Versa Note owner here. This was what I've been waiting for. I was ready to jump to an audi Q3, but if this is priced right and the interior is not too loud, I'm staying with Nissan. - AWD - pano roof - a little more horsepower
Are you sure about a Pano Roof. You have to deal with potential leaks, draining the tubes. I had a sunroof car before and it leaked causing the sunroof frame to crack causing over 2 k in repairs. I never want another car with a sunroof. Not worth it. Plus it takes away headroom.
@@michaelswchanI owned a 2017 Honda civic ex-l with a sunroof and never had an issue with leaks. Owned that car for 5 years, then traded it in for. 2023 nissan kicks sr. I'm so excited for this new one.
@@RenamonandLuna good to hear people are buying Nissan cars. On forums people trash Nissans. I have a Cube and Altima. I like the Kicks. Easy to get in and out of. Easy sightlines. Easy u turns and just easy to drive.
Great review guys like always!👍👍👍👍i am disappointed that the qashqai is being dropped in the North America market! That’s what i am leseing awd version but the kicks will bring both models together!!!!👍👍👍🤩😎
Great first look video. I think you are correct in saying it will bring a lot of new buyers to the brand. Personally, I think first time buyers and empty nesters in particular are going to be drawn to it. Thanks Nissan for making the Sunroof part of an optional package and not too much piano black. I am not fan of either.
I've been driving a 2017 Sentra for a while now but I would definitely consider upgrading to this new Kicks once it is made available. This new SR trim is impressive but I'm excited to see what the S and SV trims would look like as these would be the ones I would be most inclined to buy. If the speculated pricing of $23-$28k was true it would definitely be competitive with hot selling rivals like Honda HR-V, Subaru Crosstrek, Chevy Trax, Mazda CX-30, Toyota Corolla Cross and Hyundai Kona
What a difference! I was a little ‘too optimistic’ with the last/first generation. I’m not sure it exactly lived up to my/people’s expectations. It was a value offer that had a questionably weak CVT. This one is a whole different animal. I’m impressed, despite its almost cartoonish looking (but original) rear hips. Perhaps, I’ll reserve judgment this time around… at least for now. Thanks for the video
Likely a good idea to consolidate the Kicks and Qashqai/Rogue Sport offerings into the new Kicks. I see a lot of Kicks around here and some Qashqais (but not a lot, I think most move to the Rogue instead). I'm sure they will price it right and it will likely sell quite well as it looks to be well equipped. If I had to pick something I didn't like, I find the wheels on that SR trim seem a bit off. Not the design, but having a 19" low profile wheel on a vehicle like this seems kind of "boy racer" to me. I'm not sure what this new model has in the way of suspension set up, but if it has oversized wheels with low profile tires and a torsion beam rear suspension, it's likely not the best combination. I think a smaller wheel size with a meatier tire (larger side wall) would help smooth the ride out and maybe match the vehicle proportions a bit better.
Great review. Many of the negative comments about the product are both stupid and patently false. Nissan (like Hyundai and Kia) have done their homework and actually listened to consumer preferences over time (e.g., ICEs, feature-rich content, modern cutting-edge design and notable warranty programs). American and German automakers should be looking over their shoulders.
their transmissions with problem stopped with the new generations, all their new cvt are actually pretty good. I still don't know why people are still stick to stuff that are not true and keep spreading them. Would you say Kia is still as bad as early 2000's? @@melissasmess2773
Thank you guys for your presentation on new kicks, hopefully we'll see you testing it soon to give us your impression on power and driving feel, but for now I'd like to ask you of front seat comfort. You mentioned that they 1.5 in longer, but is it related to cushion length or seat travel?
I would never expect a power tailgate in this class of vehicle. I don't think most people purchasing a regular non-luxury vehicle care that much about it.
Yes. Everyone wants a low price and excellent mileage, but then they want exactly the same features of a much more expensive car, and they want a power engine that gobbles gas. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Yes, and missing some other luxuries makes me think they're going to try to be the price leader. Good strategy I think for a company without the reputation to demand a high price.
@@DM72513no one needs this really, I rather have less options and pay less. They can offer that on the top trims for those who can't use their arms to open or close a little tailgate 😂
Thanks for the coverage guys. Looks cool. Hooefully they give it more horsepower at some point. Needs to be Minimum 200 hp too. Most US Roads are 65 and 75 mph.
