Did you know: Every avatar fixed the mistake of the previous one. Sceto focused on fire Nation, so yanchen had to fix the world, but ignored the spirits. This meant kuruk had to make peace and fight with spirits, and died as new problemd arose. Then kyoshi had to bring peace to the world and because shes the goat made no mistakes. Roku caused hundred year war. Aang ended it but caused nomad extinction. Korra revived them but lost connection to the previous avatars.
I think that Kora was destined to be the last avatar bcz if you pay attention to the seen where they enter the secret room in one the air temple there was only one more space for an avatar and also it seems that every 10000 years a new avatar cycle would begin bcz every 10000 years harmonic conversion occur. Any ways this was a content creater's theory not mine
No, he wasn’t a firebender, Avatar Wan was originally a non-bender just like the other residents who lived on the top of the fire lion turtle, and the lion turtle gave him the fire power so he can defend himself from the spirits in his exile, so it doesn’t make him a firebender, and this is where everyone gets mistaken

Because the original firebenders were the dragons as it was said in ATLA by the leader of the sun warriors, and you can see that during Wan’s exile, the dragon trained him how to use the fire properly and masterfully. During the era of Avatar Wan, the bending powers were primitive for humans and they didn’t master them, also when the people and the spirits saw Wan using all the 4 elements at once they were shocked and scared. The thing is that all the people in Wan’s era, including Wan himself, weren’t BORN as benders, the lion turtles gave them the powers to use the elements, but they were not true benders, because the first true benders were the dragons (fire), the flying bisons (air), the fish spirits (water) and the moles (earth). These creatures taught the humans how to bend properly each element.
He was an avatar for a good amount of time, he lived in the mansion as kyoshi was a servant there(that's how they meet and become friends), they trained him as if he was the avatar until they found out he wasn't @

To confused ATLA/LOK fans, Genji is NOT canon he's from a fanmade comic after Korra. The actual next avatar will release in 2025, not sure when but Genji is fanamade character.

Aang acutally did have time and tried to learn it in the comics. But he failed Aang did not succeed in learning metalbending. Toph said he didn´t have the stomach to do so.

That is because the art of airbending opposes Korra´s personality and bending style. She likes to take things head on and in the beginning was not very spiritual. Where as airbending is all about spirituality and evasiveness. Hence it was so difficult for Korra.
What about avatar gun, we don’t know his age or when he was avatar but he was a water avatar and the one that possessed avatar yangchen. He lost faith in himself and humanity and made yangchen watch the flood/tsunami he couldn’t prevent the tsunami, that made him hate himself. He also possessed her a second time to ask yangchens friend why she should have faith in humanity. Gun is sometimes called The only evil avatar
Gun was not evil (that is just a fan misinterpretation because fans want an evil avatar) + not confirmed to be water avatar + did not actively possess Yangchen to talk to her friend ("possessed" Yangchen merely repeats memories of past avatars, so they're not truly aware nor attempting to do anything.)
so if Korra lost connection to past avatars then Genji or whoever the next avatar is will regain connection of past avatars but make another mistake that the next avatar will have to fix.
Genji is not a future avatar as he isn't canon, he's a fan made character. Korra wasn't aang's opposite in every way she was a lot like him in many ways. Aang didn't give Korra the ability to energy bend, all avatars have this ability when they enter the avatar state and she unlocked the state all on her own. You also used a picture of a young Hei Ran when mentioning kuruk's spiritual mentor. The next avatar doesn't need to restore the past lives as it's unnecessary. The past lives rarely have the right answers for the current avatar, aang being a good example. Every avatar ultimately has to make their own decisions for their own era so the past lives aren't really needed, the guidance korra can give is enough.
I'm sorry,..bt didn't Aang(I'm talking abt Prime Aang),..help Korra reconnect with all her previous Avatar states,..so going forth I don't see that being an issue with the following Avatar.... I can't remember if its before or after her fight with Vaatu,... I knw Wan was the 1st Avatar,..bt that was only possible due to his merge with Raava,..I don't think you could classify him as a Firebender,.bcoz at that point the 4 nations didn't exist to the extent that you see in the time of the 2nd cycle of the avatar,...
