I dunno, I feel like people constantly assume Rick and Morty is being more self aware than it actually is. Dan is for sure the more deep thoughtful type but Justin is just the opposite so it's hard to tell when it's being composed or nonsensical.

Good episode but that headphone commercial at the end is a bit misleading. Open back and closed back headphones are different yet the positives of closed back ones are presented even though an open back one is advertised. I don't know if massdrop wrote the lines but whoever did, did goof up. Probably is a good product nevertheless by the way...

Thanks for your comment - just looked into it further and I think you might be right. We've added language in the description to clarify. We do use these (and love them!) in the office, and find them pretty immersive even in our small space, but we do want to be clear! I'm pretty sure Rick and Morty is what happens after cartoonists/comedians get high and binge watch pop-philosophy videos. Throw in enough ideas you've cribbed from others (that you don't really understand), always remain sarcastic/aloof in your commentary, and people will assume that it's clever and ignore how little sense it makes. But hey, at least it's funny.

Could you give an example of how they don't understand certain ideas? Their interpretation of (and experimentation with) a lot of philosophical concepts is actually really well done in my opinion. And most people are aware that the point is not to be clever, it's to be funny and entertaining. "always remain sarcastic/aloof in your commentary, and people will assume that it's clever and ignore how little sense it makes." - It's ironic how well that describes your comment.

I counter that with, "nobody exists on purpose," cause what you said is what I thought too till I heard that line. "Nobody belongs anywhere" is pretty good too, but I must admit that's not a new idea. It's at least as old as Thomas Wolfe's You Can't Go Home Again, and probably so old it appears in medieval Japanese fairy tales. But nobody exists on purpose, meaning nobody exists by their own purpose (or, nobody was so clever as to will themselves into existence because they just had to get some super important thing done) therefore nobody has ultimate authority, is a new idea as far as I know.

Well, now that you're into TV shows... I know you did the South Park movie, but maybe you could do the South Park series as a whole, or perhaps some of the individual seasons or key episodes? When I first saw the show, I was horribly offended and didn't think it was anything I ever wanted to watch, but it didn't take long for me to realize that there's a lot under the surface. Some of the most thought-provoking episodes I've seen include the homeless/zombie one ("keep pushing the homelessness problem off to another area!"), the flood that Cartman caused ("we can't help anyone until we figure out who to blame!"), the old people driving episode (a very good look at how our culture shoves old people to the side and makes them feel worthless), the anime one (which covers some of the issues you already covered in the episode about the movie), and the one where Slave out-whores a whorish celebrity (parents, if your children are idolizing horrible people, and you're enabling this behavior, you're doing something wrong!). I'd love to hear your take on the series and its key points over the years.
