I wish they would release vintage episodes online. The year I want is 1982, especially the Silver Kane storyline and the Jenny and Jessie go to New York storyline, plus all the other stories, like Tad seducing Liza's mother, ect. I remember Agnes Nixon asking people out there in the world to post vintage episodes of AMC on RU-vid. They have, but VCR's were very expensive in the early 80's. It wasn't until 84, 85 that they were affordable, so those early 1980 episodes were never recorded by the public, and those were some of the greatest years.

Benjamin reminds me of some of the patrons on The UK Soap Opera Eastenders in the 1980's. Also Daran Little not only wrote for All My Children he currently writes for Eastenders.
Julia Barr's Daughter Alison would also play for a brief time "nice" Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light. Then in the UK Phoebe Dyvenor is a icon on Bridgerton and her Mother Sally has been playing "Sally on Coronation Street since 1985.
It's not. Four soaps exist now, as of January 2024: The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), Days of Our Lives (NBC), General Hospital (ABC), and The Young and the Restless (CBS). I wager their days are numbered because of low ratings.

The Extras on UK Soaps are just as great. On Eastenders (1985-Present) there's an actress named Jane Slaughter who plays a Barmaid named Tracy. Others are Cindy, Winston, and Shopsy. They are either in the neighborhood walking around, or run their market stalls.
In the 1980's when they did an AIDS Storyline on Eastenders Peggy Mitchell shouted at Mark Fowler to get out of her Pub. He was actually HIV Positive, but she came around. He "left" and died offscreen. Also Eastenders have had the saddest Xmases where all kinds of bad things happen, Losing their home, their marital betrayal comes to light, or a wedding that is a disaster.

Grandma Kate would be blown away at the No Nonsense words of Lou Beale on Eastenders where she had the pre-intervention with her Family telling them to get themselves together. Another Mother was Annie Sugden on Emmerdale who didn't mince words with her Son Jack who left the family in 1964 and came back in 1972.
I think they were the only Teen Couple who dealt with Vietnam. Then many years later so many Soaps dealt with the issues of Veterans many of which fathered children.

They skipped over the Martins adopting Tad & Jenny after they were found abandoned in a park. They were abused. And the father, Opal's ex raped Ruth. This story was very important & tragic - and turned out well but after a lot of work obviously- so Erica's story wasn't the EPITOME of tragic stories. The MARTIN & TYLER families WERE the base families, And Jesse's & Angie's families were right there with the Martin family from the time they were young too. The Courtlands & Chandlers came in later.
