If you work out, you can make an experiment. Drink some of that high PH water, and you'll notice you can do more repetitions, and you'll feel much less pain in the muscles. I used to mix 1/4 of a tea spoon of baking soda with half a liter of water 30 minutes before gym, and it worked every time for me. 40 mile bike rides were much easier. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that messed up my stomach for years though, but can't know for sure. I'm not drinking it anymore, and do not recommend to anyone due to potential side effects (incomplete digestion/upset stomach).

By alkaline they may imply that the alkalinity is high. If the alkalinity is due to a high bicarbonate (HCO3-) content it need not have a high pH
