Ryan Rick I agree! I squealed a bit when he went “Hello I’m Cloud.” and that “Not interested.” 😍 As much as I have great respect for Steve Burton, Cody from a first listen just knocks or out of the park. He’s great as Cloud!
I know people are attached to his previous voice because it came first, but that voice did not match at all. He sounded way too old and masculine for a effeminate looking pretty boy in his early 20s. This guy is a perfect fit.
“No. Not interested” Yeah, I’m pretty sure he gets the character. I’m excited to hear how that intonation changes during the Temple of the Ancients. Also, I really wonder what his non gamer fans think of him in this game. I mean, surely he has a legion of fans. He’s adorable.
he’s honestly the perfect pick for cloud. I also love the fact that he doesn’t have to change his voice at all, it’s like i’m hearing cloud himself doing this interview
@@Killer_Kris7 came here after playing crisis core reunion, I think he did really good in that so I don’t think we got to worry too much. He also wasn’t used enough in remake for us to get a full judgement of his character overall
@@Killer_Kris7 I like newberns, and I didn’t like new sephiroths VA at first, but it’s honestly not that bad. I think people over exaggerate when they say it’s terrible
Cody is an absolute vocal stud as Cloud he crushed it... Respect bruh... also... Tifa: Oh my god, that makeup! And that dress! Nailed it, I know. Thank you. Moving on.
Gotta love the fact this guy was a whopping 2 years old when the original game came out. He's younger than I thought from playing the remake, but he does an amazing job voicing Cloud. Here's hoping they retain him and everyone else when the next parts drop in the years to follow.
They’re definitely going to retain everyone. They’ve all been well received and they all pretty much nailed their parts. I think Britt Baron is the best Tifa we’ve ever had
Agreed. I've followed the FFVII universe from the beginning, and this English voice cast absolutely nailed their characters better than anyone else did, especially with Tifa and Barret in my opinion.
Steve Burton was a great Cloud. Cody fits Cloud even better in my opinion. It's all really down to his tone reflecting Cloud's trying to ACT COOL when he's really a country bumpkin with a heart of gold.
I'm glad the new voice actor of Cloud sounds very similar to the old voice [Steve Burton]. It makes the transition between voices much easier for the fans.
Yeah the whole cast for the Remake is amazing, especially after playin the Demo that just came out. My only grip is Sephiroth....Im sorry but Tyler the actor who voices the new Sephiroth, got NOTHING on George Newborn the original voice but oh well everyone else is amazing.
@@imouto4hire nah he's a REALLY good replacement, dont let your nostalgia "cloud" your judgment New guy fits the younger sassier cloud while burton has mastered the more cold serious mature one
Great interview especially since the news anchor to the left of Cody has some history with Final Fantasy himself and seemed very engaged during the whole convo with Cody.
he's really.... eloquent in expressing his thoughts. this is my first time seeing cloud's remake va in eng in real life. coming from someone who usually plays in the OG japanese language (and from someone with so much respect for cloud's OG japanese veteran voice actor takahiro sakurai), props to cody for nailing his character so well!! honestly, all the eng vas in the remake were superb!! cloud is a hard character to understand but cody did cloud justice. he brought so much more to his character. i hope he comes back for more cloud content lol and maybe i should go watch pretty little liars now haha
Nice to see a news station interview the actor who voices the protagonist in the remake of one of the greatest, most beloved video games of all time! 11 million or more copies sold of the original - it's the best selling game in the entire series. It's exciting to see a news station focus on something so beloved!
His voice is perfect for cloud. I never knew who was the voice actor till now but I was not disappointed by any of the voice actors selected for the remake. Coming from the first console it came out in the remake was definitely taken to heart and I’m so happy with the way it turned out.
the dude interviewing him sounded so excited its kinda adorable lmao i love Cody Christian tho i watched him on teen wolf never expected to see him play as cloud loool
I'll be honest, I'm kinda sad Burton and everyone else was let go, but the new voice actors are how I imagine these chatacters to speak. It just sounds natural.
Hi literally look like Cloud. Especially his eyebrown and his cystal blue eyes ...Not mention his voice . I like to see him without beard ...so dazzing. Normally I am not kind like a man with western look I prefer asian guys look (Because I'm Thai) but Cody is so irresistable...very charming indeed. After I knew he's the voice of Cloud whenever I see him i still think of Vloud too 😂
I’m so use to hearing him play as clouds voice that the old cloud voice actor just doesn’t sound right with me anymore. Much love for the old cloud voice actor. this guy is doing great.
Lol "cult classic." The FF series is much bigger and more successful than the Zelda series and is in the Guinness Book of World Records. Final Fantasy VII was one of the biggest games in the entire series (that spans 100+ games).
I wouldn't got that far. FFVII is certainly a mainstream game, but I don't think FF has ever surpassed Zelda in per name recognition and popularity. Zelda is a staple of Nintendo, right behind Mario.
@@47d75 Numbers don't lie. As of 2018, the Final Fantasy series has brought in ~$10.6 billion. Legend of Zelda (as of 2018) has brought in ~$3.4 billion. Final Fantasy is objectively more successful.
