I like the idea of a number of us Pagans in isolation lighting a candle at noon on Beltane. As a Pagan living alone, I will do that.

This year for Beltane, on Scarlet's Discord server some of us are meeting up over zoom to do a small candle lighting ritual. It would be so much nicer if we could all do it in person, but hey, it's something ^^

Thanks for the great video. My wife and I were married on Beltane (well May 3) many years ago and this brings back some wonderful memories. We had a handfasting at a rose garden in Houston (pat of Hermann Park) with all the trimmings. My wife died nearly 7 years ago but I will light a candle for her on Beltane.

This was very interesting. I never think much of beltain because I thought it was about fertility. I am a 52 yo grandmother so I ain’t too intersected in fertility! lol. Being the counter part to samein is interesting. I have always thought May Day was special even growing up Christian. To me it is the beginning of summer and I have always felt like it was a holiday even though it is nothing in Christianity . So cool. I feel my ancestors and guides have always been guiding me to my ancient roots. Paganism is feeling so right to me like coming home

this is really interesting! It reminds me a lot of the celebrations we have in Sweden. We celebrate the first of way by lighting a big communal bonfire! There's a big fire and everyone meets up to hang out, talk and just have a good time!

Ah, is it Valborgsnatten? Also known as Walpurgis Night! 😃 As a Norwegian I have to say, I really admire the way you’ve made Midsummer such a great traditional celebration in Sweden! I hope to be a part of that someday, or perhaps find a way to make it a bigger celebration in my community! 🤗✨✨ As well as Beltane, of course! I hope you and your community are doing well and taking care, söta syster 🤗💕

Ida Bel Mekki. Your people invaded the North of England in the 8th century. Most of us in the North have scandinavian DNA. This is evidenced by many having the DNA tests. My accent is an off shoot of the vikings. Many people laugh at us. I just say blame the Swedish. Joking. Its weird to think we are closely connected.

Hooray! Hooray! The first day of May We can all go outside naked today! It’s typically at the time of year where is nice enough to go outside without being heavily dressed and get a good dose of vitamin D. The fires with some herbs help keep the bugs at bay to protect that newly exposed skin. The early planted greens and other veggies are ready to be harvested. There might be some leftover winter crops that need to be eaten before they go bad. So have a party to clear out those old food stores before they go bad!

I'm casting a circle of candles on Beltane as a wey to symbolize bonfire since I can't do one here I also plan on bringing in yellow flowers to complete the circle and maybe casting their pedals along the canal. 2023 Beltane marks a whole year of my practice. So it's a very special sabbat. I guess techniqually yule would've marked a full year but Beltane marks the beginning of my second year of witchcraft.

My mother is Pagan which led to my interest in Paganism which I celebrate the holidays as my mom has taught me. I see many older folks in the comment section which I am just barely an adult (17 but will be 18 in June) My mom is planning out a bonfire as we do every year. We weren't able to do during 2020 to 2021. This year we can. I invited my boyfriend to join. He isn't Pagan he is not really at all into any beliefs but he likes hearing me talk about this stuff cause he still finds the knowledge on it interesting even if he doesn't believe. I just am happy he is gonna celebrate cause past relationships my partners written off my beliefs as weird & never let me talk about Paganism without mocking me. He may not believe but he likes when I talk about it & that my belief has a positive effect in my life.

Beltane... Ba'altane. Passing through fire while screaming and weeping... I don't know anything about the festival, but I'd guess its origins go way back to when people used to sacrifice their children through fire to Ba'al. A real wholesome tradition you've got there.

