@@goldenisaiah4347 I’m probably in the minority as I don’t apply Khatz’ ideas and philosophy to language learning. I apply it to other skills such as music production, 3D design/visual effects, drawing + painting, fashion, fitness, cooking/diet etc etc. If you can imagine these as languages then yes - I am still learning a language. Lots of them!

Its kind of cool to see these really old videos. Seeing a video have to be broken down to several parts is quite a relic of the old RU-vid. If only RU-vid could now work on a video finding system that separates entertainment and information.

I hated that too. At least we have playlists to put them all in now

Really really good advice. I think the same thing. It's basically a matter of hours... expose yourself to thousands of hours of Japanese, and you will learn it. It doesn't take genius, it takes thousands of hours... Now someone has to make a video on how to motivate me to put in the hours.... here I am watching English videos when I should be reading manga. It's amazing how even fun things feel like work when you attach a "should" to it....

That's just the thing, you don't *need* a class, and that's what he's saying. Just surround yourself with Japanese long enough, and you basically learn through osmosis. Also, he says in his blog that he grew up in Utah. You should read it. If you like this little video, you should really read it, it's really motivational.

Lot of people consider it to be one of his worst books but I still loved it considering I've read the entire Asia Saga. Rumor has it that a lot of it was put together from unfished manuscripts seeing as how he died of Cancer either right before it was published or immediately after. I honestly suggest reading reading the entire saga. I've still yet to finish Whirlwind though, it shifts to Iran after being set in Hong Kong and Japan. Compelling reads though.

I really like listening to this guy speak I justy watched all 3 parts but i came back here to comment, where is he from btw? He should teach an unconventional Japanese language course where he talks for a while and explains stuff and them shows like japanese T.V. or like plays music and stuff and then analyzes ut. I would totally attend his class.

Would I be able to live in Japan in a one bedroom apt. transferring a retail job position out there working full time? Are they anal about the amount of people living in those apartments? (My guess is yes on the second question considering the jokes they put through on anime but I wanted to get that confirmed...)

dude, but this is one of my concerns....let's say, you do a lot of listening...and just listening...isn't it all gonna be gibberish?? i mean, how are you supposed to learn with just listening? or is it that, listening is just to train your ear on how the language sounds like...and then from there, move on to reading and writing?? cuz i don't know ANYTHING in japanese, and if i just listen, i'm not gonna learn anything =/ can you help me out please? :)
