I'm a ceramist, started ceramics in Toronto in the 90's Now living in BC and just started up again in November.. I created beautiful things in the 90's I was in some big shows... Can't wait to start producing again.. I made about 50 gorgeous ceramic trees in November :)
If you use a rocking method for sponging you will get a better result. Also sponge twice and wait for a couple of mins between for the paper to dry before doing the second sponging. Your decal/transfer will have all of the glaze released. You will then get a perfect result. (I have used them for over 8 yrs). Regards Carole
Thank you so much for sharing ,I would love to try this with my own ceramics can you please tell me how did you put this blue flower pattern on this rice paper ?? It is underglaze ??
I was struggling with getting the transfer to transfer on top of the glaze so I asked in a pottery group. They told me they were not meant to go over a glaze and that it could change whether the item is food safe. Do yo have anything to say about this?
On your Egypt Blue/Reactive White terracotta plate - 1) Did you put any clear glaze over it on the top side? 2) Did you also use the brown on the rim? 3) if you do not glaze the bottom with color, would you put clear over terracotta bisque? What other glazes does the Reactive White work to make an interesting pattern? Would it work with Ocean Mist or Jadeite?
After watching this video, colorobia will have a new customer! Can’t wait! I do have one question though. How many blue coats, white coats and white overlap did you put down? Because of the time-lapse it is unclear to me. Thanks again.
Hey! All the pieces in here you can find at bisqueimports.com. The Terra Cotta Plate in the video we get from Colorobbia that is in Italy. I hope this helps!
You can sometimes get fading when working with decals/transfers that are really old, detail degradation, Decals and Transfers do have a lifespan depending on where they're stored and the type of paper used...
