There are many Anatolian Shepherd rescues out there but if you are thinking about adopting one, just remember they love to work and have a job. It fulfills their purpose and makes them happy and healthy. One of my favorite breeds of dog, Belly is an amazing pup with a wonderful personality!

Glad to know you read the comments. Because I want you to know the joy you and your pack have brought into my life. Lee, you have the biggest heart I have seen. Since I was born (63) years ago, there has always been dogs in my life. As a matter of fact when I was an infant, my mother was in the kitchen cleaning up while I napped. We had 2 boxers, one was laying by my crib suddenly I went into convulsion, my fever shot up and I was shaking so hard the crib was shaking. The boxer, started barking and running into the kitchen and back to me. My mother came running, grabbed me, called the doctor and then jumped into the bathtub with me and got my temperature down. Dogs have always been the best thing God has gifted us with. We always had boxers, they are great with children. I had a Yorkie (Pablo Picasso) for 15 years, he was always there for me when I lost each one of my parents. When it was his time to go join my parents, my daughter had to get a group of friends to talk to me one night to convince me it was time. He had a stroke and was never the same, nor was I. Now I have a rescue she is lab and retriever mix Gracie and Chip who’s mother was a Yorkie shih tzu mix and father was full chihuahua. You can imagine what that mixture is like, 10 pounds of crazy love who happens to be on your CBD oil. Watching your love for all animals is the best thing I do every day, you restore my faith daily that there are people who still have hearts. With so much bad, you and your pack are the best thing to watch. When I retire if you need someone to just clean up after them, I’m your person. Because watching your love for all your pack, just makes me feel better about everything. Don’t ever stop, I talk about your videos and send and share with everyone I know. Sorry my comment has turned into a short story but I wanted you to know I feel very blessed that I found Asher House to watch. Always watching Cheryl

I have an Anatolian shepherd mix. From DNA test he is 50% Anatolian, 25% Azawakh and 25% unknown mix. I live in an apartment with him and a female Husky. He is more dominant then her but she is waaaaaaay more confident. He is very fearful and used to curl up in a corner whenever dogs showed interest in him. He got used to the dogs in the neighborhood and made some friends and i thought we were over that but as he grew, he became aggressive to new dogs and to some people. We are working on his aggression issues outside with a lot of success. But the guarding thing....barking at noises outside is a though one to deal with. We sometime go to a dog park which is practically in the middle of nowhere and always empty but he always hear stuff and barks and i don't see anything for miles. The thing about being outside is very true. We have a very small balcony in the apartment and he spends most of his time there and on walks he just asks to stop the walk and lay in the grass. He can do that for hours. I hope next year we will move to a place with more outside space for him.

Love the channel and your mission Lee. I saw this one about Belly today and remember the crazy way he and Mugsy became part of your pack. When I saw them and as I’ve enjoyed watching them grow, they have reminded me so much of my friend’s flock guardian dog who is an anatolian/sarplaninac intentional crossbreed. I saw the litter and some looked more like Mugsy and others looked like Belly. They become massive but have excellent temperaments and are natural flock protectors and guardians. Her female is 180 lbs at three years old and is incredibly gentle and affectionate with her (my friend weighs about 110). Males grow to be bigger. My friend has a farm and had issues with predators including a bear who killed many of her goats. But no longer since this dog grew enough to grow into her job. She also chooses to be outside. Strangers have to be introduced thoughtfully but she’s a smart pup and understands introductions and then the stranger is allowed but watched as long as my friend is there. If they are frequent visitors she understands and is less watchful but I still wouldn’t go on her property unannounced. I love this dog for who she is. If I moved more remote I would consider this wonderful cross. I have another friend who has several purebred Anatolians, average weight 150, who patrol her sanctuary and they are loving to her family but not safe with others except through a fence because of their incredible strength and power, not because they are mean. Fascinating pups and sweet, just rowdy and true guardians. Not for everyone, not even me with all my experience in rescue, because of the density of my location, but amazing.

