Incredible that a 42 mins fan film made on some old unreal engine by 2 people can be many times better than the millionaires 'Prometheus' and 'Covenant'
Prometheus and Covenant are excellent This is a cartoon and doesn’t even line up with Alien - Amanda was a fat old lady - the only thing she shared with Ripley was she was a real cat lady in Wisconsin.
i didnt expect a lot when I clicked on the video but this definetely surpassed my expectations. the whole thing was really athmospheric and captured the fealing of the first movie really well. I also liked the use of the original music and the voiceacting. the story also was unique enough to not be super cliche while still having the classic alien moments we all want to see. overall I really enjoyed this film please keep it going :))
I like the "Rogue One" leading into episode 4 concept, and nice graphics. But, like I've mentioned to a few fan film makers, try a different approach as well; the female thing is played the heck out, and when there's more than one character we already know who won't die.
Yes. You are right. But this was a big project and I did all the work by myself (except the convertion form the game into the software). For me it was clear form the beginning, I can't animate multiple persons in a scene, because this would have been so time consuming, to get the quality I watned. So I decided to have a sole survivor ...
Ok so....to be perfectly honest, i think there are some problems in a few areas, especially about the Alien's attitude that i find a little too human. But man.....this is gonna be THE iclone reference for a quite a while !!! The cinematography, the mood...this is mature work. Knowing how iclone can be a pain in the derriere to work with, this level of achievement is pretty glorious. So bravo ! and thanks for the inspiration you give to iclone users !
Thanx for the comment. Please watch the first movie and you'll see the alien is walking on two foots like a human. Cameron changed this in the second movie, because he wanted the aliens more animal like ...
Well, i'm an "old man" so i've watched "Alien" on VHS and saw "Aliens" in theaters... and you're right. This is one of the cool things about this creature : taking the biological attributes of the host. When I said "little too human", it was not related to the fact that it was on its two feet, but more of the general behavior....that's how i received the proposition after one watch. So yeah, i guess i'm more of a fan of the "animal" versions of the two (good) sequels ! Anyhow, congratulations for all that you've accomplished with this project. I know what it's like to work on an animation movie as a "multitask machine". Like i said, i think it will be an inspiration for people who want to use iclone to produce strong material. Cheers !
Absolutely fantastic! I loved everything about this film! The atmosphere, the tension, and it was creepy too! I loved how you introduces the xeno... e p i c!
I write this message to the whole team: You, people, nailed it. This is IT. This is a true ALIEN movie. It has the grit, mystery, tension, drama, tempo, FANTASTIC use of music, understanable character that I couls relate to and the spirit of the original from 1979! Animation, writing, camera work, lightning, Waters using tools, weapons and her surroundings to survive. My only ×2 "but" is Waters going all WWE (scene with chair). but since her opponent was weakened by the shotgun blast and explosion,I suppose he could have fell to the chair hit :) Second, why didnt the Alien "finish the job" in when he had the occasion? Other than that, it's perfect. I still can't believe my luck to find this fantastic movie. Thank you for making this!!! Now, take this 500 000 000 $ and have fun. :)
That was actually pretty good. The only complaint I have is that Emily knocked the Zeno unconscious with a chair was completely ABSURD!! Great With keeping the Ridley Scott's style and atmosphere with Jerry Goldsmith original score though.
Thanx. There is a 4K upscale version with new color correction. And I edited out the infamous "chair" scene, because this was a mistake ... Here is the link to that version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6U71HhnzPsU.html
Man lots of harsh comments for a fan vid. I enjoyed it, a few hokey parts but overall it was fun. I'm a big fan of Alien Isolation though... borrowed a lot from that which is cool.
Rene Jacob's The Message definitely deserves an A for effort along with clear appreciation of the ALIEN mythos & enthusiasm for this project which while imperfect has a decent concept & is far from the worst ALIEN short ever, featuring several nice touches, including being a prequel of sorts to the original ALIEN (1979) film, demonstrating fighting spirit, showing an unassisted human dominating a Xenomorph & more. Attentive viewers will note the use of several cool graphic models et al goodies including a cassette tape/deck. And is it just me or did much of the graphic rendering look eerily similar to Silent Hill 2 for the PS2? In any case, The Message isn't perfect but I believe that for ALIEN fans it's worth a screening.