THANK YOU for the distinction between the "wheel of the year" (wiccan) and the Irish pagan divisons 💝. Also people reading this using Beltane is the anglicized version of Bealtaine (bee-ull-tin-a). The word is still used commonly in Ireland as the "month of May" so it may be more appropriate to use Bealtaine instead of Beltane for obvious reasons.. if we say Samhain properly (sow-in) then saying Bealtaine shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

How’s everyone of you celebrating Beltane without valpurgis the day before? They’re connected. ♥️ Traditionally your make a fire on the last of April for represent the month April, spiritual pregnancy, wishes. And dance into the 1st of may. Which represent the month may, physical birth, wishes coming true. I personally view these two days as allmothers and allfathers wedding or nature’s birthday. Female + male marrying = birth of life. The word valborg literally means womb. Val = a big space (valhall), borg = castle, protection. 🥰

I'm from the southern hemisphere (Australia 😅) and would love to begin celebrating the sabbaths but my biggest struggle is that everything I mostly see is American so I never know if I should celebrate them as you guys do or in accordance with my own seasons. Celebrating per season makes more sense to me as it provides a connection to nature, butttt with Beltane (aka. MAY day) should I still celebrate in May? Or is it more a seasonal based? I don't know if any of that made sense, sorry if it came out kind of jumbled..

Witches and Wiccans (and no, they are not the same, they are different) come in many different forms and individual beliefs that can span different pantheons of gods, goddesses and so on. Some witches/wiccans are religious while others are Atheistic. Some worship gods and/or goddesses while others worship spirits or the earth itself. Some are monotheistic, some are duel theistic, others are polytheistic. They can worship gods and/or goddesses from different pagan faiths such as Celtic, Greek, Norse, and/or Slavic paganism and they can also cross-worship gods from different faiths (depending on the individual). NOTE: Witches and Wiccans do not worship Satan/Lucifer (some witches do, but they are harmless and actually help people). Notable deities/forces that witches and Wiccans worship are the earth itself as well as Hecate (the Greek goddess of magic, crossroads, choice, and time). Hope this was informative and please feel free to do your own research regarding witch and wiccan belifes.

I should state that I am an Omnist, meaning I accept all religions, not believing any one of them the true/superior religion, and that all religions have varying degrees of truths and/or helpful lessons that can help humans learn to be better. If you wish to learn more about paganism and the many faiths under that description, I recommend seeking out and talking to practitioners rather than just reading. A good place to start would be Salem, Massachusetts. Once a place of witch hunts and persecution to all who were pagan, it is today a haven for witches, wiccans, and other pagan and "non-mainstream" religious practitioners and they are all friendly and welcoming towards others. Pagans especially get along well with Buddhists and Hindus due to their many shared beliefs. While reading stuff on the internet can be helpful, there are many sites where false information is propagated. Additionally, just like mainstream religions, pagan religions have their own factions of hate groups and racist's who use their religion to promote toxic and twisted ideologies. One of these major groups are called Folkist's and they basically use the various pagan religions as an excuse to promote racism and hate, so always check to make sure what your reading is not influenced by them or other extremist groups. Aside from Scarlet Ravenswood, other great and insightful pagan RU-vidrs include: Ocean Keltoi www.youtube.com/@OceanKeltoi/featured Wolf The Red ru-vid.com/show-UC0sVhVo3gtKw5y8U8VJo1ig kushka has thoughts ru-vid.com/show-UCWl1IksJLr5VUDjrQS6V4ow The Oak Witch ru-vid.com/show-UCO2YbkVStQVDxLaSLODo5rg Nordic Animism www.youtube.com/@NordicAnimism/videos The witches' cookery ru-vid.com Celtic Aalie www.youtube.com/@CelticAalie/videos Aliakai www.youtube.com/@Aliakai/featured Northworthy Sagas & Stories www.youtube.com/@NorthworthySagasStories/videos Norse Magic and Beliefs www.youtube.com/@norsemagicandbeliefs8134 NOTE! Do not watch any videos of or associate with the RU-vidr called The Wisdom of Odin. He is a known racist who wrongfully uses his religion to brainwash people. All of the channels listed above will also tell you this and will also tell you who else to avoid. In their videos they also list books/sources best to read and which ones might contain misinformation or bias. I hope this was helpful and good luck 😃👍

Hello I'm a baby witch and I want to get started with some practice but I need some guidance... Could you please help me? Like what should I do now?

I recommend starting by observing the cycles of the moon, sun, and seasons. I've found keeping a calendar with the dates of the full/new moon and the pagan holidays is a great way to start to become more connected with nature and the spirits. If you're just starting I recommend reading "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. Hope that helps. :)
