As an old fart (57) I don't exactly keep up with modern music. The one way I do keep up is through video games. So, yes, I am here because I play Forza Horizon 5, and after a few months of the catchy beat, harmonies, and getting little snippets of the lyrics now and then, I came here to get the full experience. This may be my favorite track of the last two decades. Never let anyone tell you music is getting worse, or that the "good old days" are over. This would have been a great song in 1983 and it's a great song today.

Sounds like the band continues to evolve. The lyrics are Skiba at some of his best invoking a very black and white noir. The music behind Matt’s voice has a way of building tension at all the right moments. I think this is a great song for them to release as a single. Cannot wait to see what the rest of the album has to hold.

After a few listens it sounds very intentional the way this was mastered..MSkiba vocals blended&smooth and w/Dans brighter harmonies in the background..you can hear the layers individually just enough to create that eerie blended tone ❤️ it hits hard right when it should and highlights the right shit at the right time; just how my ears hear it🌹

There was also a rock band called SR-71 during the late 90s to early 2000. Their most famous hit was called "Right Now," and they were the original authors of "1985," a song which would later be made famous by Bowling for Soup.

This feels like a classic Matt song from the old days (From Here to Infirmary - Crimson). I think it's better than most of the This Addiction and My Shame is True and it's probably my favorite new Alkaline Trio song in a long time.

PunkRockZombie205 Now that I've given it more listens I hear more of the last 2 albums in the song, especially in the first verse. Despite that the guitar work, the darker vibe, and the chorus remind me of Good Mourning and Crimson. I feel like the most lacking part is Skiba's vocal delivery which is much less powerful and raw than it was in the past. I do agree with you that the band has mellowed out and lost some of their spark but this is better than anything on the last blink record and I definitely prefer it to the sound of Agony and Irony and My Shame Is True. The new album isn't gonna be another Crimson but I think it'll be decent.

Sounds like an modern Trio song to me, honestly, very This Addiction/St Anthony tbh. At a stretch it has some Good Mourning influence but it's way too Major and Chorusey to be like their old stuff. For want of a better word their old stuff had more edge. More self depreciation, that habit of dropping in and out of chords, etc

Ecclesia Andune I'll agree that it is very chorus heavy and catchy but it's not too major by any means. The entire verse is in a minor key and the chorus is in a major key which is a classic trio formula (it's used on songs such as We've Had Enough, Time to Waste, Burn and more). And in my opinion there's never too much major in a trio song because some of the classics like Radio and Private Eye are entirely in a major key. The lyrics are definitely more like MSIT and this addiction but the guitar work and the song structure remind me of Good Mourning and Crimson a lot.

I know there's a lot of debate on the matter, and at first I was not thrilled that Matt joined Blink. (I love Blink, too and didn't want to see Tom replaced). But I really loved "California". That said... YES!!! New Alk3! When I saw they were playing a show here in October, I thought to myself "I really hope they come out with some new tunes before then." The sweet bastards aren't disappointing. I LOVE this song, and can't wait for the new album, and too see them live again. Welcome back, boys.
