Ur the best guitar teacher that I've seen on RU-vid. I love how you clearly explain the cords and the up down thing you do is very helpful to me. THANKS ELEN
This shows me how much I’ve learned on guitar in the past three months. I’m a born again musician, picked up guitar a bit over three months ago, and as hard as I tried I could barely do the chord changes on this song; at full tempo, absolutely not. So today I was a bit tired of just learning and wanted to just play something, and this time it was super easy for me to follow. In fact I went straight to the end of the video to play along with you, then played it on my own, and even added in some more interesting chord voicings and strumming patterns of my own. This is what it’s all about; pure joy of playing music, not just practicing and performing; this is why I picked up the guitar. Thanks so much for this and your other wonderful song lessons.
I've been wandering around for tutorials and now it's right here in front of me, the perfect one. I'll play this on my girlfriend's birthday. Thank you very much. May God bless you :D
I’m a professional film and television actor, and I watch a lot of RU-vid-because I’m a geek. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone so natural on camera as you on RU-vid. You’re a joy to watch. Have you tried acting? Even background acting? Anyway, the lessons. I love how you break it down. I was just thinking today, maybe I should try to learn a song a week from you, do my best for a week, then move on to the next one, and go back to improve my performances on previously learned repertoire. I did Fender Play, I’m trying out Yousician, but there’s something about how you teach me to play an actual song that pushes my motivation. Awesome.
This video about 4 years ago is the first thing i learned on guitar and what got me excited and motivated to do music. I now write my own music and perform around my city with my band quite often. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you do with this channel you really helped me grow into the musician I am now and I hope you know you do make an impact with your videos. Thank you.
I just started to learn guitar last week, and you have been an amazing asset and teacher. Your videos are well made, and your teaching style works so well for beginners like me. Also, you have a pretty smile! Thanks for the vids!
Hi Ellen, big thank you for your great tutorial videos. I started playing the guitar for the first time at age 50 and I've been practicing for 3 month now. At first, I was at loss( learn by myself was too hard) and I came across your videos. Yours are so easy to understand for beginners and so wonderful! Now I'm practicing "All of Me" and "Can't Help Falling in Love" every day and I enjoy very much. I was so pathetic player at first but I gradually improve and now I can play them VERY slowly. BTW, I live in Osaka, Japan, so please forgive my poor English.
Been playing for 16ish years now. Learned a lot through the years from people on youtube. You are the best teacher I've ever seen on here. You have a gift for teaching this craft. Bravo.
that was absolutely brilliant!! you do make it look easy but you also took your time to walk us through it.. i am really looking forward to perfecting it .... THANKS
Michel Louis One of the best music teacher on you tube. Your approach, your English your patience.. to say thank you is not enough may God bless you and cannot ask for more... very clear explanations
Thx alot I needed this bc my cousin just gave me her guitar for free and she picked me out of all of her friends so I want to show her that she chose right
Beautiful! Thanks for making the tutorial accessable for a beginer and yet sophisticated enough that with practice one could do justice to a beautiful piece of music. You are a gifted teacher!
She explains it so well! Honestly she is basically holding your hand. Simply it can't be broken down more than that. Thank you so much this was my first song on guitar:) I posted a cover of it for you to see-it would mean so much to me if you could watch it-. Edit: I don’t mean to imply that you should play it perfectly the first time, it takes time. I meant to say that her teaching is so crystal clear that only genuine interest is necessary.
I think you have some very neat skills you’re able to teach from beginner to more advanced I am intermediate and a pick up on your songs relatively quickly thank you for being out there on RU-vid also I might add that it looks like you’re having a great time keep it up thanks.
I HAVE watched your first video episode 5 before 2 years ,it was really unforgettable moment, on that day I decided to buy a Gitarre, and started from episode 1 to the end,....now I can challenge the world, my best teacher ever ,I owe you all my life. Your crazy fun from German ...much love Ellen ❤
That's so awesome to hear! 🥰 I'm really glad my beginner series was able to help get you started and I'm super proud of you for continuing to challenge yourself and learn new songs years later! 💪 Thanks for watching my videos! 💕
I’m just starting playing, and this is the perfect way to challenge myself and keep it simple! Your strategy to teach is fantastic! I look forward to sharing my progress one day!
Lovin the guitar again thanks to you. Even started my own guitar channel to put a twist on the standard guitar tutorial, Thanks for the inspiration 👏🍻🙏👍
I don't think I've ever commented on a RU-vid video, or actually liked one. But for this one, I just had to. Took me some time, but I actually learned to play the entire song thanks to you, my first full song! (: Is there a way to support you? Subbable or PayPal donations? Either way though, keep up the great work!
You by far are the most amazing person I've ever seen teach a song. You break it down perfectly, you teach it slow enough, you're cute, you sound good, your strumming and picking is amazing and I'm definitely a new long time subscriber! Thank you VERY much for the time and effort you put into this! =]
This has helped me so much: I went into playing the guitar basically blindly by watching this video. I didn't know anything. This video helped me learn guitar and I am super thankful. I suggest you watch this and her other videos because they are so helpful. THANK YOU!!
