I would give anything to meet Bob. I live in Sweden, and I've been a fan of Universal monster movies, scifi and classic fantasy Cinema since I was a kid. It would be wonderful to see Bob's Collection, but what I really want to do is meet Bob himself. I've known who he is since I was a kid and saw him on the documentaries that followed my favorite Movies, and he seems like such an awesome guy. He is a true historian when it comes to the history of makeup and special effects, and to me a true hero.

Respect to bob burns for keeping the memories of old school film making alive, studios may have replaced 90% of real tangeable things you can touch and feel that have a texture and realism to them with cgi but bob hits the nail on the head with his take on the new and the old. What a great guy and equally those artist that have donated to his collection and recognise the importance of this stuff. Keep it real you cant replace 3 dimensional items filmmakers and artist have created. Like the puppets of harryhausen they have life and personalities and an identity imprinted on the minds of many. Thankyou to all you artists and pioneers of old school film making.

Man, I love this guy. I feel the exact same way as an artist and major collector. Yep, I find it so strange when collectors keep items locked away in a box within a closet. I mean, show off your stuff! Do it for yourself for god sakes..enjoy your stuff!

Thank you Mr. Burns for hanging on to these priceless movie props. I would pay money to see this. I am surprised this collection does not generate interest from a benefactor to place in a museum for the viewing public and countless fans to enjoy. I realize it costs money to display, catalog, and arrange these cool props. Man, I hope someday the collection ends up in the hands of someone who has the same interest and respect for these treasures as you do Mr. Burns. Thanks for sharing.

Words fail! I not only met the man himself WAY Back at a show in 1995, but I got to go to the basement myself, and do some figures for him, in 2006. I see my figures in this video, which means so much to me. (Purple Monster & Spy Smasher!)...I did them out of love, no fee, no way! Just the tour of the basement and the day I got to spend with Bob and Kathy, was worth it all! God bless Bob, and I hope he is well! I miss you old man! You will always be one of my all-time favorite people!

If there can only be more people like Bob. This world would be so much better. This man has a huge heart and massive respect for himself and others. I also remember Debbie Reynolds having a nice collection of Hollywood memorabilia that she had saved from being thrown out. I hope Bob gets his museum one day soon, he and those great hollywood artifacts deserve it.

Mr. Burns Great video!! I'm glad there is people like you that share this kind of passion for the love of movies especially horror, fantasy and science fiction movies. And collecting props from these great movies for the world to see the amazing collection you posses! I share your philosophy that these props are in fact pieces of fine art and should be shared and treasured with the public to see and preserve for generations to come! Please I hope to see all these great movie props displayed in a museum one day and meanwhile I wish I could go and visit your house of movie memorabilia one day! Please do not listen to those negative people who don't care to preserve this important historical collection and please don't ever sell it to any private collectors no matter the cost! I have an alien head from Close Encounters of the Third Kind not an original but was displayed in the Ackermansion for many years. I purchased this from Forry Ackermans collection from a private collector in New York when he was selling his collection and it saddens me that his collection was never put in a museum for generations to appreciate. I really regret that I was never able to go and visit Forry's Ackermansion museum so this is why it is very important to preserve this collection for future generations to come and appreciate the wonderful way artist made actual props that you can touch and feel and see in person above all! I would even be willing to donate my alien head from close encounters that I purchased for your museum if you ever decided to display your collection in an actual museum for all the generations and public to see and appreciate! Thank you!

14:55.....Rocket Man! What an iconic character that isn't even known by the public. They'd be no Rocketeer if it wasn't for Jeff King - probably no Iron Man either. Boba Fett would've certainly looked quite different as well.

There are museums for a million and one things we're forgotten/no longer care about. Why not one for this incandescent collection of cultural treasures which still resonate today? Yes, I'm prejudiced. My life is/was defined by science fiction-fantasy films of the 1950s through today (i.e. 2022). And yes, I briefly knew and worked with Bob Burns in the mid-1970s. How does that minimize these priceless treasures?

I worry that a lot of this material is not being properly stored in archival conditions. This will greatly degrade the items. If he really cared about these things, he would donate the most valuable, precious pieces of the collection to a museum where they could be preserved and enjoyed for posterity.
@PantsuMann
@PantsuMann 8 лет назад
Also CGI as Bob said cant fix everything. It's great for some things, but if done poorly even a static ship can look bad, not real and physical. The tiger in Pi worked awesome since we have real tigers to compare too, but skeletal pirates or imagined creatures can very easily become dull and out right bad looking in CGI. 95% of quality models it's the lightning that is somehow wrong.
@KendrickHarrisKenfinity
@KendrickHarrisKenfinity 3 года назад
Exactly! The real individuals and spectacles that we love can be created and cleverly brought to life through wire work, mirrors and so many other REAL special effect methods.

It true that some don't look as good close up and better on movie and also true that it's still very interesting to see them and the people that make them are very talented. The T-800 was an example, that didn't look that great.

All those multi-multi-multi-millions earned by filmmakers like Jackson, Cameron, Lucas, Spielberg, Del Toro and the rest and not one of them, or perhaps a group of them, willing to spring for the measly amount it would cost to build a proper environment to house these treasures? Jackson is "thinking about" maybe taking them after the Burnses are gone? Just "maybe?" And Spielberg and Lucas have no interest? The heart and soul that has drained from the creative output of all these filmmakers clearly stems from the core of their being. Rick Baker may be be the only other guy, aside from Bob, who still retains his original spirit.

--Stuff like this will die with the Birth of CGI :[ I never thought about that... years from now, when we are old, we wont have true displays to go see... touch and feel from our child-hood/adult-hood. Only the thought of said effect/movie. I'm sure some may make wax-figures of said thing but it wont be from the actual movie. Might luck out on a few facial kast and photos(thats about it I think). Storyboards and sketch art on paper, like from Avatar. Sorta sad really
