It's finally here! A video I have been working since November of 2023! This is my personal opinion on the chase themes of each killer. Not the terror radious, but I do talk about them whenever they fit! It also contains some fun facts and stuff you might not have known, just to make this video a bit different and unique compared to my other tier lists / rankings! Also, I cringed a lot while editing this stuff 😬 It all started with the washing machine and buzzing bee thing, and then I said "Why not do an intro for all chase themes" and thus I had to search for intros for each one, which took more time than actually making the script 😅
can you please do a video ranking the killer’s lobby music?😁 Some killers have banger lobby themes like the oni and i’d love to see your opinion on them😎
Knight's chase is so underrated. But imo, the ptb Pyramid Head is best of them all by far, especially because it fits his character and Silent Hill perfectly
I love PH's current theme, but I must admit the PTB version is so much more unique and interesting. The current one rocks hard, but the other was more surreal and creepy.
Clown's music is not only in character if you consider he was supposed to be a soldier type killer, it's also in character because the song everyone in the world most associates with circus was meant to, originally, be a march.
I always found it funny how the composer of that song wanted to make a serious song but it's legacy is now associated with people dressing in silly costumes doing silly things.
i kinda view it as both the sound of flies and the sound of static. since shes physically just a rotting corpse, and the tv is how she manifests beyond the grave, it kinda applies to both. makes me like it more
Deathslinger’s close terror radius is by far my favorite because the guitar chord that plays that emits old western vibes, it really makes you feeling the looming presence of a threat.
I always pictured the Legion's chase theme less as a "you're being chased" theme and more as what the Legion members are listening to as they chase you. Makes more sense when you think of it less as the survivors' queue to run and more as some angry teenager's chase mix from their songlist on their phone while they're out murdering.
I think I'm the only person in the entire world who loves Xeno's PTB chase theme. I think it's because I actually LIKE the concept of headache-inducing rackety chase themes. It makes the killers scarier because interacting with them subjects you to painful music. You WANT to avoid chases now, exactly what a survivor would want to do.
I don't think that every chase theme has to be "good" if it fits the character and xeno's ptb chase theme felt like you were getting pursued by an apex predator
Also kinda fits the Alien Isolation version of Xenomorph because this damn thing gave me a headache trying to figure out what it considers a decent enough hiding spot in which I'm actually safe.
The perfect example of this would be the Puppet Combo games, especially the Nun Massacre. Not only does the Nun's chase theme fit her well, but it's also so loud, disturbing and merciless that you want to avoid alerting her at all costs.
The thing I love about Legion's is that you can hear each layer of the terror radius clearly in the full chase. Also my favorite add-on combo is Julie and Suzie's mixtape
My personal favourite is Frank + Fuming, because it’s the heaviest variation of all of them, and the drums hit insanely hard. Frank + Joey is a close second though.
Fun fact 29:10, despite Pyramid Head’s chase theme in the PTB potentially having the longest chase these at around 40 seconds, his Live isn’t too far behind at 32, because if you pay close attention (focusing on the guitar makes it easier to tell), his chase theme is just metallic sounds added over Layer 3’s guitar which is also 32 seconds (and also the same length as 2 & 1) I only know this bc both his Live & his PTB are my favorite chase themes in the game 💀
The thing about pyramid head's PTB chase music is that it sounds like something from the first silent hill, while the live version is something out of silent hill 2, which is why i think akira yamaoka approved the change. Anyways, amazing video keep it up!!! ❤❤
I honestly prefer Oni’s second composition. The one with more drums. Also, Knight’s chase theme definitely my favorite. The bells and heavy drums are a perfect symphony of “The final boss is rapidly approaching your location”.
The noises fit the character but the noises are unpleasant to listen to. It's not because it fits, it's because of the sounds required to make it fit. I personally like it, but I understand why some don't
Another thing about Tricksters theme, that makes it so terrifying is the fact that the „Sirens“ might actually be screams. In The Lore Trickster would kidnap and torture people, record they’re screams and then hide those screams in his music. This might very well be one of those pieces of music where the screams are added in, just that they’re not hidden anymore.
Nemesis' theme is the best objectively. It gives off the vibe that this monster won't stop for anything to achieve his goal which is to hunt you. And that's exactly what Nemesis does.
