Watching Alison Roman roast Jon Lovett for 13 minutes was the HIGHLIGHT of my week! It's rare to see anyone put him in his place (besides Ronan). Her easy-going energy mixed with Jon's frenetic energy was so darn entertaining! I am excited to try making this pasta now. This needs to be a regular segment!!! Just please add more alcohol.

I only use the pre-peeled, vacuum packed garlic... and a garlic press :)

@@debbiedoodiedandi ..It doesn't taste fresh like garlic you have to peel, and the press brings out certain off/metallic flavors in the garlic that slicing/chopping with a sharp knife do not (and she did mention that it typically wastes some of the garlic as well.) Most professional chefs don't use many "shortcuts" - of course they often have prep cooks doing the work ahead of time ;-)

@@ataxia1973 That makes sense. I think I've just gotten to an age where it rubs me the wrong way when people take digs at the things others use in their kitchen like that. Maybe it works better for him & Ronan because they like to have garlic in the house, but they kept watching bulbs of garlic go bad on their countertop before they used it. I mean, of course everything's better with fresh, but sometimes you settle

@@debbiedoodiedandi But you can put normal, unpeeled garlic in the fridge and it will keep for months. Unlike the vacuum pack you can even pick one garlic at a time.

Lovett, it actually took you a full hour to cook these?!? You need practice. Keep at it, repeat the same recipe over and over again. Only broaden your repertoire once you nailed this one. And yes, ditch the plastic, in all forms.

But you need, at least, silicone utensils for use with non-stick cookware. Alison's main objection seemed to be melting, which is not an issue with silicone.

There is a sense of urgency required in the kitchen that newbies need to understand. Like I don’t have time to tell you have great your box flourish was, take the fucking breadcrumbs off the heat. Jesus. But like. It’s also not personal. Thigs can get intense in a kitchen, especially when a seasoned chef who’s movements come so naturally teaches a new chef. It’s gonna take a SHIT TON of patience from the pro and even more try hard from the new guy

Stop shooting vertical video please. No television, monitor or movie screen is vertical. The only screens that people seem to think this is OK for is if you happen to be watching on your phone and you can turn that sideways to watch properly.
