Wait how is prey story any different other than it was during a different time period. Don’t get me wrong I liked prey. Your argument has no merit, the predator is doing the same thing hunting and collecting trophies, name one thing the predator does in Prey that it doesn’t do in any of the other movies. Prey is just shot really well and you really fall behind the protagonist. Romulus is a stand alone movie that takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens off of a planet we’ve never heard off and on a space station in which half of it is a research facility. Thanks for your reaction I like listening to everyone’s interpretation. Personally I think this Alien movie is going to bring the excitement of horror back, I thought Aliens was an entertaining movie but all it was was a shootem up action movie, no sense of impending dread through out the whole movie.

I definitely see where you're coming from. Predator and Prey have very similar environments and the predator does have the same goal with collecting trophies. But for me, the differences are what you mentioned - the protagonist and the time period. You go into Prey wondering how she could ever have a real chance taking the predator on. The narrative explores that well but going into the movie beforehand, you have a lot of questions marks that make it exciting to explore. Not having the modern day weaponry, following a young woman trying to prove her worth as a hunter with the odds stacked against her, has so much narrative purpose and intrigue for me. It's a very different story from a group of epic, muscular men who shoot up a forest and get owned. Prey just didn't feel like something I had seen before. When it comes to Alien Romulus, I would love it to be great. And the fact that Fede Alvarez is directing gives me a lot of hope because I love what he's done. But just based on what I've seen in the trailer, it appears that there are a group of people on a ship, there's an alien on the ship, and they are getting owned by the aliens. That for me isn't presenting anything new to build on the franchise history. Again, it may have a really unique, epic story. I just didn't see that in the trailer. Thank you for your thoughts, hopefully this Alien movie does bring some excitement to sci-fi horror in a major way. Fingers crossed

@@TheMaxFlicks Thank your for your view. Maybe I'm just a horror buff lol. I love the tension build up and the anticipation of what kind of horrible death the protagonist may or may not suffer. With prey you know she is going to survive, please dont tell me people though she was going to die, it was just a matter of how she survives Prey falls under more of a scifi adventure movie than a scifi thriller or horror for me. I know I have the unpopular opinion of Alien 3 Assembly Cut being fantastic, a sense of dread through most of the movie and the fact Ripley does what she does at the end could not have been what people thought was definitely going to happen. At the end its about what people want, I want to be on the edge of my seat as long as possible through the movie, the darker the more tense and I love that. Even if its always about a group that is trying to survive a situation they find themselves in. ;) Thanks for your replys and thoughts again. I am subscribing.

@@avkalyan2000this doesn’t really help as a counter as strong as the OP had constructed, but I see this movie as a mashup of all the best parts of the franchise. The cinematography alone shot my excitement through the roof and knowing it’s Álvarez directing makes me so ecstatic. The last shot calling back to Alien 3 I didn’t really care for much, but the director played Alien Isolation and posted his collection of Alien books that inspired this movie. The franchise needs horror put back into it, and Álvarez demanded a lot when it came to the creative freedom of this production. He won’t be holding back. The shot that interested me the most was the acid blood in zero gravity. You can tell there’ll be sequences of action, and the special effects look amazing. I’ve seen nothing but great feedback from casual movie watchers excited to see this film. The ships crashing, the new tools and equipment, and the only mixed aspect I’ve seen is that the main protagonists are in their mid 20’s. Although having a new setting elevates the movie in its independence, especially as a prequel or interquel (like Saw X which also had the best elements of the franchise put into one as well as the antagonist/protagonist flip), I truly do believe this would revive the franchise even if it does just have most of the things we’ve seen before, because it’d give opportunity for more which would likely a lot more to offer in independence. Funny enough, I’d point to the first two Evil Dead movies as the second is basically soft reboot of the first, leaning into the elements that made the first so great, and its hailed as the best and most beloved in the franchise. Álvarez’s take was a remake with different characters and backstories, but still the same general premise. He mainly got rid of the comedy and made it solely horror, and there hasn’t been an entry like this since the first (unless you include Isolation, which also applies to these points). What I love about this trailer so much is the lack of spoilers, with the exception of the facehugger madness. Álvarez is a true fan of the franchise, so I have no doubt that this will really stand on its own.
