Watch part 2 of the all-aluminum 427 Cobra build as we put together this iconic car piece by piece. Don't miss this detailed look at the construction process!
Matthew makes loads of progress fabricating panels for the all aluminium Cobra body and I try my hand at narrating :) enjoy!

Amazing work from both of you! It's videos like yours that make me miss being a fabricator. Nowadays I still build stuff but my medium has changed from metals to code. One of the biggest things I miss about welding/fabricating is being able to hold or touch the finished product and that special sense of accomplishment that comes with building something from raw materials with your bare hands. I'm happy I stumbled across your channel and I've subscribed. Thanks for posting all your videos that I can live vicariously through your work. Cheers fellas.

I used to work for a company named Chautauqua Manufacturing in Sharpsville Pennsylvania where we made fiberglass replica body’s for the Cobra and many Jeep Models.

Great job will you be building the chassis and showing how the body gets mounted ?

Thank you. Unfortunately in this series we are only focusing on the body fabrication. We'll make a series in future about chassis and mounting.

Hi Danni could you still make this on your smaller english wheel? Does it make a big difference in saving time etc. I bought a wheel but havent un packaged or assembled it yet but i know it is not as large as this one matt is working off of.
@2_stroke_taylor
@2_stroke_taylor 2 месяца назад
It's definitely possible to make it on a smaller wheel! You just might be limited in how big you can make some of your bigger panels.

Hi Danie and Matt, I noticed that you are supporting the AC only in the middle . The nose and the rear end are much heavier and is sagging then . It will affect your door gaps. I have a shell from a famous company in Durban and mine flexes a lot.So make sure that you support the front and the ass end.😂🇿🇦🇦🇺🇺🇦🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺

Interesting that you should mention it but we also realised it will need to be braced before before final assembly.

@@BroughBuilt ,I am fabricating the chassis from 100x50x5 rectangular tubing .It is a bit of over engineering but at least it won’t flex too much. I am using an E36 complete front end and for the rear I use the E39 rear end.The complete cradle,diff and control arms. Much easier but next time the chassis will be aluminium with the same components.

Welcome to Australia Danie. I spent my day on a farm 3 hours from Sydney run by 2 really nice Saffers from the Free State. They came here and kindly brought their farming knowledge with them 15 years ago and sound almost like me now (except when they break into Afrikaans). Good people. Love watching the process of shaping metal mate. Keep it coming.

@@BroughBuilt Kit Car Centre in Boxburg! A buddy of mine built a Cobra, using their kit in 1987. He used a Ford Essex V6 as a temporary motor, while waiting to get a V8, but it was still incredibly quick. Tony Martin's Backdraft Cobras differ quite a lot from the original design & are more suited for racing.

I only started noticing the differences with closer inspection, but yes they are actually quite different. We are however going to change the design on our build a bit to make it more unique

It looks so easy but damn it is a lot of elbow grease.The AC Cobra is a nice design but what a about a VW Karman Ghia ?🇿🇦🇦🇺🇺🇦🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺

My brother would agree with you that it should be a Karman Ghia being built instead of the Cobra👍👍