Amazing. They spent 3 years of their life to make and build this great film. Then they give it away for free. Now that’s a true labor of love. You guys did great. It was very entertaining And get compliments the original very nicely. I truly hope you guys are going to make another one. I can watch the stuff all day long
I am on a new series for youtube. You can watch a small teaser on my channel. But I won't go back to the "Alien" frnachise. I made that movie. It was my dream to do an "Alien" movie, I did it, I enjoyed it, but now I am going to other stories ...
This is really good, some movements of expressions and design reminds me of the early 2000s games which I enjoyed so it is not initially a bad thing. The voice acting performance is well done and believable. The ship built has a good feel size and makes it all real. I enjoyed the entire film.
Suspense achieved! That's hard to do, so cool to see it done by an amateur, nice work! Kinda frowned with the chair scene and the Alien should have been bigger but still superb scenes. The film achieves what many professional film makers can't seem to do, that is, create real suspense, and you had me glued, that's awesome, thanks for making it!
Thanx for your kind words. Concerning the "chair scene". There is a newer version of the movie, without this scene, new color correction and upscaled to 4K. You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6U71HhnzPsU.html
@@direx1974 Awesome! And thanks for your suspenseful film! Enjoyed it! Brilliant ending where she has to muster the courage to actually charge the alien is superb, and the chair scene takes away from that conclusion.
There is a new version of this film online. It's a 4K upscale for better picture quality here on youtube und I reedited the "chair" scene. It's gone in the new version and so I think the action at the end is a bit more plausible. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6U71HhnzPsU.html
Well I think maybe some people like me when they got in to 3D (I started with Maya) that one day to produce something like this. Just to get to this level would be a dream of mine. I got in to watching this like I do on some of my Netflix SCI FI things I watch. This would be a contest winner thats for sure. Many thumbs up to this amazing and very entertaining production! 👍👍👍
There are some incredibly asinine comments on this video. The size of her breasts has no reflection on her as a character or the decision made by the film maker. Only a reflection of your immaturity. I don't see women sci-fi nerds complaining about the size of male characters cod pieces. And if you're not into 3D animation I guess you're not a fan of any science fiction or super hero movie released in the last 25 years. This is a fantastic effort, and you did an exponentially better job that that awful Alien Isolation "film" series that they hosted on IGN's youtube. That was awful. This could almost be a commercial film if it were feature length and had more characters and narrative.
Impressive work, as always. But why borrow from "Alien"? Why not create your own Sci fy story. It might be easier then you think and much more rewarding.
I wanted to do a "Alien" movie once in my life and this is it. There won't be any other ventures in this universe. I am currently working on a new project wich will be a complete new brand ...
Luvved it immensely even though i watched this on my phone I was listening thru my headphones and it was brilliant i felt all the emotions and suspence you guys did a great job, this is a great prequel to the alien franchise I'm subbing now I hope there's more to come cheers from 🇦🇺👍
What an absolutely phenomenally incredible animated rendition of this absolutely iconic movie. You guys have done an absolutely superb job, this is incredible work. Thank you so much. Subscribed 🌌
Amazingly good animated sci-fi horror video and story, minus her hitting the alien xenomorph with the stool and knocking it out unconscious which was a bit corny and like a WWE video game. Other than that, I loved the cat and mouse scene and when she was running throughout the corridors, the suspense got intense cause I thought there were going to be another xenomorph waiting in ambush for her and that was going to be the ending of this video. Still was the scene were she got injured by the backlash of her shooting the xenomorph which its acidic blood splashed on her face and body and seriously injured her and again I thought that was going to be the end of her which the level of horror raised up! For every time it seem she was going to meet her demise, the horror, thrills and suspense got good, excellent work 🎬👏👏👏👍.
This is truly brilliant!! The plot, atmosphere and characterisation are just right. Not to mention the outstanding FX Staying close to the original Alien vibe but different enough to stand out on it's own merit. Well done!!!
Wow!!! Very good! I'm impressed. He managed to capture the same atmosphere as the first film. Even with few resources, it is more exciting and dynamic than Prometheus and Covenant. Congratulations. More! More! More!
WOW. Absolutely amazing. Simple and sweet. This gives me hope. How many would have paid a fee to see this. I know if I had paid. I would not be disappointed. Thank you. May I ask how long it took you to create this. Start to finish.