Lee, I rescued this little girl dog ( Stella) who had been abandoned. I absolutely adore her but…. She barks excessively at people walking down the street, when I walk her, at other dogs. She’s not bitten or snapped. We did her dna to find out the breeds & she’s mostly miniature wire haired Doxie with poodle & terrier mix. She’s about 16 lbs. she looks more terrier than anything else. Basically, once she’s in contact with dogs & people she seems fine. To me, I see fear as the cause. I don’t know & wish I could give her a better life with fuller activities but some would be afraid of her. She is loved & spoiled and she has my daughters 2 dogs & my sons 2 dogs as companions. Any advice would be much appreciated. Stella is now about 6. I love your videos & love what you do for all your dogs. Your heart is enormous and we love you for it.

Hi Lee, we we go to the dog park, there’s a fence that separates the big dogs over 30 lbs;the smaller dogs (our Westies ) are on the other side. As soon as ours realize where they are, the barking begins and they race to the fence to bark and run back and forth barking at rack turn to run back down. The big dogs race back and forth barking at each turn. I think it’s the fence that causes my male to act aggressive. Even when a new small dog comes and is getting out of the car, the male runs to the gate and barks ferociously. He jumps on the other little dog (his size) growling and eventually they all settle down. My female isn’t aggressive at all and greets the new dog with affection. How can I stop the male’s behavior. Or is it too late? They will be three this June 2023.

I'm so so SO happy you've started this series about describing the dogs. Bellamy, one thing I'd like to add about him is that on walks he likes to be aware of where you are. He'll keep coming to be near you before trotting off. Also I've commented before that I noticed Bentley showing 'herding' tendencies. She likes to keep an eye on which dog is where. She also has a very calm energy. I was very surprised to know that Bellamy is loud. I intuitively knew he would be submissive, but was happy to learn he has a loud bark. He seems like that child who sticks near the parents even when a little grown up. Really looking forward to this series. Will the dogs' personalities match with my impression of them? Can't wait. I love Callie... Because how can you not love a golden, and Bentley and Pom poms, and the Rocket sprocket Copper and Rollie the Pollie, and Bo. And all of them. We don't see Mugsy so much anymore. Did he bite you once? On the upper cheek? Your new dog Clyde is physically the most beautiful... Even more than Loba.

Than you very much, Lee, for introducing your viewers to individual members of your pack. When the pack was half the size it is now, I felt that I knew the whole pack. Now that there’s 30 of them, don’t know the names, breeds, or personality of the second half. It made me feel distanced from them. Please keep posting more videos about the 10 or 15 newer members of the pack. Sending hugs to you and the entire pack.

This is a BRILLIANT idea Lee! I watch every single video you post, going back to the Dodo ones, and there are many I watch multiple times. So I am familiar with most of the dogs and their histories. But I've noticed a few new ones (new to me) lately and also some that are no longer there (and I'm not talking about the beautiful souls that have begun their journeys over the Rainbow Bridge 🌈 ) but perhaps were fosters or simply not on every walk. Can't wait to be introduced and learn more about everyone. Thank you for including us in this amazing and magnificent journey 💜

Sabrina was totally unexpected and u swear she died of a broken heart because we had to keep her separated. The 24/7 care ❤ company at the end of dads life told us we had to. And she just started losing weight. And died. I will have another dog someday. I'm positive of it.

Yes, we rescued a Anatolian Shepherd pup and she is definitely an alpha on our farm. She is super sweet to people and anything baby. She strategically marks our property line by dropping a great big poop and seems to help keep away coyotes. If predators enter the farm she is on them and runs them off. I love this breed. Thank you for highlighting rescuing Anatolian Shepherds. Sweet dogs but tough on predators!!! Always enjoy your videos 🙏🏾

Lee has hit the sweet spot. He shows some sad cases but makes having dogs look like so much fun. My son & I have discussed that we need to imitate that. Shelter pets r showcased in short bits on local news. Rocky Kanaka does a great job , like Lee, showing shelter dogs & shows how much they can do despite bad conditions. My son got his bachelor's in film & wants to see if he can find a way to film like Lee. ASPCA runs commercials all the time & its heartbreaking & hard 2 watch. But ads dont show good results. Plus Lee has learned to show fun videos people want to watch. My son is in Oregon & has volunteered at local shelter & Lee has given him great ideas. Everyone can't have a sanctuary but everyone can help shelters. He has been inspired by Lee's videos here's hoping we can catch that "lightening in a bottle"