I personally believe that, much like Legion, Trickster would have made sense to have different chase themes based on add-ons, considering his add-ons are named after specific people's screams.
Yess slinger has my favorite music ever! I’m so glad to see someone else feels the same way. All of the layers are designed so perfect to his character and do amazing at building suspense. Love your videos keep it up! :)
What an amazing video!! What I don't like about music in this game, is when you play killer you miss out a huge chunk of the music because you can only hear chase music, but not your own terrror radius :(
Very valid tier list! I am happy you reached out to me in hopes of help for Knight's chase theme, sadly you are correct in it having so much potential!
The clown theme being "militaristic" doesn't fit with his backstory. It's because the song now famous for being the "clown theme"/"circus theme" was originally made as a military march.
I absolutely adored this video. Music is VERY important to me, and I actually wound up agreeing with Mint over quite a lot. I always did find the Dr’s theme grating. Definitely belongs in the bottom lot, but most of the rest is amazing. But Artist mid-range terror radius just might be my #1. It feels like an alarm that something dangerous is approaching [duh]. But that something is a swarm, that will soon cover an overcast sky. I think Sadako’s terror radius uses a variant of the “augmented fourth” [the devils note, used by Black Sabbath a lot, but I’m no musician]. I fell in love with it immediately. Also yes, Ghostface’s mid-range terror radius is amazing, and it’s a shame we rarely hear it. I used a version in my own project. Thank you for the video.
Nah no way you put cenobite above clown. Clowns is so in character and it's an honestly really scary theme, cenobite's is just kinda a looping drone and nothing about it says "otherworldly sadomasochist angel/devil"
Finally someone puts some respect on the default themes! Going from the ambient track 'Unstable' straight into 'Blood Trail' is peak Killer experience, those 2 songs are already amazing but put them back to back and its genuinely some of the best horror music of all time imo
i will never be able to enjoy the default chase music because i play pig, and they couldn’t have picked less fitting music for amanda. for the trapper or whatever, sure it works
i think the ptb Ghostface is great, because imagine you're working on a gen, and then you're suddenly exposed and then you hear the intense chase music combined with the pressure of being exposed makes you scared or stressed.
I actually liked Ghostface's PTB chase music .-. EDIT: I really liked how intesnse it was. Really made you feel like you needed out of that chase. I don't know, it just made getting chased by Ghostface for fun and intense to me. EDIT2: I also enjoyed Xenomorph's PTB chase music for the exact same reason as Ghostface's.
Ghostface's original terror radius music, specifically layer 3, used ghostface's launch ptb "lullaby" while he was in night shroud in the background and I'm still sad that it's gone in the new terror radius theme.
15:37 Artist theme sounds directly from a horror movie, it's very thrilling, and I like it. It's chaotic, but not I the same distorted way as Doctor's one, which I love. Although I like the distorted style from Doctor's theme, every distorted music just makes me uncomfortable, cenobite's is also one. And man, HOW do you manage to get a perfect and fitting video for every theme?
Damn you MintSkull! Now i can't stop hearing screams in Trickster's terror radius! Jokes aside, thanks to this video i can see how creepy Trickster's music actually is, this is crazyyyy Also, i agree that Pyramid Head's PTB music was more of a banger, but i think his current terror radius fits him more Thank you for the amazing video as always ;)
Xeno's PTB was amazing, it was supposed to feel oppressive and repetitive and the Nostromo alarm fit that sense of urgency very well. Killer themes aren't necessary to make you headbang but rather feel scared and distressed. Also maybe the best 3rd layer they ever made.
FINALLY someone aknowledges Artists's 26m terror radius! The sounds it makes just remind me of actual crows so much. Oh, and finally someone actually rates the terror radius as well, and not only the active chase themes.
What’s really cool about knight’s chase is that it uses a pretty unique time signature in that it uses 3/4 instead of the usual 4/4 that almost every other piece of music is including all the other chase themes in game
Worth to mention that the Dredge´s terror radius, more precisely, the third layer, for me its really chilling to the core and easily top 3 terror radius for me
I actually think the Legion's banger chase theme makes sense to me but only when you see it through the right frame of mind. They aren't a horror icon, they never were. They are a group of teen to young adult slasher villains whose identities were only obscured by a mask earlier in the film. We are at the end of a movie flick, and they are trying to finish off the remaining group of survivors as quickly as possible as they are all aware of who has really been doing the crimes in their town. This high energy translates into a full blown sprint to kill them and the music carries that high intensity energy with it. The slasher villains are edgy teenagers so their genre of music would match their rebellious nature. There is a specific genre teens gravitate towards during their rebellious phase and this matches. This of course being some form of rock or metal music.
