@June never did I ever think while playing breath of the wild that the blights were champions mutated. Especially since they say “that’s the monster that defeated me 100 years ago!”
Urbosa really is a good character. Said toward the end, she can be good for new players, but if someone invests into learning her deeper mechanics, you really unlock the terrifying power she holds.
I already loved her during BotW and was super happy they did her justice in AoC. My most-used character by far. One of the things I'm surprised wasn't mentioned is how both her special attack and weak-point smashes automatically refill her lighting bar. Chaining those extended strong attacks into finishers that give you all of her meter back at the end becomes a pretty critical part of her gameplay loop (especially against bosses where you don't have lots of small enemies to fill up on). I've always considered that kind of momentum management one of the coolest things about playing Urbosa.
Urbosa is probably my favorite character in AoC as she not only has solid attacks for both clearing crowds and fighting boss enemies but that several of her strong attacks remain useful even in late game, while for most other characters their final strong attack often makes all other moves obsolete. She and Link are my go-to fighters for just about any multi-man mission and there really isn't any challenge or matchup that she can't dominate. Urbosa for Smash!!!
I’m loving all of these Shane! To be honest, you didn’t need to reupload the entire video to add these addendums. But it really shows how dedicated you are to these vids. Can’t wait too see what’s next!
Urbosa shines in most battles, where you have groups of mobs, because her repeated lightning attacks in a large range fill her special gauge VERY quickly. It’s not uncommon to go from 0 to a full 3 in one full lightning gauge if you can catch about a dozen enemies in it. She does struggle with battles that put you against just a few boss enemies, as her attacks have fewer targets and her special can’t charge as fast as a result. Plus her final strong attack leaves her vulnerable during the zig-zag slash before the lightning storm starts, making it easy for a boss to knock her out of it if they aren’t in stasis lock
I wish this game had combo interactions between characters. Perhaps if Mipha leaves those healing fountains, Revali could use his gale within it to launch the water into the air to cover a wider area. Or if a named boss is stunned, the magma pillars Daruk summons can launch a named boss into the air and all airborne attacks do double damage to health and their WPG. Or Urbosa can fire a beam of lightning, and in complete defiance of physics, Link can deflect the lightning with his shield and aim the lightning beam himself with increased power.
Thanks for sharing! I was most excited for Urbosa as a playable character - when I finally unlocked her, I was a bit underwhelmed. I think it was perhaps due to the nature of her charge mechanics? I'll definitely need to go back and try her out more with this info!
Some cool urbosa tech: if you hold a elemental rod during the lighting portion of her c6 it’s an almost guaranteed weak point break, , and doesn’t even use the lighting gauge. it makes her even better.
Excluding Link, Urbosa was the first character in Age of Calamity that I managed to get to Max Level. She's also one of my mains along with Swordsman Link, Terrako, Calamity Ganon, and Mipha
@@femiolowofoyeku5852 Yeah, me too-I mainly use the “laser” (zl + y) to finish off weak point gauges or take down a group of enemies in a narrow hallway, etc. lol
I love the work you’re doing on this series. Unfortunately I didn’t learn anything new this video because I’ve played so long I know all this and more. My play style with her favors strong attack seals over attack speed and with that build I beat harbinger Ganon in 50 seconds.
If you favor strong attack seals, you can parry to reveal the weak point gauge (or use a rod), stasis, then use her strong attack 1 and unique action quick charge over and over to dip large chunks off the gauge with each hit. That’s possibly the fastest way of bringing bosses down with her. It’s a quick and sure weak point smash.

Urbosa and Impa are my favorite characters and yes BoTW is right her attacks are like a dance (it's stated when you get the scimitar of the seven and the daybreaker)
In what situation would I use her strong vs normal dash attack? I'M LOST WITHOUT THIS INFO. Jk, just noticed you left it out this time, which is fair enough. Its in every other vid.
Many of Urbosa's attacks seem to apply a shock effect to weak enemies. I wonder if this makes her one of the few characters capable of consistently utilizing a status effect damage seal, even if only for clearing mooks faster.
6:50 you don't need to do that In my Opinion. In fact, the "Burst" damage that Urbosa does AFTER her attacks shreds a LOT of WPG. I just press her Lightning 2-3 Times and end it which allows the burst damage to destroy the rest of the WPG in less than a second
Hey Shane, do you think you could do a video explaining the weapon system in detail (eg: highest damage for a weapon, how the game calculates weapon skills, etc.)? Or maybe a community post explaining it or a link to where I can find more details on it? Because I don’t quite understand how the bonus damage works. Would three of one shape and three of another sharp give you less bonus damage than 4 and 2, or would they be the same? I just want a better understanding of how these things are calculated.
3 of one shape and 3 of another gives I think only +10. 4 of one shape and 2 of another gives the highest boost at +20. There is a spreadsheet that the HW discord made with a bunch of useful info about weapon stat values but RU-vid will not let me link to it.
I find it kinda odd how you didn’t mention the (almost)infinite flight exploit considering how it’s probably one of the easiest ways to get weak point smashes
All I could tell about Urbosa playstyle compare to the other Warriors is that, she is more of a focus what is in front of her to deal huge damage. Compare that of her daughter which has more of a crowd control playstyle.
Sidon or Mipha next? Tell us how my main (Mipha) is sadly only mid tier (she *really* lacks damage output outside midair attack damage seals... and damage is king in most games, this included.)? Or about Sidon's potential? Either way, would be nice to see best siblings get some coverage.
@@SuspiciousTemmie not sure he mentioned it for Impa, I could be wrong. Impa's triggers when you have clones and go into a flurry rush. The clones will deal extra damage to the WPG while you're still in the dodge animation before attacking.
I’ll be shocked if he says something that makes Mipha actually good to play except her healing. Her unique action is too slow and leaves her too open and her WPG attacks from the air don’t do enough damage to be worth using.
In my opinion the Champions are below average characters compared to the rest of the cast and Urbosa was part of that group until the DLC gave her her new heavy attack that instantly breaks a boss weak point
Huge fan of your Age of Calamity Videos and Guides but this one has Major Spoiler alerts. I haven't finished the game yet and about to do Chapter 7 and just wanted to input that you should either edit out endgame stuff or give SPOILER warning. I was trying mentally block out what i saw looked like the final battle. The other character guides seemed much better and just revealed the Malice versions more, but this one upset me a little bit. Regardless still love how you slow down the gameplay to keep it simple, keep it up.
The weapon he had for the build segment was wrong so it was showing the Tier 1 weapon rather than the now current Tier 3 weapon which has other hidden skills
i dont like your guides you only scratch the surface, you never describe what to do in what situations, which combos to spam, which to ignore, its really superficial and clickbait in the end, only really informative bit is the weapon builds which are pasted from the community sheet... i would learn more from just 3 minutes of commented gameplay saying which combo to link into which others than this whole videos. PS i watched almost all of your vids for every char and i have the same complaint for every one of them. you just describe the combos, who cares just say what to spam vs crowds, vs boss and vs multi bosses
