The shorts are kind of dumb it helps people take things out of context why not put the original episodes without any commercials up so people can enjoy this project in its entirety
Archie Bunker and George Jeffersons were two wonderful and great characters. Despite their views and personalities they were still good hearted people and their actors brought true humanity in their characters.
@@Lolo7353zzz Yup, neither one was ever truly mean or hateful, you could sense their goodness even through their ignorance of each other’s cultures. I suppose it was that give and take type of bigotry between Archie and George that made it funny, thought provoking and even somewhat acceptable. George was never a victim of Archie, he gave it right back. In reality they were mirror images of each other.
But they evolved. You have to give people that chance! In many episodes, the Jefferson's came over for Archie's Birthday, the Mortgage Burning Party, etc. They kind of became friends. Maybe not close friends, but they were neighbors and sometimes neighborly, to support their wives close friendship, and I think they begrudgingly accepted each other. @@TheSeeker1960
That was a beautiful 'so long" between Edith and Louise. Everytime you get the chance to say I love you. Do it. It means the world to the person hearing it.
Sometimes just saying the words, is the miracle you need. Sometimes even when someone isn't being lovable, or is having problems, they need to hear it most. My parents always said it to us, and freely. It made us able to feel it, and also say it freely to the other ones we love. It made us all closer, and now that they are both gone, I can still hear them saying the words, and the hug that it brings! @@hypnos9336
These were more like LIVE plays than TV episodes, simply SPECTACULAR performances all around. The audience's reaction alone, what a treat it must have been!
Simple times? Are you serious? The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, anti-interracial marriage laws were struck down in the late 1960s. Black people were just STARTING to get rights in the 1970s and be equals. Just starting. I know people like to say Archie Bunker was a bigot with a heart of gold, but Bunker was still a closed-minded entitled bigot, and George Jefferson had reactionary bigotry to the white bigotry he grew up with from people like Archie Bunker.
Edith and Louise's friendship was always so heartwarming, while Archie and George's rivalry was always so hilarious. The modern world could learn so much from both these awesome shows.
When Archie heard George Jefferson was from 125th St. in Harlem...he looked outside, and said, "....I don't see no poiple Cadillac out 'dare." Totally 70's
Two of THE BEST shows in television history. no matter which one you were watching they were full love and made you laugh non stop and touched the hearts of every living soul god bless all these actors for giving us the joy & laughter of a life time.
Even after years I still love watching these four magnificent actors playing these roles. What great joy, and now I just remembered they are all gone...🙂😔
These shows were magnificent at demonstrating how The Jeffersons and the bunkers aren't that difference they're actually quite the same and that's what troubles them more than being different
The reason why this is so much better is because the writers focused on the characters/traits and through their issues, and resolutions, messages can be taken, instead of non stop forceful messaging of everything wrong.
A time in American TV history where humor didn’t have a stick up it’s a$$. The show let people know that violence and words were not synonymous, and that we all have similarities & can thrive despite our differences with patience & time.
Episodes of All in the Family like these brilliantly addressed race relations between white and black people, and the ubiquitous racism, bigotry, and prejudice that most human beings have the potential to exhibit.
Looking back it was really amazing that Norman Lear had the courage to make George Jefferson such a flawed man. He was one of the first black, male characters to be the center of a TV show yes instead of making him a purely exemplary role model Lear made him egotistical, greedy, volatile. Really one of the great characters in television.
How come the Bunkers didn't visit the Jeffersons in Manhattan? That would've been a great episode, if the show was The Jeffersons or All In The Family.
My grandparents were well and happy, my dad was acting like a baby infont off his mom , my mom was jelous calling him a mamas boy while we watched all in the family reruns . Now they are all gone except for my mother. Life was much greater back then.
Ooh, that bit at the end about the lady that was a maid thinking Louise and George were servers, oh my. And there went Louise's new friend. Damn. Everybody starts from somewhere. Only a very few are born with the silver spoon in their mouths.