Went out of my way to look up the Plague's theme bc I couldn't find it here and... she doesnt have one? Despite coming out between Legion and Ghostface, who each get 2+? lol. Great video anyway! Can't wait to run for my life to some bangers when I see DBD on sale, your videos get me pumped to see what everyone does :)
@@defaulthumanskin9484the issue really for me is their newer ptb music often tend to rely on being repetitive and having one loud sound that loops over and over again that often made the piece sound same throughout and often sounded dull and annoying. At least that's how I felt. Older ghost faces themes, old Xenomorph, the old old demogorgon etc. While they're cool a d unique references in same cases, sometimes it just didn't really fit for a chase theme. Honestly the xenomorph one could have worked if they just lowered the sound of the alarm.
Tricksters chase theme is my favorite, call me a psychopath bc I rlly like listening to it, knowing his lore it just makes sense that he composed the song, very terrifying and so cool!!
I was a bit disappointed that you didn't talk about the layers of the Executioner's theme. I think the bell (?) sounds building up as he comes closer are amazing!
I find The Artist one sounds pretty similar to the music played in The Wizard of Oz when the Wicked Witch sends her flying monkey to attack Dorothy. Which might be a tribute to it since both attack with flying creatures, that might explain the fairy tale vibes it gives
I’m a PTB Ghostface chase theme apologist 😭 It’s grating over time, but like. I think a lot of them are?? It just fits him so much better than his live theme!! I like the way the layers of his terror radius just fall to pieces and become chaos. I think it was too loud on the PTB, and just needed to be mixed a little differently.
Loved the vid! Some disagreements of opinion, but my big thing is you saying "Onryo or Sadako" when I'm pretty sure you meant one of these to be Spirit. 30:07 Thank you for the video!
@@SmihoTvor_lite As true as that may be, that's still not her name. The original plan for my name was changed. Nobody calls me what it was going to be. Whether she's an Onryo or not, her name is neither The Onryo nor Sadako.
Ghostface chase fits perfectly with the pacing of his running. I think it is amazing considering that it makes you feel like you're desperately running from someone who's the same speed as you.
A note I’d like to add on tricksters theme is that on first listen it gave me immediate chills! And I couldn’t help but compare the fact that his theme sounds a lot like the insidious theme which is one of the most terrifying soundtracks from any modern horror movie
"You're not being chased by something paranormal... you're being chased by an old man with a gun." A Texan who firmly believes in Castle Doctrine, at that-- and that is *_far_* more terrifying.
I liked Ghostface's PTB Chase Music from the survivors perspective because it would pop up out of nowhere and it just screams "Holy shit I have to go". It was on live servers for a bit but was slightly altered and I actually really enjoyed it. The terror radius built up to it perfectly. However, I understand that on Killer side you only heard one part of it and it did get insanely repitetive.
Honestly, the fact that the default themes alternate is enough to make them my favourites. Whereas I really like how specific themes suit the character they belong to, I'd personally prefer a variety of themes as opposed to just one over and over, no matter how good it is.
I absolutely love the little clips you used at the beginning for every theme. Hilarious stuff man 🖤My least favourite theme gotta be skully's ptb theme. It deadass gave me headaches but for my fav I think it's actually Legion's simply because of the fact that your add-on changes the theme a bit. It's incredibly unique. Sound design wise I love sadako and the artist the most. With sadako having the ocean sounds and the artist having this eeriness, which perfectly to her look. Good video overall even though my list would look quite different but music is one of the most subjective things ever so I respect your list!
Also Nemesis' terror radius layers are AWESOME with the subway screeching on rails sound in the background, like you feel like you're in Raccoon City yourself
I love that more dbd youtubers are appreciating more the dbd music, every music is a masterpiece in its way. And one of the best game soundtracks i've ever heard in my life! Edit: you should make another ranking about menu themes! I would love to see it.
