Alison Moyet was one of the all-time great female vocalists. It is a shame that she never really broke into the US charts in a big way, the Yanks missed out there.
No Contest - Alison Moyet wins hands down. I hate the way the music industry shunned Alison in the '80s ignored for one-hit wonders instead of talent and yes she still has that beautiful voice today.
They're both brilliant. There doesn't have to be all this "she's better than..." stupidity. It's merely opinion, and if you can't see that, your own opinion is worthless.
The 80's were actually a really good decade for recording techniques, technology and excellence. I didn't take it for granted, I sought it out, and production values were there in spades. Garage Band was nowhere in sight, nor were there amateurs at the mixing desk.

Alison Moyet has one of the most amazing voices. In the 80s and even now, she was and still is iconic. That talent, that voice, the music. beautiful songs and very impressive, touching and heartwarming. Beautiful and timeless music.
I was a nursing student in England, in my 20s when this came out. I'm in my mid 60s now, and close to retiring. It's still as good and fresh as 40 years ago and brings back so many great memories. ❤
Many people wrote that she’s an underrated singer. Guys, she was a million seller artist back in the 80’s. Alf and Raindancing each stayed for more than a year in the charts and sold a million copies each. She had a number one album with Yazoo in 83 too. She had a number one Best Of album in 95 that went platinum in the UK. Maybe the new generation under appreciate her but she was a superstar in the 80’s from 82 to 88. Let’s not forget that she won many Brit awards too and was nominated for a Grammy in 91.

Yes she was lauded as the best female for many years in the 80s, the fact that youngsters today do not know who she is shows that the media today is utterly forgetful about how great the 80s was ... so many acts in the 80s are already forgotten even though they were played in every street corners then ... Human forgetfulness is very sad indeed ...

Please! Sh'es not the only one. You bleeding Americans completely missed out on the great Kim Wilde! The 80s was brilliant but no one put out more artistically varied yet excellent albums and singles and b-sides than she did, yet all you bothered with 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' and that 'Kids' start that mentiones the wretched country. Then there's German songstress Sandra, plus China Crisis, German band Alphaville which are cool as A-ha-whom you also ignored. Then there's Claudia Brucken, Crowded House beyond 1988, T'Pau, Big Country, Deacon Blue, Erasue-even ABBA and both Abba girls's solo out put. In fact there's no end to your mistakes in the US! What did any other country HAVE to do. Are the songs just too compilcated, too unlike any rubbish from your own shores. It's just all about the shit that is Madogga the vile, Michael Jackson, Prince, Bon Jovi and all the rap and country stuff and nothing else gets a look in. Alison Moyet is just ONE of many crimes the US committed when they carried on ignoring every other country's stuff apart from their own, yet expect idiotic ourselves to LOVE ALL thier stuff!
For years I thought she was actually a man apologies Alison but someone told me she was a bloke and being young and a bit gullible I believed them but I always loved her voice uniquely distinctive and immediately recognisable
Yes I never get tired of her voice , her Burberry fashion show concert is incredible, her voice is just as good maybe a bit smoother, and she has definitely turned into a very beautiful woman
I don't know why Allison Moyet was not more popular. A voice that good doesn't come around very often. Evidently she wasn't given the media push that Adele was given. I think Allison is a far better singer than Adele.
+ekcj1 Think of what your saying you sound foolish. It's your personal preference if she appeals to you more than Adele. Some of the world greatest singers didn't sound so great if you know what I mean (Bob Dylan,Lou Reed Joe Cocker ) to name a few. Allison has strength and wide vocal range and Adele does as well. They both are terrific singers with plenty of fans. To compare side by side one against the other you can't do it for it's truly personal.

I saw Alison Moyet sing this live years ago, both herself and Terence Trent D’Arby were support to David Bowie on his Glass Spider tour. All were fantastic.

I remember hearing Alison Moyet sing this great song ( All cried out ) over 40years ago, it still sounds great after all this time. Would be nice to see Alison Moyet back making music sound great.
What a vocal wonder! Only a few in the music circus of this world can match Alison, can even come close to her - perhaps Adele, Alannah Myles or Lisa Stansfield. This vocal power - simply unique in the music world. Alison really deserves more sustained fame and attention. I love this underrated woman. What I wouldn't give for more from her - especially in the style of the 80s. Alison, I love you!