@@CryofthePlanet Success doesn't amount to popularity. Final Fantasy has always been on numerous Platforms while Zelda is only on one. Also if you put Link on your phone and ask who is this they will mistakenly say Zelda but they know the game. Most people don't know Zidane, Tidus, Squall, or Even Cloud. They might know Noctis or Lightning or even Sora as he's big with Disney.
To be fair, OP did say "bigger and more successful". Not more popular. As for popularity, that can be debated. You made good points. However, the FF series is also arguably more accessible because they're on multiple platforms. I'd argue that Mario is more recognizable than Link but the LoZ series is easily more popular. Recognition doesn't always equal popularity. What LoZ does have over FF though is that LoZ has the same recognizable hero from the 80s where as most FF games don't share their main attributes between titles.
Final Fantasy 7 is the best selling of the FF games, but even 7 has barely made it past 10 million sold units in 22 years. Compared to games that TRULY are mainstream, selling 30,40,50 even 100+ million, it's a cult classic. A lot of the new gen teenage gamers have not heard of final fantasy, let alone final fantasy 7. So he's not wrong in calling it a cult classic. In the bigger picture, JRPG games are still relatively niche.
The english one has its charms and voices that ping and suits them all. The japanese too has its funny moments. They manage to improvise. Usually is the English dub that improvise the dialogues like anime of ghost story
Please, GOD NO! Do NOT make a live-action FF anything. We've seen how horrible live-action video game movies are, and the last thing we need is another one!
beeing the voice for such a iconic character from a remake of one of the most beloved, legendary and revolutionary video games of all times ... talk about pressure 😂😂😂 BUT he is SOOOO GOOD !!!😍♥️
I like his new voice The first cloud I head was Tim but this guy Cody is actually better because is not an emo voice but is actually more masculine and better
Captain Kirk I don’t think you know what the term means. It’s a cult classic because it’s a piece of media that was so critically acclaimed that it has acquired a cult following and huge fan base
monojuice I don’t quite think *you* know what it means....a cult classic usually refers to media that although wasn’t necessarily critically panned, it did not perform as expected when it came to sales/revenue but still remained popular years later....the original FF7 was a worldwide hit and sold over 9 million copies....far from a cult classic. It was a classic from the very beginning.
@@Saisei87 I dunno... it doesn't have to be unpopular to be a cult classic. Altho I do agree that a cult following means it's not followed by the mainstream audience, but a smaller group of extremely passionate fans. I think FF7 can meet this criteria in the west to most people. Because it is a jrpg... and despite it selling a lot of copies, it doesn't compete with how much USA based games are sold in the west (its not even in the top 50). Maybe the remake might change this.
@@PollenAinne Actually, it does, that's what the term literally refers to. Something obscure or unpopular with the general populace that none the less gained a mass, cult like following in the years following its release. Like the Firefly TV show, for example. Or the Clock Tower games. So FF7 would not fit the term cult classic, as it was popular from the get go. Worldwide phenomenon, or just plain classic, timeless, landmark video game, so on and so forth, are all much more apt terms to use.
Wrong. Cult classic means that it's super popular within a niche' group of people (like me), absolute die hard fans. Something that's "mainstream" isn't a cult classic. Super Mario Bros is NOT a cult classic, as that's pretty mainstream. I'd argue Star Wars also isn't a cult classic, cause, even those who don't like sci-fi, they know what it is (but I'm not fully concrete on this opinion, it's arguable). FF7? Cult classic. Army of Darkness - cult classic. LoTR - not a cult classic. AVENGERS END GAME - not a cult classic. Do you not see the difference?
It's kinda strange how they had Cody go into the details of what it's like to voice act and whether or not it's his natural voice, but then when they cut to the gameplay, it's mostly Sephiroth doing the talking in the scene they show. You'd think they'd show an extensive clip of Cloud's dialogue that shows off Cody's voice work.
He did such a great job voice acting Cloud; I don’t mind the fact they changed actors for him at all, while I absolutely loved Steve Burton’s work in Advent Children, etc. ♥️ Can’t wait for the next installments of the game!
Even his Face could Pass to be “The Living Cloud” waaaahihihi just make his Hair a lil bit More “Spiky!!” Handsome Man portraying the husky Voice of the same Handsome Character!🆒😆😍7️⃣ (just like Steve Burton before💪🏻🥰👍🏻)
I loved his voice as Cloud!! Like several comments said: pretty much all VAs did a great job. But He is just PERFECT. Plus, I never thought I'd say that...but I prefer the english voices over the japanese.
I fell in love with Cody on teenwolf days. He got me pregnant when I found out he became the new voice actor of Cloud Strife. I love this dude.... Wait I am a man......... 😍😍😍💖💖💖
I don't know why, but his voice hypnotized me. I can just pass all day listininf his voice (One reason because that its because he his Cloud voice actor. But dude... his voice it's amazing to me.) It's just me?
Aww I was in love with pretty Little liars and he was Aria's little brother this is crazy. And teen wolf lol. Final Fantasy 7 is my favorite game ever and now all im going to hear in his voice is Cloud 👀😆💖💛 the honor to play that character. The game is absolutely incredible and magical 😊🌟
