I was 11 when I saw the original, in the the theater, in 1979. I talked my parents into it for weeks before it opened. "It's just a movie," I told them. "I'll be fine," I told them. "I'm ready for R ratings," I told them.... Yeah.... Jump-cut to me, after the chest-burster does its thing, spending half of the next hour in the f***ing lobby, quivering and pissing my pants. Literally did not sleep from 1979 to 1981.
The Universal Studios version of the Frankenstein Monster (flat head, bolts in the neck) is easily more iconic. Versions of have been showing up in movies, TV, comics, and animation for over 90 years. I'd argue that the Creature from the Black Lagoon is at least as iconic as the Xenomorph/Alien. Again, it's been in all sorts of media since it was introduced in the 50s.
I went thru a Bob Burns discovery phase around 2007. Bought his book and listened to several of his full length dvd audio commentaries on classic Sci-Fi/Horror films. God bless him, I love me some Bob Burns 💯
Man, I am officially jelaous. If only I had ONE of these original Alien Props. The orig. Designs Head or the miniature Queen - OMG. One lucky man he is.
Mate passes over to your house to borrow something, you say no problem just go grab it, you'll find it in the basement the light switch is on the right 😂😂😂😂😂😂
an awesome incredible collection, but also an awesome guy! so glad this lovely man was who they chose to keep the props. such knowledge respect and admiration is wonderful see
Yeah I'm kind of pissed about a part of that. The guys who restored the Nostromo mentioned that it had been left out in the elements for 20 years and had a lot of water warpage. About 10 years ago I was on a forum and someone posted the derelict ship and it was in poor shape as well. Don't know what happened to that. >:(
Something must have changed....maybe he got permission to pass some of these on after restoration. The nostromo makes sense as it was deteriorating outside so better to get it restored and in a museum.
HR Geiger was finish designing the Alien Costume back in 1969 but the people wanting to Produce an Alien movie couldn’t find a financial backer willing to make the movie for another Ten Years.
Sehr schöne Sammlung. Aber ich vermisse da tatsächlich was. 1. ;-)
It sure doesn’t look like he’s taking very good care of that stuff. It’s just a warehouse. Dust dirt and all the handling obviously is taking a serious toll on those artifacts. Imagine he left the batteries IN! Why? If ya don’t care for some of those materials they won’t las long. I also heard he had left the Nostromo outside under a blue Walmart tarp!
That stuff should be in a sci-fi museum for all to see! Id charge admission and we all win! Its a shame to see this hidden in some guys house collecting dust
13:18 The SULACO never made any sense at all: Fly a space ship all the way to another planet, then EVERYONE goes down to the Surface ? ? ? The whole crew fits in 1 drop ship, they leave the military class destroyer warship, empty, in orbit, with no one on board... ? Even Star Trek would send a landing party, investigate, with additional reenforcements, air support, and rescue available if needed...
@@rexmundi3108 Right, and when the Marines storm the beaches, they don't leave an EMPTY Navy ship floating alone in the ocean... Big Destroyer Interstellar Warship, in orbit, empty. A clever colonist escaped the Aliens, and was in high orbit on the other side of the planet. Waits for the WHOLE crew to go down, then steals their warship - Whoops ! Sorry Ripley, thanks for the Battle Cruiser.
The Sulaco is just a troop ship, and probably not very valuable. When the landing boats hit Normandy beach, the landing boats were left empty on the shore. There are multiple ways to get back to the Sulaco - the dropship that brings you, and a second dropship that can come down. If the Sulaco is left uninhabited in orbit for a set period of time, the ship is probably programmed to return to its point of origin.
This thing gave me nightmares so bad I really think they are real I find myself hiding feeling safe until it's right on top of you out comes the mouth right into your head
I would love to visit Bob's collection. However, I don't know his address or phone number. Does anyone know how to contact him? I haven't had any luck with the email on his website.
Im not picky but if anyone knows this guy let him know ill take any piece of the Alien props. This is sooo amazing bringing the kids out in me. Always good to know and make sure you treat everyone the same!
Would'n it be nicer to put all this stuff in a real museum (like an Alien Museum!?) instead of some sort of caretaker and have Tom Spina (for instance) look after those props. Some are in really bad shape. It's a Damn shame! They deserve so much more....
Agreed, a lot of these props will deteriorate if not stored in a temperature controlled environment under glass. Don’t the studio’s realize that they could make a killing putting this stuff in a studio tour/museum. Warner Brothers has a great studio tour with Harry Potter props and and entire section for Batman, they even have an entire building for all the Batmobiles. Took the tour a few years back and it was amazing.
His poor wife ! Their home has been turned into a movie set dumping ground, free storage and no rent fees paid to them for the space ? Yes, he needs a full museum to hold movie props - theme it on science fiction and fantasy too...
Nice ''Alien / Aliens" collection, but do you have anything from GALAXY QUEST ? Expand your museum to include many films and franchises... how about a few things from RED DWARF too ? :-)
He seems really nice but lord it’s killing me watching him rub his bare hand oils ALL OVER that vintage foam latex. Also not keeping the items in display cases
