I'm a nursing student on placement in an oncology ward, and this video is very helpful helping me to understand aspects of the chemotherapy care. Thanks so much!
Taking an injection 5 years ago and the Nurse worried about giving it to me. First easy bruising confusion Dexamethisone-induced adrenal shutdown-induced cushings like syndrome steroid psychoses is a living hell and hard to explain but the loss of friends and family sure was easily enough noticeable but they couldn't explain anything. Dexamethasone locked me in a torture chamber without a key to escape. easy bruising waking in hell-like dark scary places vertigo. all almost 6 years but no full recovery in sight. swelling from poison ivy and a product to help it. Be surprised someday if they put a law out to euthanize people for suffering too much. Considering it would be murder. Dartmouth knew it should not be giving me this injection. Off-topic but the truth needed to be recognized by some.
@@trafficjon400 That sounds terrible! I'm sorry you were so badly affected. However, people can be allergic to certain medications or even whole classes of medication. It's not a conspiracy.
FINALLY! I am on chemo for breast cancer and my tryglicerides have gone way up. None on my oncologist habe given me an answer.... and I am on a diet since I started treatment! Well guess what? My dexamethasone seems to be the cause! This video is priceless!!!!!
Your ignorance of what dexamethsone cause to the brain. many people who took dexa- don't know what they are living for anymore suffering the horrific side effect Damage.
Dexamethisone might save lives if your wiling to live like a usless lower person who knows something horrible has been done by the drug but live with out explaination.
I keep coming back to this as I enjoyed it so much . . . a ather comprehensive yet succinct presentation that helped me much better understand some of my 'side-effects' as I begin my myeloma journey . . . Best Wishes to You and Your family in the New Year!
I had to take it post brain surgery and radiation therapy for like a half a year, when I tell you I was emotional I was e m o t i o n a l. Like angry crying at 3 am for a chicken sandwich lol. And the WEIGHT GAIN omg! Don't miss that.
This stuff changed my life for the better but big Parma wants us in constant pain on other things with many other pill cocktails. No thx. This stuff is life changing for me.
@r3drift I know what your trying to say? Your probably still suffering from the causes of this evil drug. I sure am and taken the injection 6 years ago suffering still from what it did to my brain receptors . I still wake daily shaking with the ability not even able to make coffee spilling it. 6 years ago I was a very healthy out going person and now it takes strength to even explain simple things when waking and up to hours for my ability to think of what i am doing or living . Dexamethasone also took away my belief in a Soul or religion.
Oh my goshhh this has explained so much, thank youuu!! The doctors don’t explain this stuff, they’re more focused on the chemo drugs and those side effects, but so many of my side effects make more sense!
Happy this helps! It can be hard for doctors to convey so much information while having a patient in the clinic for such little time. This is one of the reasons we started HealthTree University!
Im asian guy 66 yr old takes Dexa 1 mg initially for acute gout athritis on my right hand fingers . Very effective in just less than 5 min the pain &!swelling disappears. Continued taking it for 7 days . Side effects: slight insomia, feel light and active, stimulates my brain, improves appetite. Gout reoccurs after 6 months. Generic Dexamethasone is very affordable here in the Philippines cost USD .09 cents
I’m here because I got Dex prescribed right after a tooth extraction… was nervous to take it. Come to find out it’s for the inflammation & pain do to the extraction . I was prescribed 2 pills 4 mg each which is nothing compared to what others are being prescribed. I took those 2 pills just now- like candy. 😅 I have to take one more pill tomorrow after I eat, just like tonight. I just hope it doesn’t mess with my sleep. I need to sleep lol . 💕 Thank you so much for this awesome & such informative video! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
As a multiple myeloma patient, I am taking 40 mg of dexamethosone once a week. I have experienced insomnia, hiccups, and GI issues. Taking this corticosteroid for one and a half years now, since my diagnosis. It's not the most pleasant of meds, but if it gets rid of the cancer, I'll tolerate it.
New patient. This video has given me so much confidence. I was afraid to take the meds 8mg. I listen to the video over again and started to feel good. I’m taking my meds. Thank you sir!!!
