My wife Lora had an aneurysm rupture , June 2020. Now paralyzed and cognitively impaired. We went to Myrtle Beach every year with the kids and now it can't ever happen again. Our wedding song is 'When You Say Nothing At All' by Alison Krouse. We saw her live in Wilkes Barre on our 20th anniversary. This is the most bittersweet thing to hear. I'm a wreck. My wife is not physically gone but I still miss her enormously She will never recover. If you are married don't take your spouse for granted.
I feel when I woke today " dear mother Mary intercede for me today & send me a voice of profound truth So I soo long for my home " Carolina, I ach, for my ppl,I feel so unguided😢 🙏 , + I feel I've inflicted so much / to much pain on my ppl ;( I've been unwell for 20+ years... I feel extremely enlightened by your authentic (perhaps, not realizing your angel light presence?) Your sharing and Allysons" Carolinia " song I'm up I've made it down 13 steps & I'm on the porch with all God's lil' creatures😅 So I bow to you & your beloved and she does know your there even when it doesn't appear so !!! You'll be on & in the same sphere... Perhaps not in your illusionary...state as we all grapple with the daunting idea if death & dying however we will all succumb to illness & death from this body However consciousness lives beyond this world " so water the good memories with your beloved, put a match to the notcsobgood thoughts & remain simply in the min. To min. Beach, as that's all it basically comes down too... The gift of the " NOW " = THATS WHY I PRAY YOU WILL, love her 👆 Up to the last exhale, and be safe in the silence of the unknowing,as it will all be revealed to you in God's timing❤❤❤❤😊🎉
Now we all know Alison Krauss has the finest and most dignified voice on the planet, but can we all please tip our hat to Jerry Douglas for that wonderful accompaniment work. That is a bread and butter pair if I have ever heard one.
@Kyle Winter - Jerry Douglas would become a UNESCO World Heritage Site, if it weren't for the fact that he's a live human being full of these wonders. And his voice is magnificent, as well. I use it in my head when I need to work out harmonies. And he sounds perfect with Alison Krauss, who is always superb.
I remember the first time I heard Alison's voice, I was in like a half sleep and thought an Angel was singing to me. Turns out I was right so I am sure we will hear Alison singing to us in heaven.
Thanks bro. It’s because of your work that I can sleep peacefully with the confidence that where I live, and the people I love, will still be there when I wake.
Alison’s voice is obviously off the charts, but Jerry deserves great credit for the beautiful dobro and harmony and James Taylor deserves a little credit, too ❤️❤️
Jerry Douglas is an absolutely astounding dobro player!! I barely knew what the instrument was before I discovered Alison Krauss! I love both Alison and Jerry!
Holy crap! How can this lady sing like this? She has worked over every phrase and nuance to utter perfection, an upwelling of the spirit that takes us to the closest thing to heaven. Such talent. Some years ago I liked her singing but only lately I've come back and found that she has perfected her art to a spiritual level. Makes me glad that You Tube is here for us to find those things we've lost.
@@peterbaskind9872 in fact all of union station memers are indidually topd among their peers...and its fun to watch them enjoy each others company on stage...live in loiusville, is wonderful to watch.
I love James Taylor, but this is the purest and most heartfelt rendition of this song I have ever heard. Alison puts meaning into every word of every phrase. The music is alive with a palpable heartbeat.
I love this James Taylor song. He wrote it when his father after a phone call for help drove all the way to New York to bring James home so he could deal with his drug addiction. Everytime I hear this song I am reminded that a father's love is the most precious thing. If not the world might have lost one of the best troubadours of our time. I love this version. Alison Krauss has one of the most gorgeous crystal clear voices ever.
Thank you for writing of the love of fathers. Much has been written about the love of mothers, but a father's love is deep and powerful, too. It is unique, individual and devoted in ways that are difficult to put into words. A father may be a person of few words, but his connection to his children is often more precious than his own life. Fathers are often misunderstood because they are not often as open about their love for their children as are mothers. Perhaps that is a common fault,.but this story about James Taylor's father speaks volumes about the connection of love he felt with his son.
