I'm still surprised how dumb Hollywood must be to not make a bunch of movies around the Elijah Bailey character. The books are so good and with so much cinematic potential.

@Ian M. Well Ian we have no idea what effects to the timeline Garyx’s has caused by having these videos be sent back in time to us. For all we know his universe doesn’t exists anymore, but we don’t know yet because it hasn’t happened yet.

My grandma bought me this movie for my bday when I was about 9 or 10 and i watched it so many times as a movie to put in when I would lay down to fall asleep and I always loved this movie and I love her It's such a random movie to give to a young kid but I'm thankful she did movies like this hot fuzz shoalin soccer the rundown collateral rush hour that made me like different types of movies and how you can appreciate different styles genres and the ranging impact a movie cam have on you.

Yeah, they did change the story a lot from the 1950. They should have stuck with the book where the three super computers win, and the humans decide that maybe humanity really is better off with robots in charge. Especially since pretty much all of Isaac Asimov's Robot books take place after "I, Robot," showing how humans were indeed better off. Technology shot forward by leaps and bounds after that. Dr. Susan Calvin (the robot psychiatrist) lives to see faster than light travel and the colonization of worlds. Instead we got "Who Framed Roger Robot?"

It’s weird, I watched this movie a dozen time when it came out. (still have the dvd) I never got over the fact that the movie isn’t as smart as it thinks it is but man it is still fun as hell! And heck this is the early 2000s, I always thought if this movie didn’t have it’s typical “Hollywood” happy ending then this would have been a perfect prequel to the Matrix movies lol Still a guilty pleasure movie of mine : )

It was Asimov's editor who decided to name the short story series 'I, Robot', much to the dislike of Asimov who felt that it did not give sufficient credit for the title to another sci-fi writer: Otto Binder. Binder's short story about Adam Link has been adapted twice for episodes of The Outer Limits, both of which had Leonard Nimoy playing a role alongside Adam.

I disagree. The Spacer worlds, which use robots in great numbers in the Elijah Bailey novels, exemplify a humanity that loses their ability to fulfill their own potential through the removal of adversity--something some of the robots even believe is part of what it means to be "human." The galaxy is ultimately colonized by a (nearly) robotless Earth, not the robot-using Spacer worlds, and this leads into the Empire novels. Asimov seemed to love his robots, and believed technology was ultimately a positive for the human race, but no new technology is without its consequences--the theme of this movie. We should use technology, but use it wisely, and recognize its costs as well as its benefits.
