i was on the edge of my seat the whole time.. tourney poker is such both a grind at times, and a whirlwind of up, then down, then way way up, then down down, then UP, then..............................out.... sometimes... loved every hand, looked like overall, your played solid tourney poker, vs a field of moderate level skills, which can make play a lot more unpredictable.. Cant wait for the next one..!!!

One additional comment about the AK hand you busted out on: Many players suffer from "Short Stack Syndrome" - as you did in this hand. That's when a tournament player begins to convince themselves they must become extremely aggressive and risk their stacks in less than optimal situations because they're surrounded by deep stacks and are down to 15 or 20 players. Short Stack Syndrome is pure panic, and it is NEVER the proper play. With 25 BBs you can easily reach the money and even win the tournament. You have plenty of chips & time (orbits) to wait for better spots. Extra aggression is the right play when you're deep (55 bbs or more) - it is not the right play when you have a shorter stack. 25 BBs is enough to put a big dent in your opponents stacks so you still have a formidable position to fight from. IMO you should tighten up in this situation, play premiums, make normal 3x preflop raises and only shove or call a shove when you feel you are the favorite to win the hand. It's smarter to risk a 25 bb stack with a well executed bluff against one player than to risk the 3-way jam you made with AK in this hand. Self preservation is #1 with 25 bb left in a tournament with 17 players left. All it takes is one winning hand to get you back near the Average Stack Size where you become more dangerous and more capable of running deep or winning the event.

I know it was tough in the moment, but I think you could've gotten away from the A-Ko hand. It was shaping up to be a 3-way pot, and you still had a healthy stack. With your experience and skill advantage, I'm not sure I would have taken the risk at that point. But it was a great run regardless. Can't wait for the next video.

I agree, only mistake she made, overvaluing AK. That hand tends to play a lot more poorly in multiple raised 3 way pots.

Tough way to bust, Ashley. Your Ace 6 hearted hand resembled a tourney hand I had the other day. I was short stacked in the BB with Ace 4 off. MP limps, BTN limps, I check my option. Flop is Ace 8 Ace. I shove, MP reraises, and BTN calls. MP had 88's for the boat, and BTN had Ace 6 and rivered a 6 for a better boat for the main pot. Poker is tough sometimes! 😂

Hi Ash, buenos dias! I had a question for you: how many re-entries were allowed for the $250 buyin $50k guaranteed tournament? Also, do you prefer playing tournaments that allow multiple re-entries or freezeouts (I'm always more inclined to fire freezeout events, but definitely won't shy away from playing the occasional re-entry event)? I grew up watching the Main at the WSOP in terms of tournament poker so that's what I have always been used to.

Unlimited re-entries, I love all types of tournaments and enjoy freeze outs a lot! Both have their pros and cons :)

Just my personal opinion given a lifetime of AK not winning, that a 3bet followed by an all in, I'm laying down my AK in that scenario.

AK is not a mandatory Allin, in my opinion. Getting close to $$, maybe you need to think about a fold.... just saying

Disagree with your decision to call with AK after a 3 bet and a shove. You still had 25 BBs left in your stack - why risk it all against that much resistance? Avoiding tough spots is artful and smart. Self preservation is #1. Laying down AK is often the smart play in Tournament play. Why take the worst of it when you know you're not the favorite?
@ericdoheny9108
@ericdoheny9108 10 месяцев назад
Yup- AK is usually just a unsuited connector. People overvalue AK and when you 3bet preflop & connect, your hand is face up and implied value drops significantly. In many spots, AK only holds more value due to fold equity- so I’d much rather 4bet jam than call it off and you knew you were flipping with no fold equity and behind to ANY pair. I agree- bad call
@marshaadams5501

I totally understand taking the risk because you want those chips to continue and take down the tournament. Unfortunately, or fortunately for me in this case, I too would fold and find a better spot to get my chips in and I’d want to be pushing them in not calling them off. You’re an awesome player Ashley and you play aggressively in that hand like most of the pro’s would do as well so I think it comes down to personal preference. I hate AK in most spots but I hate AQ even worse! Keep crushing it! And I have to compliment you on your vlogging skills! You are so easy to watch…you move your camera slowly and when you video hands you give us all the info both verbally and visually! You are the Bomb! ❤