@@GermanProudlyshe’s full of crap. That probably didn’t even happen. He wrote the song while being homesick, from England, while recording with the Beatles.
My wife and I met her and the band while we were staying at the Radisson Hotel in Branson MO and we had lunch with them. Such a lady and the boys were also great. We came all the way from Australia to see her and band and went to the show that night and it was just awesome. The musicianship that night left me speechless. A superlative show!
Exactly what I’ve been saying for years. Alison’s voice is the literal definition of God-given. He sent her to earth with the voice of an angel. She could sing the ABC’s and it would still bring tears to my eyes.
If no angels upon entering the gates of heaven sound like Miss Krauss, i will go to Hades and await her arrival or equal before the attempt to enter again.
I was going to write that anybody with guts enough to sing with Robert Plant is all right with me. After seeing this gem, I think I got that backward. Anybody brave enough to sing with Alison Krauss is ok in my book. Her rendering here is exquisite.
@ImNotMad ButUR : Thank you so much for the kind words. What happened in this performance is extraordinarily rare. The artist as mountain climber, one who not only summits Everest but brings you along to appreciate the view.
Alison Krauss has been my favorite female singer forever and Jerry Douglas is the best dobro player in the world. Until tonight, I'd never heard him sing, and boy can he sing! Their voices complement each other beautifully!
@alisonprvt1 I think I must be in heaven where the angels sing....but if not, I'm close by here in east Tennessee. You really made me happy today, thank you so much, and God bless you..only angels can hold a halo next to you ❤️
@alisonprvt1 no I am not, but I will be praying for you and your crew to be safe in your travels. Someone must have been praying for me, that I am sure of. May Messiah be in your heart always.
@alisonprvt1 I asked my son, the lawyer, about the felony of identity theft, he said Dad, it is common and needs to be proscueted...take down your subscription immediately or I will take the actions neccassry to have you taken into custody...one never knows who they are dealing with.
about paint drying. There is an innate emotion in all of us, that is....when you see beauty, you recognize it...we are listening and watching a "beautiful" soul shinning through this woman's body.....Feb. 2020
Such a resonant, sweet, and delicate voice. Alison does James Taylor's song great justice....I can't imagine any more elegant rendition. Thank you, Alison.
@@billdarden9680 - No, it's not. It's James Taylor. He wrote it in 1968, while staying in an apartment in Spain. He was homesick for his childhood home of North Carolina.
ray sullivan boy she's good. The edge of country. Kinda Towards bluegrass eh. Emmy Lou Harris is sure good More straight up country And sorta folk Love that
Check out AKUS - Alison Krauss and Union Station. What a superb band. Jerry Douglas, Dan Timinsky, Sam Bush. She has the purest voice - sometimes heart-breakingly beautiful. And soundtrack for O Brother, Where Art Thou?
I bought one of Alison's CD"s and I woke my daughter super early and went for an early morning, Mommy Daughter Day, and we both sang every song as loud as we could. Had a To-go breakfast and lunch while talked and listened to Allison's CD. One of our Together Memories. Still makes my heart feel good and cry because my daughter "Elizabeth" is grown and we can't do it again, she is making memories with her own kids now.
As beautiful as Alison's singing is, the talent she surrounded herself with and her selfless support of upcoming artists make her stand out above any other performer I know of. Jerry is just one of example of the former. Sierra Hull is a great example of the latter.
I can literally never hear Jerry Douglas play without being joyously happy. And can we just take a moment to shout out to Alison Krauss's chops as a fiddler too? There's a whole lot of "songstresses," particularly in country, who never pick up an instrument again once they make it as a vocalist. Alison just gets better and better as a singer and an instrumentalist. This is one of my favourite James Taylor songs and I've fallen in love with it all over again.
