A compilation of all songs by Jaskier (Dandelion) in the Netflix TV series The Witcher Season 2. Timeline: 0:00 - The Golden One 3:20 - Burn Butcher Burn 5:57 - Whoreson Prison Blues #thewitcher #jaskier #thewitchersoundtrack
I mean, in the context of the story, the narration often puts him as the one who *wrote* the books, similar to how LOTR has an in-universe explanation of being a translation from a copy made of the Red Book (written by Bilbo and Frodo, and later filled in by Sam and a later historian or two), the Witcher books are written from the perspective of Dandelion, and the narration in Witcher 3 is explicitly from his point of view (Geralt rescued me from the Witch Hunters outside Novigrad, etc), which contextualizes the story as one that he is telling. Hell, even in season 2 of the show there is a meta joke about the timejumping at the start of season 1, which (although being a 4th-wall break) kind of shows most of the story of season 1 as being the story as Dandelion tells it in ballads. Of course he's gonna be everyone's favorite, he's the one telling the story!
@@graemeblakely6688 huh i didn't even know, thanks for taking your time to explain that. Makes alot of sense when i think about it (i have never read the books so)
@@RickLeMon 🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh hell nah more like if I could what I’d say after the day I’ve had today (also I’d settle for interchanging myself and Geralt in s1 the scene where he knocks Jaskier down a peg 😅
I know right jaskier was one of my favorite character from the show, now yes ciri and yennefer are both beautiful actress but none of them have the sense of humor and friendship jaskier have.
Jaskier's a singer not a bard. I mean he's supposed to be a bard. At least according to the books he is. But on the show, Joey/Jaskier is without a doubt a singer and not a bard. He's singing to music, not reciting poetry. Nothing wrong with that might I add. He does a great job. I love his songs. And the showrunners have Americanized -much- -most- all of the Witcher by this point so it's not like we lose anything particular from him not being a proper bard.
@@bakersmileyface Well, yes, I do agree. It wouldn't be suitable though, to make him more of a bard, cos then the "traditional style ballads" would be kinda difficult to listen to. Moreover, songs are a way to promote the show as well. Long story short, I know that Netflix won't make a perfect adaptation of the books, so I read them instead of nitpicking the TV show. And well, I'm grateful at least for the fact that I discovered Joey's band, cos TAD is one of the best things which happened to me last year
Didn't think I'd say as I wasn't sure where they'd take him from season 1 to 2 but Jaskier is becoming my favorite character in the Witcher, I love his energy and the effort made in playing his role!
The show fucked up so bad by having jaskier and yennifer have more chemistry and a closer bond with eachother than either has with geralt.... They really should not and I hate yenn still I adore them togeather in season 2
Yes but a thing like this might be a bit difficult. Because the songs of the witcher and the rights over these are owned by Netflix. They were written with the instructions of the scenario of the serie so that's not songs made before the show by Joey and bought by Netflix. So he is just the interpret of these songs, the perfect one, but it makes that an album will be by and for Netflix. And by the way, selling an album of his contributions to the Netflix's series will be a solo album because his previous albums are with the band The Amazing Devils (excellent, just go listen them that's poetic, epic and with a bard mood).
By far one of my favorite characters, he comical yet can be serious an this growl in his voice with the passion of his music the bard is SUCH a good touch to the story. His music makes it mwah
I found their songs about half a year ago and I've fallen in love with their recent album... Needless to say, it's one of the reasons I loved Jaskier in season 2 ❤
what i love about Joey is that his voice is actually beautiful! You can hear the difference here and on the show which he actually sings live, and you can see that on burn butcher burn, his voice is way more powerful on the scene than here!
I still find it hilarious that Jaskier and Dandelion effectively get to write history however they want, regardless of how it actually went. Fools indeed, if we think he landed two huntresses.🤣
Jaskier(who is same as Dandelion) does indeed write whatever the fuck he wants, and his ballads became legends and those legends became myths. Several centuries into the future a sorceress named Nimue along with her assistant Tilly set out to discover the history from the myths. Rediscovering the legend of Witcher Geralt and Ciri from Jaskier's possibly falsified accounts is basically the over arching premise of the franchise. Basically, the stories within the universe exist because Jaskier wrote them
I think the funniest part is that yall keep saying "Jaskier is dandelion" and while yes, you are correct, Jaskier is one interpretation. Dandelion is another. Jaskier in Netflix is.... well, a bit of an ass at times, tbh. Now I Know dandelion can have his moments, but they're more trying to silver tongue his way out of trouble, not cause it.
He'll definitely be there didn't you notice that the bald mage was talking about jaskier last season ... He gave jaskier his ability to perform an now he wants his payment for doing so
i wish they played longer versions of the songs at the tail end of an episode or two, like during a montage of shots, like they did with toss a coin to your witcher at end of s1 e2. whorseon prison blues is so good...