Thanx. I did everything from scratch. Except the enviroments, which were ripped from the game "Alien Isolation". But it was really hard work to get the ripped files back together to use them in iClone. There is no easy way, never was ...
Absolutely AWESOME!!! Thumbs up guys. But, 200 years into the future, FTL space travel and all that, and we still have a good old tape recorder with a cassette :-) Awesome :)
This was a fantastic short, except for the chair knocking out the Alien....just totally killed the immersion....The Alien is far stronger than human beings..so much so that being hit by even a steel chair would only stop it for a second...it definetly wouldnt of knocked it out. Parker in the Alien movie, who was a big man tried to physically attack the alien and he got whacked rather quickly....other than that glaring problem the rest of it was excellent. I liked the back story and the reason for her being in hibernation, and I like that she was able to finally explore the planet, even though it might have only been for a few hours. Without the "Chair Incident" I give this a 9/10....with the "Chair Incident" I give it a 5/10.
Awesome! I've finished Alien Isolation in VR just a month ago. So this was a perfect extension to my „Alien experience“. Well done. Thank you very much!👍🏼
I've seen "Covenant" and I was so angry about this ... movie. I thought to myself: "I can do this better ..." That was the motivation to do this movie ...
Your Covanate bull shit just got you a question mark for the three years of you and your people's roaming around town as protesters looking for other people's personal Buissness like you were the pros testing the Covanate!
Excellent work. You must have had a great time making the film. Congratulations on a great effort. However, before Reallusion get 'all over this' and start blabbing on that iClone is the most awesome software for movie production, it isn't. It is getting 'better' slowly but has not yet passed 'good pre-visualisation' standard. Reallusion continue to promote it as video production software and using that as an excuse to fracture their product line into an unintelligible mess of products that constantly increase in cost and then vanish (or morph into something else that you can't upgrade and have to buy again). To anyone who thinks they can grab iClone and go make a great movie, you can't. You would be well advised to check out all the components/software that you need (and good luck working that out from the information on the Reallusion site), testing the quality level for your purposes and then factoring in the possibility that what you have based all your work on might just completely disappear without warning, need upgrading or some 'new' component in the near future, determine if it's right for you and your budget. Reallusion use what they call a "WIP' release model, which means they allude to the upcoming features of a product and ask you to start paying for it before it's released ,and before you know what it can actually do. Their descriptions are written in a 'version' of English that is hard to understand, misleading or just plain unintelligible. It can be an expensive hobby to produce fairly low quality outcomes. Aside from all that, well done, you have really pushed it to its best. Hopefully, one day you will be supported by some excellent software that will allow you to really express your talent.
Thanx for your comment. Even when it reads like a reckoning about Reallusion. I don't have the problems you adress here and I can manage the flaws iClone has. There is no flawless software and you'll always have to deal with problems. Reallusion is a small company and they doing their best to get the software working. I know, somtimes they abandon some parts of the software package in fafour of new solutions. That's not nice, but Reallusion is not the only company on this planet doing this. iClone has one purpose. To create movies with a realtime 3D engine. All the tools are designed to achieve this goal. No other 3d engine can offer you this. Look at unreal for instance. In my opinion they have a UI from hell. The engine is powerful, but the learning curce is high. I am no 3d artist, I'll never be one. I am a filmmaker. I wan't to tell good stories and believe it or not, iClone 7 gives me the ability to do so ...
I’m impressed by the effort for sure... well done ... but this chick would have been dead 50 times over in this... and no way a Xenomorph gets knocked out with a chair. Lol. Impressed none the less. The use of the classic music was fantastic.
I followed your project since you published your first teasers and WOW! I am busy with my own project now and know how much efforts it takes to put this gigantic puzzle pieces together. I wish Reallusion had published the new HumanShader when you started the project and your protagonists would have looked even more realistic. I can only repeat: WOW! I keep my fingers crossed that Reallusion will give you a treat for your brillant work.
a fleshed out version of this would have been better than prometheus, the alien looked great and i even jumped at one part, the only part that where i was like nah was where an injured woman knocks a xenomorph out with a chair, perhaps if she had knocked it off balance with the chair, then another smack he goes down, then she batters him with it about 20 times in a roaring frenzy i might have bought it, its a small nitpick though from a really nice little fan movie, well done
THIS SHOULD BE ALIEN 3. THIS IS SO UNBELIEVABLE! NOW THIS IS HOW A PREQUEL IS DONE. (YOU USED MUSIC FROM ALIEN AND OUTLAND ANOTHER GOOD FILM) .I AM MOVED THIS IS VERY GOOD STORY TELLING. THANK YOU.
