Saw your alienware savings vid and got a r10 alienware pc with a ryzen 5 5600x and a 3080 liquid cooled for 1800$ Absolutely sick savings man. Great videos
The ram could be a couple of issues. The OEM hyper x fury isn't actually identical to aftermarket hypet x fury, i believe they run at different voltages, you can look at your sticks and confirm. Also I don't think 4 x 8gb is a validated ram config by Alienware for the R12. I think if you want 32gb at 3200 you will need to go for a 2 x 16gb.
@@RyanYu Just wanted to let you know in case you were still wondering what was causing it. Working fine is working perfect, hope you've been enjoying the r12!
@@robotuprising1711 Hi,i'm wondering about to upgrade my r12 now, if i find two more OEM rams(same series)from ebay then can i go with 4*8GB in 3200? Thanks
@@sunshineDobo not sure as 4x8gb at 3200 wasn't a valid config when i had one, i think the safe bet is to buy 2x16gb as that should be fine. Though there have been a few bios updates since then so it might be possible. Either way its a risk
@BigFishGaming you have to use the Alienware software from your desktop to set ram speed not the BIOS on these PCs. Open the Alienware control and set it there I promise it works. You have to save and name your profile befor close
Thank you for the tip, but it won't work because my CPU is not overclock version and it will only runs at 2933 the maximum. there is no option in my AWCC for the RAM.
I just googled this is the answer I got. if you use awcc to oc, it get disabled in the bios. But in awcc, there’s an option to enable xmp so you can clock the ram at 3200
@@RyanYu Mine hasn't come yet I got this from Google. Open AWCC, click on Fusion, Choose your Overclock Profile, the last section on the right should be Memory Clock, go to Advanced View, and then click on RAM2. If you don't have it enabled right now, it should either be disabled or set to ram 1, which would show an active ram frequency around 2926? and once you enable it, active should show something like 3190.
R12 only supports dual channels, so you running 2 x 2 dual channels. Just in case anyone tries this and can't figure out why it won't run quad with 4 sticks. Note* you can still run 4, and it will add up the same, it just won't be quad channels.
Nice, I was curious if it would take CORSAIR - VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 as the 3.2GHz sticks would be a downgrade from 3466. The odds is my Intel® Core™ i7-11700 Processor shows memory supports 3.2GHz however it shows to be running at 3458MHz.
I could be wrong, but I think you should check your just installed fan as I feel that it's turned wrong and blowing out of the case, rather than into the case, towards the GPU. If you can, check it with the side panel open to make sure that it's blowing in the correct direction?
I do. make sure to watch my video of how to get discount before you purchase. you will save some money for sure. Also, get the liquid cooled CPU is a plus. Ram should do dual channel.
I have the R-11 i9-10900KF / 64GB ram and 2080TI - keeps freezing and tried to install 3 Noctua fans and after BIOS 1.05 update runs fan test every boot or restart - 6 months old and I just bought a new mobo and case to fix this POS - this was to replace my 8 yr old R-4 that is still running great - after over 10 Dells this is my last - I currently own 7 Dells, 4 desktops and 3 notebooks so I am not new to them -
You are a very humorous person.😂 I'm thinking to buy alienware's pc but still haven't decide which one to buy yet. I saw the review said their noise is way too loud, not sure what's the reason, and curious if this happens to you.
@@RyanYu Not sure if it's because they fixed the noise issue, but I just got a R12 delivered on July 21. So far it's been really quiet. I just bought ram for it but I have a question. After I bought the ram, I saw that my system can't have 4x 8GB ram sticks. My system came with 2x 8GB, and I just purchased 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro sticks. Can I mix those with the factory RAM, and can I really add 4x 8GB sticks into the R12? BTW, I have the overclock cpu with 1000W power.
The PUMP fan isn’t working on my Alienware aurora 12. It was in the middle of an update when it started this. And I can’t get passed the support assist pre boot system performance check. I’ve tried everything 😢. I seriously hate Alienware, I should’ve returned the day I got it.
I bought this Alienware - Aurora R12 Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory 3200Mhz - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, I need to buy 32 GB ram instead of the original one i have on my pc . Can you please tell me which one should i buy ? I dont know that much about tech
Question 🙋🏻♂️ Does upgrading RAM upgrade the VRAM in ur computer ?? Not really knowledgeable on this but like when I play games I’m just at 10 gb, how do I get more VRAM to work with 🙏🏽💯
my 3000Mhz RAMs can also only OC to 2926Mhz, I upgraded my CPU 11900K from 11700F thinking I would be able to get a lot more CPU performance from OC, but Alienware motherboard is one of the worst in existence, they are built for absolutely minimum, my 11900K wasn't even able to reach stock clock speed because the motherboard could not provide enough voltage to the CPU, I had to look through tens of videos, reddit posts, to finally find someone doing the same thing, having to resort to Undervolting to get close to Stock speed, that is really pathetic; I've been buying Alienware for as long as I can remember, but they will never get another penny from me again
@@RyanYu oh also do you think you can water cool your gpu by adding another 120mm radiator into that case? ive been thinking about doing that but seems like i have to cut part of the case to fit that in.