As you were talking about protective breeds, we actually have a Romanian raven shepherd who was a rescue from Romania at 16 weeks old. He had the worst past over there and was thankfully found and brought over to the UK. He has lived with us since. He is now 4 years old. He is a very very big dog. He weighs 6 stone 9 currently but he's lost 2 stone and was just over 8 stone, which for the breed is about normal. They tend to go to 9 stone if not more. He is 5ft 8 on 2 legs and his body is thick, huge coat so he looks even bigger. He is the classic raven so jet black all over and has a small white patch on the under tail and a larger one on his chest. But everywhere else is black with very very dark colour eyes. Naturally in Romania he would be out from birth in the mountains guarding livestock from birth to death with only his pack, and little or no human interaction. He is very very protective of his family, which is 2 adults, 6 kids and 13 cats and kittens at min. We have raised him with cats and kittens and small children and he treats everyone like they are his pack with no exceptions. He is very loyal and protective, he guards his house and whoever he is with all the time. He has a massive loud bark that can be heard up the road from our house and everyone knows if he barks that something is up. It's like a one dog neighbourhood watch. He's also super fast and has super fast reflexes, and is incredibly strong. The flipside of that is he is soooooo affectionate with his family. He loves to play and mess around and has a box of his fav toys that he treats like they are the best things in the world. If he was Egyptian he would be buried with them😂. Sometimes he forgets he is a self appointed guard of the whole UK and when he plays he goes all out. Squeaky ice creams fly across the room so he can catch them. He loves football and is a stellar goal keeper. He can also dribble and kick the ball and pass it to people. He loves cuddles and when he sits on you your staying there 😂 I think he displays a lot of the anatolian traits and I just wanted to share for that reason. I've never seen a anatolian dog before so this has been a treat for me to watch and learn about them a little. It's amazing. My big bear sends huge love for all that you do.

My 3 year old nephew was deathly afraid of dogs. At a lakeside camp, a free roaming Golden Retriever headed towards him and my nephew froze in fear. The dog instantly stopped, got down on his belly and put his paw out to my nephew. The dogs owner assured my boy that the dog wanted to make friends with him and encouraged contact. With my brother by his side, my nephew patted the dog, eventually sat beside him, and they became best friends that day and spent every day together for the vacation week. Again, in the fall, at the school bus stop, a huge black Newfie came by on a leash. Nephew clung to me for dear life. This dog also got down on his belly and wiggled his way to my nephew for a pat. In no time my nephew would be upset if his giant black dog was not around to pat before the bus came. Dogs know and can be very compassionate. I hope you soon meet a pup that will steal your heart.

My dad recused an Anatolian Shepard. The dog had been shot (only a graze)and my dad found him. He named him “The Big Ugly” because he was in rough shape at the time. But Ugly was the sweetest guy and also was super submissive with my dad’s alpha female Chaser. Ugly was the best shepherd of the farm. He would tag along with Chaser the female. He did everything she wanted to do or go where she wanted to go. I think he was guarding her to be honest.

I hadn’t realized that your pack had grown so much😂. What a wonderful idea this series will be!! Looking forward to learning about the breeds and the individual personalities of each dog. Quick question: Have you ever gone to rescue a dog and found that it wasn’t a good fit with your pack? It seems like everyone you rescue they fit right in!

I call it doggie dynamics! I work as a dog handler and groomer. You absolutely nailed it by talking about breed characteristics, play style, and prey drive . All of which are behaviors that are prevalent and unique to each of the different breeds. For example Dogs like Great Pyrenees are nocturnal, hounds howl, herding breeds Will herd and direct, scent and sight hounds are prey driven and we simply just have companion only dogs. Several Breeds such as the Anatolian, Malinois, Shepherds and many of the herding breeds need a job and if left to their own accord will create their own within the pack. I too have a love for animals and my passion and obsession is with Dogs! I admire all you do for these beautiful wonderful little beasts, you have so much love and compassion for them!! I have an amazing dog named EmmyLou she is an English American Bulldog.

I have been waiting for this series!!!! I try to watch the behavior of different dogs in the background of your videos and I can’t wait to see if my assessments are close! Also side note: I can’t wait to learn more about Copper… I think I foster failed his twin soul…. And Xena because her little battles with the rocks give me life! “Xena, leave it!” Gets me every time!!!!!!