@@xeno1068 yea but in closing credits that most people miss.. I was saying if they played something as a backdrop to a series of clips etc it would've been great
He has only 3 songs this season and honestly it’s a damn shame. So talented I just keep coming back to listen over and over again. Burn Butcher Burn is my favorite, but all 3 are excellent.
0:00 The Golden One 3:20 Burn Butcher Burn 5:58 Whoreson Prison Blues God Jaskier’s amazing. If you like these I recommend listening to The Amazing Devil, joey (Jaskier actor) is a part of it, and it’s good!
They really did pick the PERFECT JASKIER WITH JOEY BATEY. I can't imagine anyone else being able to play his role, the burn butcher burn just sent chills through me hearing his breathing and how broken he feels. I love him and Jaskier is by far my favorite character of his. If he wasn't in The Witcher, it just wouldn't be as amazing. I was so conflicted lol I was singing, screaming along, burn butcher burn but then feeling terrible because I love Geralt, but then I'd sing and love it and just kept feeling torn. But that was the point. Thanks for this video!
Don't worry, if they follow the books Yen, Geralt and Ciri are all separated soon and Jaskier and Geralt form a little superhero gang to track Ciri down.
Am I the only one who thinks that 'Whoreson Prison Blues' would be perfect for the old 'Firefly' series? With the strings performance and the talk about freedom I can easily imagine a group of Browncoats huddled around a campfire or in a trench on the battlefield singing this song in defiance of the Alliance.
I've been listening to his band's (The Amazing Devil) albums on repeat since the first season came out and I found out Joey Batey had a band. 10/10 recommend
Exception: Arcane. It has 9 songs, each in a different style/genre that perfectly fits the scene. I mean, there's a reason why it dethroned Squid Game when it premiered
I love that Jaskier's two songs written about/because of what happened on the mountain are "i had a threesome" and one of the most devastating breakup songs of all time
I'm surprised they didn't change the actor from Season 1 to be honest with you. Or at the very least make him look older. I mean he was supposed to be 18 in S1. And then in his 40s in S2. They didn't even make him more tame and mature. How strange.
@@bakersmileyface it's not strange. People don't change so much, look at Paul Rudd :) Joey is almost 33 and people look young at 40 now (actually 40 is pretty young in general). And why should you change the best?
@@leem.5917 Yeah. Season 2 Geralt and Yen are in their 80s as well might mention. I can't remember but I think Vesemir is about 150 or something. Merry Christmas!
Jaskier seems to have an odd fondness for necks. In the episode with the dragon he complements the two bodyguards necks, and doubles down on it with the lyrics of "the golden one" and he also makes a comment in another episode about Yennifer having a "weird neck" (or something to that effect) at another point in the series.
Let’s be honest, the fact that these songs have more soul and better tunes than some of current songs out on the billboards really goes to show the talent of the song writers and performance of Joey Batey (Jaskier). Remember to toss a coin if you can If anyone needs me, I'll be at the bar.
God I can't help but love this Bard...the Withcher would be far less without his humour and outrageous talent. Take it away Jaskier 🌟✌️🙏Bring on S 3, 4, 5....xxx
There are a lot of comments mentioning it already, but just in case someone sees mine and not the others, if you like Jaskier's songs, Joey is in the band the Amazing Devil, which is really great and has similar vibes as well, so it's not like an entirely different genre. I'd even go so far and say that the Amazing devil songs are better, but that's just my personal opinion.
Can I just reiterate how wonderful it is that we got Joey to play Jaskier. I CANNOT imagine the vibes another artist would give off. This music helps sell the story of the show so well.
As amazing as some these songs are there are many songs on The Amazing Devil's albums that are even more enthralling. All 3 albums are great but The Horror and the Wild is my favorite. Been obsessed since I found them less than a week ago.
I've met some bards along my journey in and around Sword Coast when I was young. Some of them aspired to tell the tales of legends to many. Sadly not many of them made it. It's good to see Jaskier gains recognition among general population.
Burn, butcher, burn I hear you're alive - how disappointing I've also survived, no thanks to you Did I not bring you some glee, Mister "Oh, Look at Me?" Now I'll burn all the memories of you All those lonely miles that you ride Now you'll walk with no one by your side Did you ever even care With your swords and your stupid hair? Now watch me laugh as I burn all the memories of you [Spoken] Ladies and gentlemen You have been the most beautiful audience! Remember to toss a coin if you can If anyone needs me, I'll be at the bar Burn butcher burn What for do you yеarn? It's the point of no return After еverything we did, we saw You turned your back on me What for do you yearn? Watch that butcher burn At the end of my days when I'm through No word that I've written will ring quite as true As "Burn" [Outro] Burn, butcher, burn Burn, butcher, burn Burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn Watch me burn all the memories of you
Honestly, when I started watching season 2, my expectations for the songs was low. Because they were so great in season 1! No way to come close, or so I thought. But holy crap, excuse my language. I am SO hooked on these season 2 songs. 🤩 It's FANTASTIC! 👏🏻👏🏻
