In this video I take an old Alinco 2 meter rig from the early 1990's and attempt to sort out a receive/audio problem. Please feel free to comment as we'd love to hear from you. Hope you enjoy the video.
Bob on results there.. surprising to see the caps failing like they were doing, nice to meet the New 2955 as well.. keep it up, you know you enjoy the challenge.
Hi Mark, Yeah it's a bit strange for the caps to leak that badly considering what they are doing in circuit. You never know what kind of life the radio has had. The 2955 is going well and it's got a 75W attenuator fitted which is nice.
Alinco used to be quite good for providing service manuals as free downloads. Some manufacturers make u pay through the nose for it if they offer it ar all. Hope u are well me old mate? Loving all the new videos very inspiring work.
Hi Gary, I hope all is well mate, always a pleasure to hear from you. If I'm honest I have not repaired that much Alinco equipment but I never had any trouble finding the service information in the past. I think the electronics manufacturers as a whole are not releasing service information these days which is a shame as I really do think people should have the right to repair. I'm glad you are enjoying the new videos as it's fun making them, I'm as busy as a bee at this end but I hope to have more vids out soon.
Hi apologies I have been busy with work commitments of late. regarding your question, I am sorry but I don't remember the values or the voltages of the capacitors. I would say it would be a good idea to make sure that you using the same voltages as the caps that you replace as higher voltage caps tend to higher ESR characteristics.