Pretty nice car! I think they're gonna do pretty well with this one! I still hope Nissan implements some hybrid models in their vehicles but they're heading in the right direction these past few years with the new Sentra, Rogue, and Pathfinder.
Is it the same size as QASHQAI, same motor and CVT? It looks GREAT 👏👏👏 I drove Nissan car since 2010, Altima,Sentra and 2 QASHQAI but I changed mid-march for the KONA EV ULTIMATE 🤔🤔🤔
Did you notice the legendary automotive journalist Sidharth Vinayak Patenkar in the background in your video. He is also part of the team of jury of the World Car Awards.
Design looks nice, but touch capacitive buttons are a big let down, the 19” and 17” wheels even are probably too much for a safe drive on pothole riddled streets. Love that they at least have an optional spare. Legroom doesn’t look good considering you fit in the back only with the front seat moved forward so much that the front passenger doesn’t have the armrest anymore. So overall, nice looking car, for one person, on smooth roads, who doesn’t care about touching the hvac controls or radio.
Last gen Kicks and the GM Korean 3cyls were on my short list before buying a '23 Soul S. The last gen Kicks' cvt and 1.6 engine combo was thrashier and the interior way under the Soul's quality. Looks like this gen more than caught up and would be at the top of my sub compact CUV list.
They have really changed the front and back, alot. I kinda like it, but like that they didn't change the inside alot and glad to see they don't have an pad resting in the middle of the front console. I like how these cars handle and I may just go for the newer version.
After watching this post we went to the same auto show. Unfortunately the Kicks was locked. It would be a great car for NYC street parking. Very interested.
What do you think of pricing? I am personally disappointed at Canadian pricing for SR prem. at almost 39000$CAD it is same as Seltos SX, CX30 GT, Crosstrek limited and Kona N. Given the pricing I might skip it to be honest, I think it was a miss by Nissan
Andrea, this or the Chevy Trax? I think I would pick this with the 4 cylinder and the infotainment in this looks better too. Was not expecting this from Nissan, wow!
You’d be crazy to buy this over a Mazda CX-30 unless you need it for hauling people in the back seat. It’s down 51HP and 46TQ and has a CVT instead of an automatic. Cmon Nissan…😂
Looked nice but you lost me at CVT, especially a Nissan CVT. I know they probably improved the CVT but I’m not willing to roll the dice with my money, nice review
Nissan missed the boat on this small SUV. Compared to Mazda’s smallest SUV the CX30, with a base 186 hp, and optional 250 hp turbo, the measly 141 hp doesn’t cut it. I like the dual screens though.
People must want more distracting and hard to use screens instead of real switchgear and CVT's. Not bad looking if you can opt out of the red accents, but I'll have to pass due to the CVT and the screens. I have a new Grand Highlander and had to pull off the road recently to change radio stations because I couldn't make solid contact with the screen while in motion.
Touch capacitive buttons? No analog gauges, and now a more expensive to repair screen? Thr AWD and 2L engine now doesnt matter. I can see my in-laws, and my self, not considering this new kicks for a future purchase
It needs a hybrid option...period! Also, have they fixed their transmission issues yet? Hybrid options for nissan vehicles exist outside n. America so why not here. What are we? Chopped liver? Overall, it is nicer than the prior model but Nissan missed the boat totally not offering a hybrid. A hybrid = fuel economy and usually much better performance as the power of this mill, imo, is inadequate for anything but inner city driving.
I think you are missing the point. We are talking about the value of what one subcompact vehicle offers versus another for possibly the same price. The Kia Seltos offers every feature the Kicks is missing, that may be important to some people although it's not important to you. I have no problem with a vehicle missing features compared to its competitors if it's priced correctly. If it's priced the same with less, we let our viewers know so they can make an informed decision. At this time, we don't know the price of the Kicks but Nissan says they are going to price it competitively. The subcompact class is a highly competitive category, why not add some extra features if you are gong to produce a brand new vehicle. It's not about using your hands to open the lift gate, it's about its about some of its competitors offering this feature like the Mazda CX-30, Toyota Corolla Cross and the Kia Seltos.
Why wouldany anyone buy a bmw or merc this checks alll the boxes for an average buyer at much lower price. Well done Nissan! I can see a huge wait list for this CUV.
Don't like the CVT, but the smallish engine and probably low bar of entry on price, would be great for parents that might want to buy new car for their kid.
