I thought that I would switch it up on this day and head over to Port Hope's VIA Station to catch some trains. Even though the CPKC tracks are only a stone's throw away, the brush has gotten taller over the years, to the point of all but blocking one's view. I had resigned myself to missing any CPKC action on this day; but, lucky for me, I only missed a single container train.
My first catch of the morning was CN M377, a westbound mixed manifest heading to Toronto out of Montreal. It was a great start to the day, with all-EMD power in this triple lashup. What was also interesting was a load near the back of the consist. Flatcars of special tanks, all carrying sodium cyanide, an extremely poisonous chemical, were likely destined for a mining operation somewhere, as the chemical is used to separate gold ore in the mining process. Yikes though!