I'm REALLY looking forward to this video series!! I am dogless for the first time since 1990. All lived long lives and came into my life for the most part from people I knew, co-workers, friends, friends of friends, etc except my first. My first I adopted from a shelter. My life has changed a lot , long story, and I'm now mostly homebound in a wheelchair but am only 58 and have a lot of life and love still in me! It's just very hard to get to shelters and am searching mostly online. Your descriptions will be the closest to in person I can get and if I can determine a breed perhaps I can find a rescue to work with me. Thank you!!

I used to work for UPS, and my absolute favorite dog on my route was Bob, a GSD Anatolian shepherd mix. He definitely took more after the Anatolian, always checking his yard but got SO excited when we came to deliver. He was so incredibly fluffy and handsome. He had a "brother" that was a great Dane named Sarge, who was quite literally the wimpiest giant dog I've ever met 😂 but he also loved his lovins from UPS. They had to get him a miniature horse sized blanket to fit him 😂😂

My very large pit bull named "Z". I had an emergency work trip come up and had to make the uncomfortable decision to have him stay at a "pet hotel". While I was away, I'd call to check on him and was told he was lethargic and not eating (he was checked out and had no illnesses) so I rushed home. Needless to stay, straight out of the car, into the house and right to his door ... he patrolled the property, checked every nook & cranny inside & out, checked his toys, his bed, my bed and every room in the house, went around again & barked to let everyone know he was "on duty" then promptly sat on my lap for the next hour. He was bored and had no job or purpose at the pet hotel .... best boy ever!!

A year ago, someone dumped a puppy on our road and me being me, we ended up with him. lol We have a large fenced in yard and he shares it with our Mini Aussie Koda (who is alpha), and another dumped baby, Hollie (black mouth cur mix). Clyde is an Anatolian mix. He is very large, sweet, protective, and comes in the house to say hello then heads back outside. All I can say is whoever dumped him missed out on a lot of love! He keeps the mole population under control and is very protective with me (the only female in the family). Thank you for spotlighting this breed!

This is a good series focus - explaining each dog's temperament, personality, breed etc. I'll keep notifications on for each episode of this. This one was good about the Anatolian Shepherd 'Belly' but because there were so many dogs in this footage, I didn't see so much of 'Belly'. Although I have seem 'Belly' in other videos.

I used to have a friend that raised milk goats, and some of the dogs she had to guard them were the same breed as Belly. She discouraged me from interacting with them. They were brave, courageous and protective, and all about 'business'....doing their job. She would get them when they were puppies and raise them with the herd.

What is ur take on Mini Pitcher? I would love to know. I truly enjoy hearing the different breeds n what comes along with that breed. It great to know b4 u decide to get a certain breed n than to fine out bc u didn't do ur homework that they aren't the right fit for ur family. The sad thing tho is now what happens to that baby!!! Always do ur homework, so u get that prefect one🐶

You young man are a remarkable human being. The love and care you give to all creatures, is inspiring. You give a voice to those that have no voice of their own. Whether for years or a short time only, these animals experience unconditional love (maybe for the first time in their little lives) because of you.

Every dog has their own personality just like people. They re as individual as we are. Thank you Lee for doing this. All breeds are different too. We have two, male, havanese/poodle pups now 15 mos. old. We also have the runt of the litter with his brother, Ethan, who is bigger than Ezra. Ezra, the runt, is definitely the ALPHA MALE and let's his brother know that hourly. He eats first, Ethan hangs back, then eats. It's crazy. Ezra then grabs the bones or treats under and away from his brother while his brother just sits there. It's a dominance thing The Havanese breed is an old one and they were smuggled in from Havana, Cuba. They are very sweet, gentle and loving dogs. We wanted that with 7 grandkids. Also poodles are super intelligent, have stellar physical attributes and fortify these other breeds and are hypoallergenic and don't shed. A win win for out allergy sufferers. These dogs LOVE everyone esp kids!!! They are very protective but not aggressive at all. They do bark but would not hurt anyone. These dogs are velcro, couch potatoes boys but love, love, everyone and all animals!! So far so good! They do get a little over-excited when people come over just wanting to love on them so much. A little training is needed for sure! Lee, it's awesome what you are doing. Each dog has his place and personality. It's amazing how accepting they are of each other. Like they know. Just beautiful! I have my dogs on YOUR CBD oil too! Blessings Lee and love! Keep your positive affirmations and manifestations going! They work!🙏❤️🤗🌞😇 🙌🙌 Sorry for the novel!😊