I just bought PCIe SSD adapter and use my m.2 with it. For first run, it detects the m.2, but the next day i turn on my pc, the m.2 not detect anymore. But the light on the adapter is on which tell me that the adapter is working. If i put the m.2 to the other pc, the m.2 is ok. How can i solve this?
XMP will only show its max clock when the CPU is at load unless you don't want turbocharged enable instead just want your CPU overclocked all the time.
@@RyanYu Depending on your CPU and if the motherboard can handle it, try looking at the bios to see if there is a turboboost setting for your CPU, if not, try opening Alienware command center and taking a look at the power options, in there you can also overclock your PC. When I am gaming I usually set mine to High Performance. Check that stuff out and you should see your RAM hz max out.
@@aaronkirk121 I think only the overclock version of CPU can go up to 3200 mhz. I've tried pretty much everything on mine and it still set it to 2933 MHZ.
Oh, that is annoying. Already bought my 32GB kit for my R10. Will try and let you know if I have any success on the R10 when I try my kit in the next couple days. I heard there was an issue with the Dell/Alienware proprietary boards.
@@hyuganokaiten yeah, from Dell. Nice to get their "warranty" and their shipping was faster than expected. Others were 30 days or so to ship back then, so decided to go Dell.
Question: Would doing this somehow ruin the warranty? Taking out the gpu and changing the fan out? Oh also is the bracelet something you’d need to have to change out the fans? Very new to pcs
Love the channel quick question if i bought the single channels 16gb version can i drop another hyper x 3466 16gb and be ok ? Also when installing the h60 by corsair does it replace the original fan or is a supplement to it?
@@RyanYu ordered some corsair 16 gb x2 at 3200 thanks for the recommendation. Getting a full rtx3080 setup for 2300 including the h60 cooler isnt bad. Do i need a heatsink or will i be ok without it ?
EDIT: I found your SSD install video Nice, thanks for the super helpful video! My r12 is arriving next week and this is the first upgrade I'm going to do. Do you have a video showing how to install additional SSD?
Can you use cheaper memory cards I just blew my savings getting the computer itself don’t have much money left. Could use more affordable upgrade options
So, new/old problem. I should have asked you this a long time ago. No matter what brand memory cards I use the computer will only accept 16GB of ram. Anymore than that and the computer won’t boot up. Is there a simple fix for that or do I have to get a expensive part to fix it?
Hi Ryan, in the end, did you manage to get 3200MHz? Also, any idea the system will accept any brand for the RAM? Since you mentioned that only Corsair fans are usable
@@RyanYu Thanks. The document from Dell said it should support up to 3400MHz though, and i7 11700F can support up to 3200MHz. Oh well. BTW, keep posting, you're awesome
After replacing, I started up my PC to Pre-Boot System Performance Check screen. In this screen, the computer tested both top and front fans. I get a message stating that the Front Fan failed to respond correctly….
Thank you for the response. I currently have a rtx 3070 and I7 11700f. What would you recommend I upgrade to? Im pretty knew to PC building and couldn't find much info online regarding the R12 GPU and CPU upgrades.
I'm very confused with all the different comments, with some citing of problems coming after bios updates or randomly after some time. Has anyone successfully added 64gb or more with no issues specifically on the R12? What rams do they work? Mine came with 2x8GB, DDR4, 3200MHz, XMP
When you take out the mechanical hard drive and put fans what fans and brackets can you use or what do you need for that can someone send me the links for the stuff and where to get them
@@RyanYu I replaced all the fans except I removed the hard drive that came with the pc and someone said you can put fans there how do I do that I’m new to this
no - I have several that did not work and had to buy the exact mem that came in it to expand to 64GB - also none of the cpu or ram factory overclocking was set correctly in the BIOS - 5.3 cpu was running 4.8 and 3200 ram was running 2400
@@RyanYu Update: I just installed the Silent Wings 2 fan from be quiet. No bios errors. its a gem. Also, upgraded to 32gb 3200mhz ram from kingston fury beast, slots 1 and 3. volt 1.35 is fine. Another gem. thanks.
@@RyanYu I have i7-11700kf r12 and swapped in 32GB 3.4GHz, same issue as you, bios update corrected it, I found your video looking for correcting my fan speeds through Alienware software, running doubled up arctic on the radiator and 2 in the front of the case, it will only run 37% fan speed max, been through a few configurations and still looking for a solution. Good luck, there was some bios discussion on Reddit, bios update was released last month
@@RyanYu Would you recommend the same corsair fans? I am trying to optimize airflow while reducing as much noise as possible. Thank you for response fellow aurora owner 😎
@@steph66h Thank you I have also heard of that happening with R11 and R12, but I’m getting ryzen edition r10 with noctua fans, no bios problems from what I’ve read online
If you could get parts at retail price then build it yourself which is much better. But if you can’t get them or don’t know hot to build then the Alienware is pretty good.
