One trick my prof taught me for remembering which one is Z is that the priority subs are on ZE ZAME ZIDE (she would say it in a silly french accent)

Thank yo so much! I learned so much from this. Would you be able to name example f (the one at 14:45)? I am just curious as to how that would be named.

Hi Lauren, sure. The name is (E)-2-bromo-4-chloropent-2-en-1,1,3-triol. You start the numbering system at the bottom left carbon with the two OH groups and continue up to the top right carbon for a total numbering system of five carbons (hence the pentene). When you have multiple alcohols you add the standard prefixes (di for two, tri for three, tetra for four, etc), this explains why we have the 1,1,3 triol at the end of the name. The rest of the name is standard substituent naming. This is a complicated structure and name. It is unlikely to appear in a typical organic chemistry class. Let me know if you have other questions. Hi. I have a doubt? which one cycloalkene is most stable between the first and third cycloalkene.? you have skipped that point and mentioned only that tetrasubstituted cycloalkene is most stable...................
