Watch as the first #Pendolino arrives at the Alstom Widnes depot, marking the beginning of a major refurbishment programme for the iconic tilting train. This video features the number 390125 Pendolino (having travelled over 5.1 million miles), which will be back in service after the makeover with the following upgrades:
• Replacement of Standard Class seats
• Conversion of First Class carriage to hold extra Standard Class seats
• New Cafe Bar
• Improved lighting and new interior carpets
• Passenger information screens
• Power points at all seats
• More luggage space
• Refurbished toilets
Alstom Project Manager Nigel Sanderson talks us through some of the improvements to be made in this video, giving a run-through of how long each refurbishment will take and how they hope to reduce the working time for the rest of the fleet's upgrades. Current completion date is projected to be February 2024, but this may be brought forward once accelerated work begins on the nine-car trains in the Avanti West Coast fleet.
