hi friends, I’m visiting my family this week/weekend and I’m almost totally unplugged and off social, as I often am (this video was pre-filmed and scheduled to auto-post). I just now got the heads up about a really troubling photo of one of the owners of OFRA. I want to iterate here that white supremacy at any level is absolutely reprehensible and I’m feeling particularly sick right now imagining how painful and invasively unsettling this likely feels to many of my beloved friends and subscribers who are people of color. I’m thinking of you today and sending all my love. In the past, seeing racist images from white brand owners has caused me to entirely lose my taste for using or featuring products by that brand. I’m certainly feeling that way today about OFRA. I’ve seen a statement from the brand which indicates that they are in discussion about a course of action, and I will be attentive to this, but right now it’s difficult to imagine filming with these products in the future. I’ll be keeping an eye on the situation as well, I try not to jump to conclusions quickly, and see how thing pan out before I make a decision. They could very well let the founder go, and revitalize the brand. Just gotta wait and see.

@@EmilyRedeker sadly the VP (David Gaito) is the husband of the president and founder of the brand (Ofra Gaito). Seems like he’s a co-founder too, but the brand About page really emphasizes Ofra and her history/qualifications in the cosmetics industry. So… it’s not really clear whether removing him is something the company would be able or willing to do since it’s essentially the Gaito’s company. Unless they’re going to pull a KVD

@@bentleym3726 they continually have funded Trump who pushes lies and defends racists and he’s flashing a hate symbol. This didn’t happen 20 years ago. It happened recently. It’s far past second chances. The fact you want to forgive this only says a as lot about your true colors. Makeup and upholding racisms is more important to you I guess. Sad

The best part of seeing Hannah open up the lip glosses is hearing which ones have the loudest suction noises when opened. Idk why but it's a very satisfying sound.

I know many are curious about Hannah's response to the Ofra situation, but based on her comments in previous videos I'm pretty confident that this was pre-filmed well before things came to light. Ofra also only addressed things on their Twitter, so it's possible that people aren't fully informed, especially if they use social media infrequently. I don't have Twitter, so I only learned about the situation from the responses a few other creators made because I watch a lot of RU-vid

I hadn't heard about it until Lauren Mae beauty posted on her community page. As an Aussie who doesn't frequent Reddit etc I'm ashamed to say I didn't even know that symbol had been used for that purpose, so I've learnt a lot.

It’s really interesting to watch this, because I’ve been watching you since your no buy year and that’s when I started buying makeup. I notice some things of yours that I’ve bought, some things of yours that I’ve bought and passed on, and gaps in your collection where you had something that you decluttered, where I still have it. Gives me feelings about how my own makeup style has developed (turns out HLP editorial looks aren’t my fave on me, as much as I tried them!). The caveat, of course, is that I really love your style and still occasionally buy things you show in your videos. As always, love your channel, especially these nice long videos with sped up makeup packaging sounds

I would recommend getting the spotlight wand. The Auric Glow Lust in the new shade of Morganite makes CT look not as nice. The Auric is perfection.

Hannah, I would love to hear your thoughts on the Ofra situation. I've been appalled by the lack of understanding in the community (from viewers) as to why some of us (including us BIPOC) are more outraged than others. It seems like people still believe we live in a 'race free' world where politics and life are completely separate. I literally cannot understand it. PLEASE, as someone eloquent and with good social values, speak on this!

Can you do a video on how you depot pans from pallettes w/o ruining the shadows? I always destroy them. :(

Most of the palettes you see her moving shadows from are magnetic palettes where the shadows aren’t glued in. A slim metal spatula or a metal pin from the back pops them out easily. Now if you want to depot single shadows to house elsewhere or anything else glued in you can but it will destroy the original packaging. Place a piece of parchment paper on a hair straightener and turn on. Gently place the single shadow on the parchment and set timer for three minutes. Be careful to not burn yourself. Glue should have melted and you should be able to depot with a slim metal spatula.
