved headed lesbian, female lead, it looks like they tried to cross, The feel of Alien with the setting of Aliens.

I’ll go see it because I’m a sucker for Alien, and I’m starved for a cinema experience. Lots of member berries. Actors’ deliveries sound flat. The young chick with the big gun with the black guy cowering behind her is cringe. But production value looks great and it may deliver a few scares.

Why is the screen filled with your face while we're trying to watch it?

They already screwed up for it is looks like remember berries city and this film takes place in-between Alien and Aliens and so in truth it is going to be about characters that no one will give a damn about because after their story they are never mentioned or heard or seen ever again afterwards. I hope that the Xenomorph kills all of them for that would at least make sense and would showcase that the Xeno is very dangerous as well as deadly. But we all know that they are going to make an Ellen Ripley rip off and it just will not hit the same way especially with the hacks/activists running Hollywood these days. Also this is only the official trailer for it shows only the good bits for a reason and that is get you interested, but do not let the remember berries and nostalgia fool you for that is what these studios want and the sad thing is that say this film is good and then you find out it is got the Furosia treatment and it is all due to Hollywood's actions once again.

Sorry, looks crap, full of cliches. Agreed Alien is awesome but bettered by Aliens not least by the fact that the Alien is Alien is clearly a bloke in a suit. Alien 3 was crap but i thought Prometheus was ok apart from the cgi last few minutes... Needs Cameron to stop pissing about with friendly Aliens and get onboard !