Why did you replace the fan? I've checked out like 15 vids on this rig and everyone I've seen so far says no heating issues and it runs every game at max settings. These are with an 11th gen chip and a 3080 of course.
@@RyanYu ah okay. That's not an issue for me as I have headphones that cancel outside noise. But ty for doing vids on it. I will likely order my R12 soon.
I just ordered an R12 and I heard the default ram is bottlenecking the system and I've seen user benchmarks proving it, if I replace the default ram will that solve the issue?
Did you add more ram? I have an r12 and it only came with 8gb of ram which is bottlenecking me bad. I have no computer knowledge so any help on what to buy would be extremely helpful!
If adding identical ram do you have to take out the stock ram? Can you keep the stock ram in and just add the 1 stick of the new ram to make it dual channel
@@RyanYu Sorry I’m not much of a tech head when it comes to PCs Does that mean I can keep the original ram in the pc and just add the new one in if it’s the same MHz and there both Cl16?
@@RyanYu Hey, Thanks for the help you gave me I just want to share something with you, I found ram dell dell themselves that is compatible with the Ram that originally comes with it.. You go onto the dell website go to Menu- Electronics and accessories-For home- Replacement parts and upgrades- Product type- Memory- Alienware R12 then it shows all different ones that Are for the R12 Hope this helps
@@RyanYu Awesome thanks for the reply, one more question. I picked up an Alienware Aurora R12 i5 11400F with the RTX 3060 in it for 850$. Did i get a good deal?
Hi, I think the R12 motherboard is still Z490 and it doesn't support and compatible properly with 11th gen processors, please tell us how the performance is after upgrading your ram
Just curious - How much of a performance difference really between 2900/3000 mhz and the desired 3200 mhz? I am planning to upgrade my RAM (from stock HyperX Fury 16GB @ 3200 mhz) to either 64GB or 128GB (also planning to be HyperX Fury @ 3200 mhz), and I have been seeing similar results on various forums where filling all 4 slots resulted in mhz of 2900/3000. I'm concerned if settling with a loss of 200/300 mhz is actually noticeable in overall performance - is it more of a minor difference?
I called Kingston on the issue with the Memory cards in my R12, These Ram cards are proprietary as their clock speeds are at 20. The ones directly from Kingston vary from 16-19 clock speeds! And you can not mix and match clock speeds with other cards! I assume Dell just wants you to buy from them only! The ones that come with the Alienware Computers are not available retail. Only from dell and you have to match the numbers that are on the sticker on the cards! I need to make a video already!
Dell these days is quite unlike the Dell in the yesteryears. They have come up with a system called Support Assist that is a disguised planned obsolescence system. Think of it as a Trojan horse. It is introduced to keep your systems updated and working till the warranty period, and swiftly after the warranty expiry keeps introducing updates that lead to one or the other software malfunction. The warranty then offered for a year or two is close to the price of a new laptop; just slightly lesser perhaps. So, my two cents is to ignore the fancy lighting and other fancy stuff and go for a brand that provides you the not so fancy but a reliable and lasting product. I bought an Aurora last year and it is close to garbage. All the best folks!!
I had the same issue. It won't take 4 8gb sticks. You need two 16gb sticks. They have a chart on the Alienware manual of what type of memory combination it will accept
OMG, really!? that's why it is good to read the manual sometime. Could you check the R11 for me too? they could be wrong too, because I have the 4 same sticks in my R11 and they work at 3200mhz.
needs more than a upgrade .......... these things needed a whole new case replacement due to no air flow no matter what fans you put in it.,... im on a second replacement that has already needed replacement parts as well. Personally your btr off just buying a new case with airflow and a new mobo since none of the hook ups work with standard bought parts.... alienware is as bad as the apple store with exclusive to the brand.... stupid if you ask me
How long did the black screen take after upgrading the ram? I just got my r12 and put 64gb in (2 x 32) and ive been sitting here for 10 minutes. Saw the alienware logo pop up for a split second but thats it....still black, still waiting.
@@RyanYu Does the black screen remain long only once after the upgrade (and not an ongoing thing everytime you turn-on your machine moving forward?), and is this issue only happening on the R12 when updating ram and not the R10/R11? Just curious :)
@@RyanYu ...because I changed my graphics card on a Alienware computer I had a few years ago and later had trouble with the computer. When they came to check it they noticed it wasn't the one it came with so weren't going to replace any parts because of it. It's their policy.... so now I wait till the warranty is past to make changes.
@@RyanYu thanks for the reply.. im having problems with mine. Everything is on but I get a black screen. I changed the fans, added storage, etc. Now It won't boot. I even put a put a USB in to reinstall windows but I can't get into the boot settings
I guess it makes sense to some people to pay outrageous prices for Alienware for a 1990 style chassis covered in plastic, inferior cooling, slow ram slow storage and loud fans then pay to upgrade it.
