I did build 6+1(hip) slimevr trackers for a couple days and now use it with quest 2 and should say, its perfect for a airlink users. But sometimes is annoying to putting on 7 trackers on yourself...

lol I like how everyone forgot about Playstationmoveservice that when setup and calibrated properly can give you one to one 5 point tracking for like 200 bucks. like with 5 or 6 cameras it gives tracking that is honestly just as good as vive trackers the only downside being that magnets in your room can mess with their orientation. and I guess it requires a pretty beefy processor too, like with 5 cameras at 60 fps it would be too much for anything but an i7, i9, or ryzen 9. BUT if you happen to have a good processor then its a really good fbt option that is better than slimevr for around the same price. AND its scalable, want more accurate tracking and less deadzones, just add another camera, they are like 15 bucks on ebay. Want more trackers, just buy another psmove controller (make sure its the ps3 one tho the ps4 ones suck) they are like 20 bucks at most on ebay.
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Okay You're right, this solution can provide pretty good tracking accuracy, but there's one issue... it's not "setup ready to go" not a "plug and play solution" that's why I wouldn't mention it in this video.
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
One more thing, I'm not sure about the price but if You said 200$, hmmm... You'll have to pay 300$ more for Vive trackers with base stations 1.0. Is 300$ worth whole this time You'll have to spend to built this homemade solution? Time spent on solving problems etc? Ofc... it could be fun, for me at least, but for most of people not rly, what's why it's only solution for let's call them "enthusiasts"

If you think you can get vive trackers and two base stations go vive, they are rn number 1, for now, soon the new full body systems might take over, but that can be a while especially with the vive trackers updating, personally if I had a good pc, can afford vive trackers and x2 base stations I would do it. That's just me though that my opinion, go with the 1 that feels right for you.

Your video was quite useful to me, although it came quite late, but I would be interested to know: if I can use the 2.0 (2018) and 3.0 trackers at the same time?
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Yes, You can use it at the same time, with Tundra Trackers too ;)
@BosonCollider
@BosonCollider Год назад
I'm picking slimevr purely because one of my main uses of the quest is to literally use it in bed with lights in the room turned off. Inertial trackers with long battery life that I can use under a cover are perfect for me. I just want a properly immersive virtual bedroom with a mirror to check myself out and wall-sized screens running my PCs virtual monitors and a view of Saturn above.
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Slime is good choice, but Yiu have to build it by Yourself or ask someone, because they again delayed delivery
@BosonCollider
@BosonCollider Год назад
@@RichardVirgosky Yeah, but no other inertial trackers are available in Europe until after the delivery of the SlimeVR ones. And the saved money & lack of occlusion or need for a base station is worth the wait for me personally. I could buy a PS5 for the cost of a few vive trackers.

@@RichardVirgosky fucking Russia man. SlimeVR production was delayed due to the war and having to escape the conflict. On top of chip shortages.

how much of an improvement would the extra chest tracker be? im gonna get 3 base stations but i wonder if its worth it to spend that extra money or if im gonna have problems tracking the extra tracker
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Imo it's better to buy next base station than chest tracker
@CALiiGeddonTwo
@CALiiGeddonTwo Год назад
I have Tundra and Vive 3.0 trackers but I am currently looking into SlimeVR to just get rid of base stations by using a Quest 2 with Pro Controllers once those release. I have a question about SlimeVR though, through firmware updates and such do you believe that SlimeVR has improved their tracking and could improve their tracking even further in the future? I have my router in my room that I plan on connecting to so Wi-Fi strength will not be an issue.
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Your WiFi connection doesn't really matter that much with slime, only for data transfer and it has nothing to do with tracking precision, You just need to answer one question, are You ready for less accuracy? If yes, go for slime, but Imo would be better to stay with lighthouse tracking if You already have it

@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
The most important thing, face the base station, try to have one in the front of You and one behind. Also hips tracker on Your back, not like most of ppl on the front
@ButterscotchV
@ButterscotchV Год назад
Where did you get the price for SlimeVR? The most I get with shipping and tax for that enhanced core set is around $260, which is $100 less than the $360 you show in the video
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
For example price for Sweden is 235$ + 18$ shipping + 63.25$ tax = 316.25$, to Hungary it'll be over 320$, most European countries in general +300$. I said in the video that price for SlimeVR is over $300. Maybe I shouldn't show there 360$ as "global price", You're right, but I clearly said that it's above 300$.
@ButterscotchV
@ButterscotchV Год назад
@@RichardVirgosky Ah, how is Vive and Tundra's pricing so low in comparison? Are they somehow getting around taxes?
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Hmm idk, that's just current prices that I saw on the Internet, I bought VIVE for that price three months ago and official price for tundra is almost the same, but for example on unboundxr 3x tundra trackers cost 440$, so that's why I said that sometimes tundra are a bit more expensive.

Have you used SlimeVRs with your setup mixing the two types of tracking solutions?

@chriskim9289
@chriskim9289 Год назад
is it difficult to mix and match quest with vive/tundra trackers. and again with vive controllers?
@RichardVirgosky
@RichardVirgosky Год назад
Not very difficult, especially if You use virtual desktop, because with air link You have to calibrate Your trackers each time
@chriskim9289
@chriskim9289 Год назад
@@RichardVirgosky with virtual desktop you dont need to calibrate each time? can you also go wireless on virtual desktop

@heartbroken3344
@heartbroken3344 8 месяцев назад
I’m using similar setup with 4 vive trackers and just want to warn you that Pico isn’t the best headset for mixed vr systems, it’s internal tracking system drifts more than that on quest, which makes your LH devices offset by a huge amount no matter how good you calibrate it, hell even continuous calibration tracker doesn’t help much, it’s usable but far from perfect

From a boomer perspective, SlimeVR definitely seems like the worse option for people that hate tinkering with vr already. I absolutely hate spending more time than I have to on setup lol
@A-ID-A-M
@A-ID-A-M Год назад
But it's cheaper. As a zoomer who tinkers and messes with stuff on computers anyways, as long as I BUY THEM and don't build my own, it's fine hahah. I can build and mess w electronics (i have modified Game Boys) but because of the lack of availability of the chips and the prices, its not worth the possibility of breaking.
