My views, Pros: 1. Consistently growing business 2. High entry barrier 3. Low competition 4. Growth in pharma industry Cons: 1. Pricing war 2. Dependent on other players doing well, hence can't push sales, need to wait for demand 3. Will grow like FMGC companies, since already penetrated, unless their customers grow 4. Challenging to maintain profit

I was going through Marcellus’ s LCP webinar and their portfolio manager spoke about Alkyls innovative way of manufacturing acetonitrile through acetic acid which is unique to them and is a eco friendly compound.

Negative pressure on margin will may compensate by increase in volume of sales and increasing other demand product prices having demand. also capacity increase also helps to reduce cost of product. Video is very well analysed as usual. very good. chart of product and its derivatives would have helped to understand subject more easily.

Great analysis. But my conclusion would be opposite to yours actually: - The margin compression will take some time to play out as acrylonitrile production will not get ramped up in a hurry with the cglobal auto demand continuing to be soft. So Alkyl Amines may enjoy the elevated margins for a year or two more and hence they may be a good short term (1-2 years) - In the long term, there will definitely be margin compression and the earnings and valuations will return to the earlier levels

Thank you. You are a real source of information and role model for stock investing. My opinion is that at the current valuations, there is hardly any margin of safety in the business. Most of the premium is being paid for the future prospects of the companies (Both Alkyl and Balaji) which no one can be sure of. Warren Buffet with two rules of investing also spoke highly of Margin Of Safety which I believe is lacking in these businesses at the current valuations. If you find time, I would like to know your opinion on Oriental Carbon and Chemicals who is into the business of manufacturing Insoluble Sulfur. They cater majorly to auto sector which is cyclical in nature but they seem to have some pricing power. Similar to amines business, OCCL is the largest player in India and have good global presense too. But I am a little worried about the capacity expansions coming from other global players (Mainly China). Have you looked at this business ?
