Great video. At 27mins when the barricade was removed the Alien swarm was revealed. As this was the 1st time your marines saw the Aliens and they are adjacent to you when revealed you therefore wouldn't get a defensive roll.
I have just finished assembling the miniatures........my eyes hurt....lol. Just started to watch your 2 year old video. Entertaining and great quality. It must be hard to get such a complex rule set exactly right, so well done for tackling this one. Yes, you may have made rule errors, although I can't say that you have as I have only just started reading the rules, but it still gives a good foundation for learning. Well done sir.
Much appreciated! Yes, i got a few wrong here and there, but i always figure that as long as the experience runs smoothly and is enjoyable to people playing the game then über rule enforcement isn't always nessecary. Glad you enjoyed it though!
When you open the barricaded door the blip is not in line of sight with any of your marines as the walls are in the way. You need a laser pointer to show you as you cannot reveal blips until they are seen.
The spawn point 4 cannot been seen as your marines are not directly in front of the door. Red tinted square. So the door is closed and the xenomorph are blips. I enjoy your play through. This extended version with only drawing 2 MT is tough imagine drawing 4 MT cards a turn. 🤯
Thanks for that, and yes i've not had the chance to play this with a huge group of players, but i'm pretty convinced that the extra motion tracker cards would make it way more difficult even with other hero characters!
At 27:48 you say, character will die on a 9 or 10 due to swarm malus +1. The rules say, you got killed on 10 or higher. So for me it sounds, that the swarm size only affects the die if you pass or don't pass the defense roll. And you only get killed by a 10+. Am I wrong?
good day, on the flamethrower card it says hit 7 and to me it means that the aim wheel is used for the smart gun or pulse rifle for the flamethrower, the aim wheel is not used
I looked at the Bug Hunt Missions such as Barracks that has the airlock YET I don't see anywhere to place the Alien Queen. Wouldn't she be in that gameplay as we are supposed to add all of the Alien Queen cards in the Motion Tracker deck? Where would the Queen go on the board? is it a mistake? am I wrong?
Looks like the best video so far when it comes to following the rules with the extended play options. One small thing. Blips all move based on the result of a single die roll. You don't have to roll for each. Should speed things up a bit. I'll be checking out your channel. Great job!
Actually, you are wrong. The roll applies to all blips on the same tile of the board. So you have to roll multiple times if they are on different tiles.
If you mean the Gorman move. Gorman would have triggered it when he went by the door causing it to open. He simply didn't pause reveal then continue Gorman. He just finished Gorman and then did the reveal instead. I'm just guessing you meant at 33:00
Love your video. I am a bit confused about the expansion pack though. it's the order of the Missions. You have Newt listed as 1, Escape is listed as 2, Survive is 3, Sulaco is 4. Then we have the option for Retrieve. My question is where does the APC fit into all this? It says Mission 5 on it's card. It's not even listed on the rule page book of the newly extended campaign. If you want to be thematic wouldn't the fireteam get in the APC after Escape? As in the film? on the APC card it even says if you complete this mission you can move on to the next one. If Sulaci is supposed to be the last one... and you play APC what mission would come after? Does anything I'm saying make sense? I'm trying to figure out when to play APC chase. thank you
I was playing the expanded game Queen's Gambit. So I was curious when you have let's say three Alien tokens and one alien model attacking let's say Hicks. And in the defense roll, Hicks rolls the correct amount for the Melee. Does rolling that correct Melee number kill all four Aliens or just one. If so do you then continue to attack and defend off each of the other three? Also what do you do when the Alien Queen attacks and you roll the Melee. Does it kill her o do you just place a damage token on her? The instructions were not too clear. I would love your feedback. Great videos too by the way.
When you have a swarm (3 tokens and 1 model in your example) you would add the amount of tokens to the number rolled on the dice, so even if you roll the melee value on the dice, you have to add the tolen total to it which would push it over the melee value. Even if you did make the melee value, you only remove 1 xenomorph from the stack. As for the queen, when you make a hit you put a damage token on her for every hit you make, including for a successful melee hit.
can someone explain why at 28:24 Hicks doesn't take defensive fire? the moving aliens moved with 3 and the other within 4 of him. do you only get to do defensive fire once per alien turn? or is it once per moving aliens?
Because defensive fire can only be played when an alien is about to attack. Here they only moved in range but didn´t perform an attack (as they still where to far away to do so), so no defensive fire is triggered. TLDR: Defensive fire is only applied before an alien can actually reach a character and attack it in the same turn.
Oh Cool 👍🤓 And thank you for playing my favorite game !! ( from my favorite movie) I can't afford it yet , working on that . I will most definitely enjoy your videos ! Keep up the good work 👍
Yes there is, personally figured thats for when there are mutliple players, otherwise you couldn't move your whole team. Plus i don't think it really adds anything to the game as a rule on its own.
@@wombatwargaming1634 probably just makes it harder to run away or fight the aliens. Ahahahh. Thanks for the clarification, great video, i have a lot of fun watching it and it's because of people like you that it's way easier to learn how to play these boardgames
Since you can't draw LoS through characters, The order of operations flexibility you gain from being able to order grunts around can be handy in tight spaces. Since you are controlling Ripley, it has no effect. Grunts move after all characters, so you played it correct.
So many wrong rules. Line of sight is not just black lines it is actual lines to line sight with the squares (check out rules and any other video for this game on you tube) . The Aliens would be hidden behind the boxes on the first turn. When you use continuous fire it is only for the stack of Aliens you are attacking you cannot then move onto another stack/model. To do that would be a 2nd action but you basically gave Ripley 3 actions. I came here hoping for some rule validation but stopped watching after so many rule blunders so quickly on the very first action and turn. The video itself was of fair quality and you have a nice manner and delivery but you need to make sure that you are more aware of the rules before you post them online.
You say the blips shouldn’t have been revealed in the first area but I can’t see any dark black bars blocking LOS, only white lines that block movement not LOS. Can you clarify?
