57 years after Ellen Ripley had a close encounter with the reptilian alien creature from the first movie, she is called back, this time, to help a group of highly trained colonial marines fight off against the sinister extraterrestrials. But this time, the aliens have taken over a space colony on the moon LV-426. When the colonial marines are called upon to search the deserted space colony, they later find out that they are up against more than what they bargained for. Using specially modified machine guns and enough firepower, it's either fight or die as the space marines battle against the aliens. As the Marines do their best to defend themselves, Ripley must attempt to protect a young girl who is the sole survivor of the nearly wiped out space colony.

Whenever someone says men just hate “strong female leads” I refer them to this movie. Ripley’s arc is one of the best characters of all time. She starts off a little terrified mouse but by the end she’s going into the nest loaded up like Rambo, all with maybe 20 minutes of official combat training. Her strong “female” presence is completely natural and not forced *at all.*
@v8matey

Another strong supportive lead is Officer Anne Lewis. From Robocop. She literally drives into a firing squad to rescue Robocop. Gets kicked 1 story high off a platform onto a railway sleepers (wood posts) KO some dude in the police station. And takes 3 bullets at the end an still survives for Part 2 of Robocop.

her being a hero is literally forced. She survived Alien because the filmmakers knew no one would expect the woman to survive. Using Ripley as an example of Hollywood having female heroes is incredibly ignorant.

@@JamesD2957i disagree, her acting is very genuine, she reminds me of a motherly teacher. I have worked with a lot of women in a variety of tough industries and ripley’s character is spot on for all the successful women in leadership roles that people will work for. The unapproachable girl boss trope you see now days usually leads to employees going to hr over and over again until that woman gets fired. The Columbia disaster had a woman in charge ground side that refused to let the astronauts check to see if there were holes in the shuttle and it blew up. Thats how modern feminism is arrogant and stupid

This whole sequence is just one example of Cameron's genius level script writing. Flying back into the reactor is like going back to hell itself. At the last minute Ripley is finally gifted with the possibility of love and a normal life with Hicks, adding to the magnitude of the scene. In the elevator she prepares with determination, but when she brushes her hair back and takes a breath you can see she is nervous as hell, and scared out of her wits. Once the elevator lands, she's arrived at the very heart of her worst fears. There is nowhere to go but forward.

This shows Ripley's growth as a character fighting the xenos. Remember, she didn't want to go back to LV-426. So, when Apone and Dietrich got taken she still wanted to get away as far as possible from the xenos. It was Newt that rikindled her hope and her fighting spirit. All began to fully change for Ripley after the facehugger incident in the medical bay.

what makes this scene spectacular on a technical level is the use of rear projection from 2:53 in the background to make it look like the elevator is descending - in reality it's just a still set that isn't moving at all, then switches to a minature model of the elevator going down to complete the illusion of it moving down. This kind of hidden sfx shows just how much of a genius Cameron is in using different mediums & tech to achieve different types of effects.

They even do this deal with Animes, there are times when older technology can be better than the modern technology... DVDs in that case might still be a better deal than the Bluray if you go for physical medias on that movie, I hope it helps...

My dude, you do realize that James Cameron is WOKE af, right?That is exactly why we even had Aliens in the first place. 20th Century Fox execs did NOT want a WOMAN to be the protagonist of the sequel to Alien. They suggested that they hired a MAN as a protagonist so that they could compete against the likes of a Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Because historically, women were not a huge draw in action movies. But James Cameron refused to cast a man as the lead. And insisted to have Sigourney Weaver as the lead. And he even threatened to quit the project if they kept trying to make him cast a male actor. James Cameron then went on to make the Avatar movies which are also WOKE as f*ck. So please quit trying to push your culture war garbage here. People just want to watch a damn video in peace.
