AWESOME Dave! Love seeing the Conwy board at work. That wire wrap tool is a savior, MS or not! I used with my son when he was younger to teach the basics of wiring LEDs, without the risk of burning him!
@@MSPaints Your problem of your dropship looking only 1 colour, all over, is not your fault. The screen model used in Battlestar Galactica, the model kit of it, said not to weather it, at all! Instead, it said use different shades of white. They said it was because of the studio lights also! Here is a link, mate. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qxtWJjFjj_o.html
And he brings out the classic tome! Outstanding! This is great work, though one things always annoys me when I see kits and things made up for the combat drop scene is that every time, the landing gear struts are created wrong and the ship doesn't "crouch" over the struts after touch down. It's a small thing, I know, but there's a specific shot in the movie showing this.
Without a doubt, one of my favorite Sci-Fi universes. Thank the maker of creators for James Cameron. Currently painting up some Tyranid Hive Fleet LV-426 critters right now. Kasrkin squad will soon follow as my Astra Militarum Colonial marine Kill Team.
I liked your video with the Buzz lightyear ship, when you said they were going cheap I checked here in Australia and managed to pick up the Armadillo for $7. I see you use the Zerg fighters in shots somtimes, they deserve a paint job like this.
Ditto! I still think its one of the best ALIENS games out there honestly, and what irony that its essentially a DOOM clone when DOOM started off as an ALIENS game
@afireinsidebrad I much preferred it to Doom as well! The soundtrack of the game created such an intense atmosphere. I was always scared to walk down every corridor!
The sanding phase must have been an absolute f*cker. All my respect. Also, you must know you've been recommended A LOT in other youtuber's channel, Bill Making Stuff. People love you.
It's rough doing pieces that are supposed to be current active-duty military hardware. The military keeps its gear super clean and in tip top condition. So, a Star Wars style over the top rust, dirt and grime, dents, scrapes, etc may be fun to do and add scale, but would never be seen on military hardware that is in service and not meant to be battle damaged. Makes it challenging to show scale. Good job finding that balance :)
Talks about the dangers of a soldering iron in MS hands, proceeds to shave cockpit windows into shape with a *boxcutter* _towards himself._ Subscribed. All jokes aside this was great, so glad you popped up in Our feed.
Dave, I found you only recently after seeing you on the painting phase. But your videos are amazingly shot and the sound design and music is on point and epic. You are the only miniature channel I watch every video of, no matter the subject or gaming system. Keep up the good work, 😘
I remember getting one of the last few tins of Brown Bess many years ago when I was putting together a horrendous resin cast of the pulse rifle and armour kit. Was an absolute mind bender of a paint to work with, but it all came together when using the hearth slate polish "weathering goop"
Congrats on your honeymoon-Japan is a beautiful place. Yes it helps a lot that my wife “has” to make regular trips back to Japan for work ✌🏻😜. In order for her to come back with a packed suitcase full of my hobbie stuff 😂
It will be great idea for video series about restoring/give life to old models miniatures from ebay, garage sale etc Btw has been stuck in my head using leds in miniatures either for the guns or for fire in the bases
I would like to thank you for using music from Alien Trilogy. Such an amazing FPS for Playstation. And your workmanship is amazing, sir! Cheers from Florida!
This was a really cool video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I’m quite fond of the franchise. While I am not very artistically inclined I really enjoyed seeing your journey with this piece, the end product is something to be very proud of.
Good tip for weathering use some hairspray before your paint layer, then use a bit of water on a brush and it chips off...works wonders. Awesome work though.
Every time I see a SquareSpace advert, my geeky brain says I need to learn that stuff cause I bet there are 1000 folks in my adopted home town that would be better off with one than the shite some other numpty built them.
thats so cool. i was on the fence about buying the dropship knowing how much of a pig it was going to be and even at half price it was going to cost a house to get it to NZ. but now i wish i had. but i will print the papsikels one and go withthat. another banger video.
Not watched aliens in a long time. But i honestly thought the gun on the apc was alot bigger than it shows on the model. Also something for you should try painting is an airsoft gun replica. In an alien looking style.
I’ve got an old resin look-alike APC that still needs painting. Seeing this I’m thinking a spray with Vallejo English Uniform then some highlights with a green-grey to simulate the effects of that lighting.
@@MSPaints I have 'warriors of the wind' on VHS, my mom got it me because it was my favourite film when I was 8 or 9 from the local video store when it shut down. The actual copy I rented. Then in the 90s discovered anime and realised where it came from 🤣🤣
Love watching your videos and seeing you try out all these different paints. By the way I highly recommend the video series Adam Savage did on Tested about making a spaceship on Starfield, especially when they focused on painting and weathering the model, some wonderful tips in that video.
Very well done my friend. I don’t wish to offend you. But I am blown away with how talented you are at this considering your condition. I build and paint models too. I get shaky hands from to many years of stress and anxiety. sometimes low blood sugar and/or arthritis. So I know how challenging it can be trying to paint tiny detail. I’m currently building the 1/4000 scale Macross. Movie edition. Took me four tries to get the antenna tower attached to the bridge. Do you any tricks to help steady your hand while your painting or dealing with tiny pieces?
Wow! 1/4000! Good luck to you my friend. Only thing I do really is bury my elbow in a sweater or something to stop nerves misfiring, cut down on coffee, and put some low strength cbd in the mix!
If you need to add more detail you can always put decals on it like the bug stompers emblem and some caution warnings around some areas like the engine and stuff
It’s to smooth out some of the areas I didn’t sand as fine as I’d like. Primer, gloss and prime again helps to smooth those out a smidge. Useful for big flat surfaces, not so great for minis!
grimdark compendiu did a video on rust, his is awesome and pretty much is the same method as mediocre hobbies. the painting phase covered the same product aswell. top work
Mine is still in the box too from that same sale. One day I hope she will be as glorious as the Corps deserves. But thanks for showing what i have to look forward to.
This is truly Amazing, bringing to life small models from one of my all time favourite movies. You are incredibly talented, God Bless you and keep up the amazing work :).
