Its just unbelievable that someone with this powerful of a voice wasn't more successful I don't think Adele's voice is even close. Her voice is powerful an smooth. Absolutely beautiful
In my opinion Alison Moyet and Lisa Stansfield are the most underrated women from that era! My era! They deserved way more than what they were given. Both ICONS!
Sorry, regardless of gender/sex, they were utterly brilliant singers full stop. Not sure about Lisa Stansfield, but Alison Moyet was an amazing songwriter and performer. But yes, neither received the recognition they received. Along with Annie Lennox, they were absolutely amazing. And women also. Wonder why their talent was never acknowledged as such? And no, I'm not some burn my bra feminist, just in awe of their talent. Along with Sammy Hagar et al!!!
I haven't heard this song for about 35 years. And I just realised that this woman has one of the greatest female singing voices in the history of pop music.
One of the most iconic voices of the early-mid 1980's. In a class of her own. For anyone looking for 80's sounds, Alison Moyet is essential. Her voice takes me back to better times.......
54yrs old I am and this lady still makes me feel young her voice never gets old and nor do her songs!! Thank you Alison for all those wonderful memories ❤️
I am sick to almost death of people comparing Alison to Adele. Moyet is on a level way way out of Adele's wildest imagination. In 15 years people will be saying "Adele?". What's her last name.... And here we are still listening to Alison after 38 years.
I’ve liked this song ever since I was a teenager in the 80’s …. however it’s only now 35 years later that I realise how AMAZING and soulful her voice is!! Stunning vocals
It's one of the most beautiful and simple songs I've ever heard I can't stop listening Vince is a genius the arrangement is a very simple melodic loop with a beautiful vocal by Alison absolutely love it just heard it for the first time bout 2 weeks ago.
I got a cancer diagnosis 3 hrs ago. Turned on this and it soothed the anger n painful emotions. I love her voice like velvet dark chocolate n cream cherry brandy
I pray you heal soon \ well and fully. If your not Christian please I'm asking you to to turn to Jesus Christ while you still have time.. You won't regret it
People recover from cancer every day ... no reason you can't be one of them too. Praying for you as you traverse this difficult turn in the road on your journey through this side of eternity.
@@rafaelponcedeleon9504 Yes I know her background as well as vince Clark what was the first group she was in and what was vinces first group a d it was not depeche mode
Alison started as a leadsinger in Yazoo. Happy party music. Then she found her own sensitive and emotionelle style........I miss thoose day just sitting in my room listening to music. No mobile phones or internet. Everything on records.
Fiona f have you listen to the sad song AND ON great funeral song when i first heard it a couple times it made me cry because i thought of a loss love one
2024 ~ God, how I remember playing Alison Moyet's incredible music; especially this one in 1984 (as hard as it is to believe - 40 years have elapsed!); I was madly in love with a lawyer 20 years my senior ... 🎙️ ♥️ ⚖️
Those were the days, oh those were the days! Happier times, life was good...simple...easier (I think) and certainly less complicated. Bless all of us who were around when the 80’s were a reality and mattered.
Loved it back in the 80s, but recently started again to listen more and more of the 80s stuff, but especially some artists, such as this one. Alison Moyet is powerhouse of a voice. She is incredible, before any of the other hit the stage, she was making incredible music and put her amazing voice to deliver those songs. This is such an amazing song, so heartwarming and yet could bring sadness depending on the circumstances. I miss the 80s more and more, when the music was great, entertainment was a lot of fun and we had great teens and young adulthood.
I'm French, I'm thirty five and I love Alison Moyet from the start, especially the duet with Vince Clarke, "Don't Go" in 1982. In my point of view, one of the ten best song in the eighties. And I'm so so proud that Alison Moyet has french origin from his father. Big kisses for everyone from France !!!
Thank you Lamont Dozier, may he rest in peace, for writing this incredible song, as well as to Alison Moyet for her amazing delivery and captivating voice. It is a crime that this was Alison's only Top 40 Hit in the United States. Such an underappreciated artist, at least on this side of the Atlantic. Alison, thank you very much for being a large part of what I call the soundtrack to my life.
I am because I'm in the middle of playing (very nearly all of) the entire UK Top 40 from 22nd January 1985 from 40 up to 1 (w/e 26th January and as featured on Top of the Pops on Thursday 24th and played in full on Radio 1 between 4 and 7pm on Sunday 27th). This was down from its peak of 21 to number 25,got Kool & the Gang, the Thomson Twins,ZZ Top and King (second highest new entry) to go before the Top 20.
WHAT A BLAST ...ONE OF THE BEST SONG'S EVER ...I WAS 18 THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS ...NOW 57, STILL GET GOOSE BUMPS... Alison Moyet, Peace and Love MY FRIEND
ahhh what a voice! How good the 80's were... even the songs that were not number one hits are fantastic and better than anything contemporary.... real artist.
Brings tears to my eyes to listen to her sing and to know i was a part of the 80s , it was the most fantastic time of my life where everything in my life made scene.
I'm here crying. What a beautiful song! What a beautiful voice! What a beautiful interpretation! She sings with her soul! This song was part of a soap opera here in Brazil in 85. I was 11 or 12 years old and I loved this song. She has a different voice, I thought it was a man who sang.
Really strong vocal as ever from Alison. Was her third solo single after Love Resurrection and All Cried Out,and just missed the top 20 but spent 9 weeks in the Top 40 around the Christmas and New Year period 1984-85.
This song always speaks to my heart ❤and the voice is like no one else in today music Anytime I need a good cry I turn on Alison Moyet ❤Thank you for the music the 80s was awesome ❤
Alison Moyet Invisible this talented lady is so underrated. I’ve got several of her albums and listen to her regularly. She knows how to express herself through her music. What a great talent she is.
Man, it brings me back to the best era of music of the 80s. I was in high school heard it first on the fm radio in Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 and then, sooner, on MTVs, and on famous tv lunch show each day by DJ named "Long Tall Howard" on music video in channel 2. Which I always tune in after "eat bulaga." Growing up in high school that this song becomes the soundtrack of everyday high school life, crushes ❤& infatuations, & parties. The only single hit by Allison that made our younger teen lives so memorable. Thank you Allison for this beautiful song 🎵 classic and irreplaceable. Allison Moyet had such a beautiful and powerful voice that were all gonna love it up to now in 2024.
