Far better than Adele, but not nearly as lauded for her talent as she should be! Love Alison's voice and was fortunate to have seen her in concert. Absolutely BRILLIANT! 👏👏👏👏👏👏🤗❤
I could stay and listen to this Song over and over again for hours, everyday... The voice of Alison Is simply marvellous ... It's like Paradise. Bravissima ❤ 👏👏👏
Now just over 40 year old it's definitely stood the test of time Alisons voice is undeniably different in so many ways she was amazing and would realise so many quality solo hits between 1984 an 1987 all brilliantly put together! 💙
Great female artist of the 1980s Such a beautiful and powerful voice This song was released in the summer of '84 May or June 1984 I turned 6 years old in the summer of '84 80s music forever Simply beautiful 😍 🤩
The British saved the music industry in the 80's with an audio reboot and a boatload of creativity and style. Sometimes unappreciated but not forgotten.
Underappreciated, yes. My husband and I are both American-born and bred, but due to his decades-long interest in punk he got exposed to a lot more British post-punk and 2 Tone ska because of overlapping genres in the fan base. I only heard the New Wave and ska songs that charted, unless I bought the album. And I wasn't old enough to get into clubs until '89 anyway. I had no idea XTC has such a large catalog, or that Madness put out so many videos and were so much more successful in the UK. I love the former for their diverse styles and themes, and the latter for being such nutty fun.
Well, for the first half of the 80s but by the second half people saw what Stock Aitken and Waterman were doing, churning out hits on a production line and that's when it started going downhill again. Early 90s and Rave kept things fresh but once the boy band and girl band thing took over it was back to made up puppet groups.
Bob bobson who is justin beiber and who cares? We love Alison Moyet. Your boy justin will be a distant memory when he is 58. Alison is still making music!! Idi spat mali decec!!
Oh my freaking goodness - in San Francisco for 10 days - jumped online to see what live music is happening - ALISON MOYET IS PLAYING THE FILLMORE ON MONDAY!!!!!!! TICKET BOUGHT!!!!
I'm again blown away by the gravitas of this song. It is a perfect eclipse of the visuals, the music, the lyrics and the vocals performed by a woman like no other. All culminating in a singularity of art only possible in the 80s. I simply can't comprehend the deep magik of that time.
1985 - finding a great album and you listen to it on repeat. cant decide between a couple of them. 2020 - finding a single song after a long time and you are happy you can listen to it on repeat.
Love Alison Moyet!!! I still have her first solo album w/ the hit All Cried Out”, one of the best underrated vocalists out there. Glad to see she’s on tour and c9ming to Germany in January!
Alison Moyets voice is one of the natural wonders of the world, brings back a lot of the 80s for me. Such a powerful, honest and heart rendering quality. IMO no other voice could’ve done her beautiful epic song the same justice. A woman of her talents for singing and songwriting should have scaled greater heights. It’s a pity she was crippled with social anxieties, weight problems and body image issues. I was surprised that she recently graduated with 1st class degree in Fine Art Printing from Brighton University, in England, not far from me. Thats a significant plus for a 60+ yr old with Dyslexia and ADHD issues🙏🏽
I love the naughty lyrics, "want you to grow in my hand".🤭 In the 80s I dismissed this as music for gay men, many of whom were my friends, but I wanted to meet rocker guys like Axl Rose. Anyway now I love this and realize its sexiness. Still love Axl. He should duet with Allison.
Me, at 4 AM 😊 I was sleeping but I was dreaming with this song in background. Once awake I found the song to listen it again. I love her voice and I love all she I love everything she sang, both as a solo artist and with Yazoo.
This song and video were SO ahead of their time. This album released when I was graduating high school. I wore out so many cassettes of Alison, Yaz, and Erasure in the 80s. Her new music is just as good. Thank you, Alison, for so many years and hours of listening pleasure.
2024 signs from around the world... now more than ever.... We all need LOVE resurrection.... A little DIVINE intervention... May the birth of the white buffalo 🐃 in Yellowstone be the sign our Indigenous brothers & sister's believe it to be. 🙏🪶💕❤️💕🌿🕊️🫶
I think one reason Adele sold more because she's more suited to pop; Adele, Amy Winehouse and others started this certain 'soulful' way of singing and pop fans jumped all over it (mainly because it wasn't all that soulful, it was watered down for kids' ears). These type of singers are now all over talent shows and the industry. But although there was pop in 1980's it feels the industry was still open to truly great talent then. I've never heard anyone else sing like Alison ever.
I am sick to almost death of people comparing Alison to Adele. Moyet is on a level way way out of Adele's wildest imagination. In 10 years people will be saying "Adele?". What's her last name.... And here we are still listening to Alison after 34 years.
adel who ,, allison will live on and on just listen people to what we danced to and hugged our loved ones on the dance floor 30 yeaars ago shall i go on ,, theres loads of great music just ask and you will be inspired cheers
Your generational bias is just sad. There's no point arguing with a zealot over what constitutes talent but the idea Adele will be forgotten in a decade is plainly ludicrous.
Mick Jamieson have absolutely no idea. I’ve got sand dunes near me that looks the same In Australia....could be anywhere. Middle East somewhere I should imagine.
Great year to be living in the music of the UK1984! Happy (as a Yank) to have been there! Thanks for the greatest music in a lifetime! (And movies too)
Lyrics 🎶 🎶 🎶 🎶 What can I do to make light of this dull dull day? What switch can I pull to illuminate the way? Show me one direction I will not question again For a warm injection Is all I need to calm the pain We all need a love (resurrection, just a little divine intervention) We all need a love (resurrection, just a little divine intervention) What seed must I sow to replenish this barren land Teach me to harvest, I want you to grow in my hand Let's be optimistic, let's say that we won't toil in vain If we pull together we'll never fall apart again We all need a love (resurrection, just a little divine intervention) We all need a love (resurrection, just a little divine intervention) We need love Resurrection (We need a love) Just a little divine (intervention) Show me one direction I will not question again, no, no For a warm injection Is all I need to calm the pain We all need a love (resurrection, just a little divine intervention) We all need a love (resurrection, just a little divine intervention) We need love Resurrection We need love (We need a love resurrection) (Just a little divine intervention) Resurrection (We need a love resurrection) (Just a little divine intervention) (We need a love resurrection) (Just a little divine intervention) resurrection Your Welcome 😉
