Thank you for helping to gentrify my town so much that I had to move to another state because I could no longer afford to pay my property taxes with the low wages.
It has changed so much. Over the last 40 years I’ve seen it all! The wages are starting to catch up, but it’s still difficult for many. Where did you move to?
I grew up in Helena from 7th grade through 10th grade: 1966 - 1970. I have such wonderfully fond memories of Helena and Montana in general. We moved to GA in 1970 and I’ve only been back once with my wife and kids in 2002. What a great city. Thank you for this video.
Oh how awesome is that! I bet it was beautiful back then, too. It really is such a cool town. You know how to reach me if you do come back! :) Thank you for watching.
I live in the San Diego area, I'm used to high real estate prices, but these prices were shocking to me. The area looks amazing. I think prices will come down as everyone is slowly told to be back in the office.
It is shocking to us, too! Thank you for watching, and I do think things are calmer at the moment, but we’re still quite low on inventory so that makes it tough. The demand hasn’t really gone down so far at least!
I'd like to move to Helena. After living in Missoula, I think the problem I've realized about that place is that it's a place for people who want to come to Montana where they don't have to feel like they moved to Montana--I imagine that living in Bozeman is probably largely the same way, although maybe slightly less hippy and more bougie. When I've visited Helena, it always seemed like a ridiculously relaxed place, with the maximum level of Montana natural beauty, minus some of the nonsense. If I wanted to be in Denver, I would move to Denver.
Helena is beautiful! I totally get what you mean. It's got a smaller town vibe and a bit of a slower pace for sure. Get in touch if you'd like to chat, I'm happy to help!
I used to live in Helena but moved in 2010 back to my home state. I’ve been wanting to go back and I’m currently looking just skeptical on the home price and special needs education/support.
Thank you for watching! Where are you living now? I know Helena has better prices right now than other parts of western Montana, though I can't speak specifically on the education piece.
Hi! Helena is beautiful - and what I’m more familiar with, really. Northwest Montana is stunning as well! I know they’ve seen quite the growth as well, so it would be good to really see what’s available for the same prices and so on. I’m not familiar enough to really make a direct comparison for you, but I’d be happy to connect you with someone up there if you’d like! Where are you living now?
@@dannelson4209 happy to! Let’s chat a bit more about it - you can email me info@livinginswmontana.com, or call/text 406.219.0309. I’ll get you connected!
@@lifeinbozemanmt I appreciate that Mam! Helena is on top of my list, but anywhere in Montana will do it for me, such a beautiful state. Bozeman, Billings, Kalispell, and anywhere near the Flathead Lake area as well, especially Bigfork!! 😎
In comparison to some other communities in Montana, Helena is much more affordable actually. That said it’s certainly not more affordable than other areas in the country. Thanks for watching!
It really is tough to hear of so many who can’t stay, given the housing prices and rental costs. But there seems to be change on the horizon. Not a huge shift by any means. But Bozeman’s rental vacancy rate has hit 7% for the first time in many months (more like a few years) so rents are starting to ease up! I haven’t looked at Helena’s numbers but I’d imagine it’s going to improve as well.
Hi there! There are section 8 options in many towns in Montana, certainly. They aren’t necessarily developments for that, but there are systems in place. Thanks for watching!
@@gregorystinette8271 We welcome everyone in our state! However Montanans are not too keen on outsiders coming here only to rely on government handouts and welfare further straining our already high cost of living and even high taxes!!! If you’re interested in moving here for the beautiful scenery and also want to be a benefit to our economy by starting your own small businesses here, we are very welcoming! If not, at least get a damn job rather than shopping for section 8 housing which takes even more money out of our pockets!! And regarding your “diversity” comment, we don’t have “too many white people” we have plenty “diversity”!! We do have plenty of welfare-cases sitting on their arses and certainly don’t need anyone to “diversify” Montana and attempt to replace the native Montanans or bring woke California politics with them! This is Montana not San Francisco!
@@YonatanBornstein I’m happy to help however I can, I just know that it’s tough to find things in that price range and I try to respond to everyone whenever I can!
