Hey D! Yes......this is the key part! 🔥 I did this years ago when I started burning wood in my WSM. It gives the necessary oxygen needed to keep a clean burn going! 🔥👍 Metal On My Brother! \🔥/ You Stay Safe!
Liked and Subscribed HMBBQ. I dig the turbo, man! Liking your thought processes. OK, I have acquired two Caliente grills over time. One's a gift, the other one I bought. Will gut one to use as an extension ring. The other, I'll leave stock. This gives me a variable of 5" to 24" 'charcoal to grate' distance for direct heat cooking. In effect, it can serve as a 'Mini Chud Box' style cooker or a regular Weber Kettle as I see fit to do so. Direct heat, 'low and slow' or 'hot and fast'. You name it. It can be stacked in any way to achieve whatever is required. Dig your innovative style HMBBQ, rocket
Hey Rocket.....glad You found my channel.......I gotta lot of crazy ideas and set ups.......hope You find time to look around. 🤘 Did You see the OnlyFire kettle ring kit at Home Depot ........it has a trap door that comes in handy. 🔥👍 Also I use a ring from Cajun Bandit. com. Metal On! \🔥/
@HeavyMetalBarBQue Right on, keep the heat on, bro. Yeah, lot's of concepts in your channel. Inovative. Its soo cool to experiment. Ok, yeah, thank for mentioning the kettle ring. Interesting. Haven't cooked on a rotisserie as of yet. Maybe in dah future. Keep on keep'n on 👍 rocket.
"monkey see, monkey do barbecue" at the :50 mark. I laughed so hard, that missed the next few minutes of the video. I had to pause it, finish laughing and then back it up to see what I missed. I'm Big Lew and I tell you to do what ever you want to do, you don't have to do what others want you to do. The gizmo looks nice too, it should do exactly what you want it too. Metal on!
LOL.....Thanks Big Lew! Who knows.......maybe I'll throw some fire brick in next time? 😁 Like You....We didn't get into this to make money. That is a very freeing feeling. Keep it Metal My Brother! \🔥/
Yep You are right! This is the main reason why I bought the rec tec bullseye......it's the same size as the Weber and all my toys fit it. 😁👍 Metal On! \🔥/
Thanks Elton! When I saw it, I bought it within five minutes of seeing it! LOL. Just what I was hoping for with this style attachment. Cheers Brother! 👍🍺 \🔥/
That is a perfect setup. I looked at Santa Maria grills for about five minutes before dismissing it for the reasons you explained. I can't wait to see a cook. It would be interesting to see the results of you and Slowhand spending a weekend working on a cooker. You are so imaginative and I think he could he could fabricate anything.
You and Me both would like to see what we come up with! 👍😁 Hope You find what works for You......I'm liking this set up so far. Thanks Brother....Metal On! \🔥/
Nice! Exactly what I want. I hated the huge size of the other Santa Maria style. Many, many ways to use this too. Excited to see a bunch of cooks on it and may be grabbing one myself.
I like this a lot Ken. It does have some features that I don't have with the standard attachment. You keep modifying that baby and your county may start requiring building permits for it!!!!! Take care bud and have a great weekend!
I love open fire cooking.. My little mobile smoker shows it lol and the other santa maria I have for my 22".. I really like your setup Ken..! Great video and can't wait to see those cooks on it.
Hey Thanks Brother! So where'd You go? No Vids anymore? You out making money with that Beast of a Pit? Hope all is well with You and the family! Metal On! 👍🍺 \🔥/
@@HeavyMetalBarBQue I have some updated videos up but only been posting once a month.. I've just been very busy brother and yes I have a large cook May 1st and a grad party booked for June.. Working 16 hr days, everyday family life and the weather screws me up everytime.. I'm trying the best I can.. I do post most of my cooks in my facebook group when I don't have time to record.. Everything is going great and hope the same for you..
I use the lid from my 18 inch smokey joe when using the santa maria grill on my 22 inch to retain heat. Probably not as good as the caliente set up but works great. I certainly wished mine had stainless grates!
Gotta love stainless steel :-) Nice attachment Ken :-) I see expanded METAL!!!!!!! \m/ \m/ Great explanation on this :-) Heavy Meatal style :-) A "BIG" thumbs up :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!! \m/ \m/
I have been wanting a Santa maria attachment but I don't think this one will do it for me. I don't have the middle ring that you made out of the rotisserie. having said that let's see some Burgers on that thing! use Some RBR #1 and go to town! RTFO!\m/\m/
Hey Sal......the middle ring isn't necessary, and wasn't designed to have it, that's just me being me. 🤘 RBR#1 is a Must on Burgers and Fries! 😁👍 RTFO! \🔥/
Ken my good friend, i'm tellin' you brother, you are a genius with these grilling, smoking, etc... contraptions, & i think you you could probably name your salary with a manufacturer, especially Weber, i know you have a job, but doing this is not work to you, like the old saying, if you like what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. On this one you went above & beyond the call of duty, awesome, santa maria setups are fairly costly & i think you could sell this for less & they'd fly out the door brother, unreal
Hey Thanks Steve! Your favorite Pyromaniac is not done yet! I'll be taking it even higher very soon here. 😁👍 Those guys wouldn't hire me.......drinking beer while I create wouldn't go over well with them. LOL. You be safe and take care! Metal On! 🍺 \🔥/
@@HeavyMetalBarBQueKen my good friend, waiting on your update with anticipation, with your skills, i don't think they'd have a problem with you having a few cold ones while designing, i really don't, you are to smart & creative pal
I guess you will never have a mallory grate. I got it you dont want to move your meat. I know I subscribe but I think its for the entertainment and knowledge element. Metal On 🤘
John My Friend! You will Never see Cast Iron in any of my Pits! I got the cast iron grates from the Weber Q3200 in the original package never opened! LOL You want them.....You can have them! 😁 Metal On! \🔥/
@@HeavyMetalBarBQue Thanks for the offer. Santa Maria Grills seem romantic but you must baby sit food more. Your new setup somewhat eliminates that and you have wood fire. Are we going to be doing a butt or brisket anytime soon. Enjoy the warmer weather and soon to be Happy Easter.🤘
I love your channel but it's kinda splitting hairs between moving the charcoal or meat Lol. Also being in the barrel is a benefit to a certain extent. You have to build a smaller fire which means less wood use but if you build to big a fire there's really no way to get away from it like a traditional Santa maria. If it's a windy day just lower closer to the fire.
I hear You and I agree! Not discounting or putting down the Traditional way........I just choose to go in this direction. Only doing what Works for Me! Not Selling or Pushing any Product or any Cooking technique. I Do What I Want!......Heavy Metal Style!!! Metal On! 🔥👍🍺 Metal On! \🔥/
