As a Cambodian, The Democratic IndonChinese Ending is probably the most realistic ending of Cambodia. After 1979, We and Laos are still under Vietnamese influence include politics. Until recently with the Rise of China(Belt&Road), Cambodia has shift itself to Chinese more and more.

Still, Vietnam allowed it to happen because Vietnam greatly benefits from the BRI more than either country. The US is currently supporting Vietnam against China at any cost. The Indochinese federation is likely here to stay and possibly expand in the future. As a result, China must placate Vietnam if they don't want the country siding with the US against them.