I would say this is probably the scariest film about the xenomorph certainly since ALIEN and ALIENS. The atmosphere is just terrifying and I'm as anxious watching this as I was playing ALIEN:ISOLATION. Your time and effort has produced something that could easily have followed as a sequel. It's certainly gained it's place in the Alien universe. I would go so far as to say that I would pay to watch this in a movie theatre. A great use of Jerry Goldsmith's scores of ALIEN and OUTLAND. A big well done to everyone involved. On RU-vid no-one can hear you scream.
I *_do not believe_* you could escape a xenomorph by hiding under a desk (as the heroine does repeatedly). Given that xenomorphs have no eyes, the fact that, while under a desk, she was out of it's line of sight is meaningless. Logic dictates xenomorphs must have acute senses of smell and hearing to compensate, plus other possible senses such as sensitivity to vibration. To a creature with a sensory array of this type, her presence would have been utterly obvious. She wouldn't have fooled it for a second. That being so, the entire premise of this movie fails right there.
All this was very much inspired by the video game Alien Isolation (many sound effects come from the game as well as sets) where the player is Amanda Ripley, Ellen's daughter. The game is (really) terrifying and if you ever get the chance to play it (which you definetly should unless you have a heart condition) you will hide a lot under desks, tables and inside lockers to escape the xenomorph.
I def hear you on that esp the whole vibration theory, always had my own thoughts about how the xeno perceived it's surroundings. A type of sonar for one, but a lot off this does come from the isolation game in which you do have to hide in or under anything you can find.
Oh my god. Can't you incels just appreciate the skill and effort it took to make something like this? Of course not because you spend all day being a pedant instead of creating anything of value
Wow! As A Huge ALIEN Fan, I'm well impressed. It fills in a nice little gap giving your explanation as to why the Nostromo was diverted, with special orders (crew expendable), and you've put a lot of work into the production and story line. One critisim. When the alien is running, especially around corners, it is too upright, itdoesn't look 'natural'. But you've done a fantastic job. Bang tidy.
Is this original 3D images or from a video game. It's very good. I'm working on my own Isolation fan film and couldn't imagine how much effort went into this. Well done.
(me energically clapping hands).. most impressive: scene at 29:30 not only perfectly matches the original frame by frame. you got it even far more intense. never seen such dedicated work before.. they should have let you run the whole prequel-chapter of the franchise instead of ridley scott.. damn, now i#m feeling watched and hunted for the rest of the day.. FLAWLESS WORK
How cool! Opening titles using the music of Jerry Goldsmith (composer for the original 1979 film) was originally composed for Outland (1981), apparently part of the same "Alien" universe. I highly recommend that film as well.
Three years in the making, The Message is a definite high point of the Iclone 7 life cycle. The story is a cat and mouse game very similar in tone to the original 1979 film with perhaps even more of the horror vibe thrown in. Its claustrophobic and tense with phenomenal sound design incorporating some of the original soundtrack and sound cues and has very good voice acting and loads of atmospheric foley. Set design and lighting also stand out with the interior of the spaceship feeling real and loaded with details and nooks and crannies for the protagonist (and the Alien) to hide within. The sets were riddled with late 70's analog technology that helped set the tone of the original film and they were flawlessly lit with flashing strobes, deep shadows and slimy surfaces all looking pitch perfect. I never saw any of the seams you might find in an Iclone feature like pass through, stilted animations or shot selection that is likely hiding some transgression. Instead the production drags you in and holds you for the 40+ minute runtime. Searching for critiques I felt the camera was a bit too active at the beginning but seemed to settle down a bit as the film progressed and the Alien was a bit too anthropomorphic running and jumping around like an action movie badass. That said, animating the motions of a human are hard enough but animating an imaginary creature must be more than a little bit difficult. Overall, file this in the Must See list.
