gilbert is so overhated and underrated. He's an amazing depiction of PTSD among veterans and his character is amazing. Not only that but I think that his voice acting is possibly the best in the game
He’s the Endeavor of 3H. A character with incredibly good writing who’s surrounded by fans who refuse to try and understand him due to him not being conventionally attractive.
@@CrazyPills-465 I wouldn’t say all that applies to endeavor considering he has a lot of people who find him attractive. Also people refuse to try and understand him because he’s an abuser, it’s a valid reason to not care about his character. Gilbert is not in anyway as bad of a person as endeavor.
I know you're all probably here for his and Annette's conversations, although however a short conversation, I really enjoyed his and Dedue's conversation, it didn't really strike me that they have the same job description until now as retainers.
I'd pay good money to see Felix lay into Gilbert. Chivalrous pity-case, crap dad. I'd be curious to see how much Felix projects Rodrigue's failings onto Gilbert or if he actually defend his father by pointing out that at least he was stuck around.
@@MrTherandomguy42 when I played Black Eagles and Recruited every student, I made her fight Gilbert and learned the Hard way seeing her kill her own father.
The Dedue support is really interesting... it's almost like two wildly different versions of people who say they are wholly dedicated to a cause. Gilbert claims that he is, but is obviously content to stay stuck wallowing in self-pity than actually being the devoted knight that he could be. Rather than putting others before himself, he uses his excuses to justify his lack of moving forward. He's a coward. Dedue on the other hand is the other extreme. He is so loyal that he forces aside his own wants and needs to dedicate himself to his cause, to the point of being self-sacrificial. He's the ideal guy to call out Gilbert, because he reveals that Gilbert is pretending to be more like the type of person Dedue is, when in reality he is anything but.
That's thing, Gilbert used to be the person that dedue is. It's not like he never was. Also dedue self-sacrificial nature has been called out by even by his highness as he doesn't value life
He's not, but in the Blue Lions route he can still have support conversations with other characters pre-timeskip. The main way you would be able to do this during the school phase is by having him share meals at the dining hall with the characters he has supports with (like Annette).
While I personally despise Gilbert as a character, I’ve gotta admit that I do dig his supports with Dimitri, Dedue and Annette due to how much they add to their respective character.

Honestly that's why I'm happy with Alois and Gilbert's S supports with Byleth, platonic/familial S supports with the older characters is something the newer games should keep doing, it's wholesome and also gives some good love to the older characters in a way that isn't just forcing them into the MC's harem.
@@wordsoflove8787 tho, it's was confusing, after many fe games, S supports normally meant a romantic option and a+ was for friends. So it was like a bait somewhat
I honestly hate Gilbert, especially since I played Golden Deer first and recruited Annette. His supports with Annette are sweet and all but you only get them in Blue Lions. In other routes where you recruit her, he keeps running away from his daughter who wants to rekindle their relationship. I just despise him for his actions that hurt Annette.
