My husband and I saw this show and it was incredible! Robert passed away 3 years ago and he is forever immortalized in this video. He can be heard howling at the beginning of this song. My heart leaps every time I hear him. Thank you, Alison, for making this one of my most beautiful memories!
I love Alison's voice, Jerry Douglas's Dobro playing, Dan Tyminski voice but with this song, I have to keep rewinding Ron Block's guitar solo...OMG he is awesome! His banjo playing is amazing too.
im 16 and remember my mom always playing Alison Kruss all the time even when i was a baby i know all of her songs!! she really has rare sounding voice its very hard to find now days she is such a inspiration to me!
This band is so incredibly skilled and talented. I love this...the whole concert is so great. What a pleasure it is to listen to these superb musicians. And you notice Alison is not wearing anything flashy or revealing, and she doesn't change costumes even one time. No special effects, just pure music. Through viewing this band's music I also discovered some amazing rising stars that have just blown me away..Sarah Jarosz, Sierra Hull, and Aoife O'Donovan and bands. Check them out, fine musicians
This comes across as naturally as breathing to this whole ensemble. What an amazing cover of a song that sooooooooo many bands play... really seeing the love for what they are doing is what makes it so good!
Beautiful tune about my hometown! I could listen to Alison sing all day anyway, but this makes it sweeter. Fine, tight band playing with her! Fantastic!
I grew up singing this song and listening to Alison but I just now put the two together!!! OH MY WORD!!! I just love Alison so much. I want to sing one day with her ♥
Funny u say that. I copied my comment from another song from this show: "I got a front row center seat for this show, and had no idea who Alison Krauss was. She blew me away. She sings like an angel. If there is a heaven, I know she'll be there singing when (if) I arrive..." I'll have to get a copy of that A.C.L. show.
She is absolutely beautiful! Her voice is so smooth... A studio vocal machine would butcher such amazing talent. I love how she sings, so clear and pure, I absolutely adore Alison Krauss!
Lord a mercy she could sing me to sleep just whenever she wanted to that voice and talent, I'm sure there is a law against this kind of talent . But I'm glad there's not one . I'm sure the thirty people who don't like this have deep seated problems . Most likely a sad and tragic childhood . What else could it be LOL
J English LOL I hear ya, as Bob Dylan so eloquently said " The Times They Are a Changin " My problem is at my age I don't care . You know its sad but most of todays singers and so called celebrities I would not know if they were at my door. I think that's called out of the loop, I got looped out years ago. This may be a stupid question but did Justin Bieber actually do anything but get rich and get in trouble and get all those tats.
It was back in 1989 when l first came across Allison and she was about 17 then l was hooked by that great voice and bought my first Rounder CD featuring her early songs.
Sincerely in love with you - no offense at me ... I love your talent. I live with you, your creativity and the group in which you are very, very loved, respected and appreciated for all that you give to people! You are very beautiful and talented! All the best to you and your friends on the works! With best wishes to all of you!
@@edwhite7475 All I've heard before this recording is the studio recording, and she's definitely not singing it normally in the studio recording. I noticed it in that recording and was wondering why she was singing it weirdly. It's not as obvious as it is here though, for sure! There's got to be a reason she's doing it that way though - maybe a reference to the original she's covering? Not sure.
Incredible! A slow jam is and all these guys are amazing, tho my personal favorite is Jerry D on the DoBro he came to see us in Bangor Maine at the American Folk Festival and a train actually rolled thru when he was doing "Oh Brother" it was unbelievable. Keep this beautiful art coming, there is not enough beauty in this world.
Woke up with this song on my mind. "Geor-ga-gia" refers to the postal code for Georgia: "GA." This is an old song from Bad Company. I like that Alison has rubbed elbows with the rock world.
How could 20 people possibly not like this vid? I think everything about this is way too great......the way she sings it and the band is just way too cool....I could listen to this song all day.....the harmony, the tempo...everything.......love this!
Great post, great song. Alison and the band on top form as usual! Many thanks for leaving in the standing ovation.Good to see and get a feel of the live show.
This song was originally performed by Bad Company, a British rock band that was popular during the 1970s. It is off the 1979 album “Desolation Angels”, and lead singer Paul Rodgers sang it. As for Alison Krauss, I like her because of her voice although I’m not country. She has deep connections with Robert Plant; he recorded one of my favorite tracks “Big Log”.
My two favorite live bands: AKUS, and Rush, because the musicianship live for both is beyond amazing. Saw Rush 5 times in 5 decades, and AKUS 4 times in 2, and will again.