@@samrafarooq830 However, dexamethasone has a lot of side effects on me. The worst is insomnia - at the beginning, with high dosage, I could not sleep for 40 hours or more. Now that I have a lower dose, I can get 2-4 hours sleep. Also gives me stomach problems, mainly bloating. Recently I notice it eats up magnesium, so I cramp up on my toes or fingers. I have to take Mg supplement to counter.
I was on 6mg for 36 days straight by mistake and never weaned off, lots of issues because of that some of my tendons were bulging out my skin also now have a mild case of neuropathy.
Dexamethasobe in the form of spray is the best product so far for nasal polyps for me, total relief for hours.I have been searching for years for something like this.
I was taking dexamethasone for 2 weeks and it made me swell up everywhere and ive been like this for 2 months now no doctor has tried to help either I wish someone would make a RU-vid video on how to get rid of the swelling
I took this while I was in the hospital for 5 days straight and I actually felt extremely bloated, had random heart palpitations with hunger and insomnia. Don't like the feeling.
5 1/2 years ago 1 injected Dexamethasone and not recovered and doctors don't know when i ever will recover. I lost family friends and dying is all I think about. going through horrible things i can't understand and Doctor said Dexamethasone induced adrenal shutdown and induced Cushings Syndrome in a used-to-be healthy person because of poison ivy-like symptoms.
What kind of seizure does decadron withdrawal cause ? My mom has been on decadron for months ( I hate this !! ) & very recently had a seizure after it was tapered down. She was totally aware & responding fine . I really need to know if it was caused by it. If anyone can answer ,I'll deeply appreciate it ! It started w her hand .🙏💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Doctor, Ive heard that in other countries they have Dexamethasone 4mg with B12 vitamin 100mg. Its a shot that goes into the gluteus. Is there something like that in the USA?
1 injection 5 1/2 years ago destroyed a healthy person WITH POISON IVY LIKE SYMTOMS they could have done something but instead shuve me off with an injection the nurse was worried about.. Cushing's induced and adrenal-induced shutdown and never fully recovering. Left out to suffer and eventually die. Can't do any of the things i used to and i miss it with induced fear PTSD the worse induced fear one would never wish on their worse enemy. hoping for a recovery but running out.
Cushings-induced Syndrome is horrible? still trying to recover after 5 1/2 years but not fully understood by my doctor and don't want to see an endocrinologist fearing more fear put into me induced by the Drug.
Dexamethasone 1 injection you can't wean off? Destroyed wreaked havoc on my life and wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy. the trauma I went through is all most unexplainable as my doctors don't have a clue what to do and when i will ever recover. Boston mass person who tries to help people understand what steroids can do to you said Dexamethasone-induced adrenal shutdown is murder. You just feel like you dying and suffering and know damage has been done to you. Can't concentrate and memory. psychoses of the worse kind. 5 1/2 years and giving up on recovery.
I have been on dexamethasone for 6 months now,cos I wanna to gain weight, and I have stop cos am experiencing side effects,is just 2 weeks. Now I have stop taking it, please how many months all the dexamethasone will leave my body??
leaving your body won't change a thing in how you feel. still trying to recover 5 years after injection of dexamethasone. Waking hell and mood feel living is useless. Cortisol not rising or lowering while waking or sleeping is hell.
This video is a medical understanding of what dexamethasone can do to a person and not your problem with languages. Sick ill People hear don't need your Bragging.
@@trafficjon400 If people are inaccurate in their grammar or syntax, I shall not trust their science either. I mean if you don't care about your use of language how can I be sure that you are careful with scientific data? This poor use of English does not stop!. You write "sick ill People" (and why is P in large case??) All "ill" people are by defintion "sick" so why write "sick ill people"?? . The words are "often" not "oftentimes" and "sick" or "ill" and not "sick ill". It is depressing that people not only are losing their grasp of grammar and lexis but get upset when people point that out. If doctors who are native speakers of English cant speak English properly, I dont trust them very much as doctors either, that's the bottom line.
Dear oh dear, "we" are sensitive! And who are these "we" you claim to speak for anyway? And who gives you the right to decide what "we" have come for? Incidentally, writing on the net in only large case letters is a fairly good indication that an ignoramus is at work.@@carriesmith9943
It is not my fault if neither you nor other people have a good grasp of the English language. Being sick doesn't give you a right to special consideration. @@trafficjon400