One of the most gentle, unpretentious and grounded teachers. My real life teacher is very similar, but finding it hard to visit him as frequently as I'd like. Found this video to be very useful.
Hi. It was 5 years ago when I was a complete beginner and saw this video (actually the first song I learned to play in my guitar). I just want to say thank you for your tutorials, now I make guitar fingerstyle covers. You were one of the yt influencers that helped me to become a better musician since I can't afford any guitar classes. Huge thanks to your hard work and keep inspiring people the same as how you inspired me👏.
Thank you so much for coming back to my channel after all these years and taking the time to leave me such a sweet message! 🥰 I'm really glad I was able to help you get started, and I'm so happy that you stuck with it and are now making your own fingerstyle covers!! 🙌 Truly awesome to think back and I hope you're proud of yourself because I know I am! 🎸🎶💪🦋💕
love the easy to follow teaching style and presentation format with rhythm, chords, and fingerpicking patterns. was looking for some inspiration to learn a new song this morning and this was easy to sing and follow. thanks so much.
Highly recommended!!! All the instructions are clear and helpful! First time knowing there’s so many different way of playing the same song and causes different effects.
Absolutely great teaching. Its so neat and clear that i found nothing like this kind of teaching anywhere else. I prctice this one whole 10hours in a single day and i am master of it. Thank you so much.I really feels that its not you teach how to play but you hold my hand took me a walk through guitar. There is no such perfection of teaching i could compare with yours.
Today is my first day learning guitar and I must say that it is hard positioning my fingers to get into the c chord. I am going to practice e minor which is easy and then transition to c for awhile hopefully within a month I can get it down by training my hand thank you I would love to learn this song. Oh by the way your kind of cute sorry though I have girl friend :p
I started playing about a month ago and trust me....it was hard if you're really dedicated, you'll pick them up like nothing. Keep practicing until it hurts
I've been there, I was really having a hard time with switching chords, but now it's no problem :D I just kept on practicing and now I'm having a hard time switching bar chords D:
Micscience i got my like 2 weeks ago and i am trying to transiton the chords, which i am having a hard time, but it was fun :) cant wait to learn how to play this song
the problem I have is that I know the cords but I cant go from em to c to g to d I allways stop and look at the strings to make sure its right can some 1 help
Try to repeat the chords in the same pattern in the rythm of the music. It might sound boring after a while, but its good to get the feeling! And you will see that very soon you will be able to combine them all together in your play without watching ;-) practise practise practise, you can do it! (Y)
hey man, all u need is practice. i jus tell everyone who starts off learning da guitar when it comes to chords dnt think about it and jus do it. its all muscle memory and nothing else. you will get it :)
What's the point of having Em on while I am picking the 6th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st string? All of which got nothing to do with the Em chord since it is on the 4th and 5th string?
I think its so you can transition to other chords easier, i notice it alot too because i know alot of songs on guitar, and they almost never use Em, but its good to transition to another chord... Just my advice
I've already been playing guitar for two years. I just watch these videos because they're so relaxing. And she's a great teacher. My little 15 year old can't get enough. Keep up the great work.
TimeLordWarrior Just keep practicing. It will all come in time. Don't be so hard on yourself. Just don't give up. Take her video step by step. pause it and when your comfortable? Move on to the next part. Before you know it... You will have it all down and be able to play along as well.
Bruh,i love your nickname and your a bit kate on this XD Iv already started a gutair or music aschool and im plain well! But thanks for the advice (I can see i still cant spell )
Quick question, in the picking pattern for em, you pick 6321 however the only place you put your fingers is 5 and 4 but you don't even play them so why bother?
great question! i've gotten into the habit of always putting my chord shape down with my left hand so that in case i ever pick the wrong string, it'll still sound good and i can pretend it was intentional ;) but feel free not to hold the chord down if you don't want to! you're right - it'll still sound the same either way. :)
Am Jerry from Israel studying guitar am grateful to watch this wow it's awesome I love it well well never give up sister light up your world thank you very much
I can play what you're explaining but when I trying singing with it .. it never really matches ... are you sure it's standard tuning or am I singing/playing wrong?
The best teacher I've come across so far - no ego involved, great instructions and demos, and heaps of work in each video to make it as easy as possible for the students to learn and enjoy and I particularly like to have someone who can actually sing to play along with! Thank you!!
I am having trouble switching quickly, what can i do? I have jumped right into guitar and I know all the cords but like berryblueish13 I need to look at the strings to double check, it comes naturally
That's always the hardest part, isn't it? ^^ I admit, I've gotten far better in just the past week, and substantially better in the past month or two. Good luck on your journey to being an awesome guitar player :D
You can try adjusting strum patterns - maybe one or two strums and give yourself time to switch while singing. You'll slowly switch quicker as Luker1551 pointed out. Don't give up - Your guitar will be your friend for life!
yes it is so hard without singing i can play guitar very good and without playing guitar i can sing very well but doing both my singing and playing sucks
+Fun studio production once u know your chords are down pat and become easy don't even think what u are doin with your hands and then just sing and it is easy. u don't have to have a good voice just know HOW to sing. if u learn to use a capo u can also bring it up higher to match your voice
+Matthew Darren it is just practice practice practice, at some point it will click and your brain will disconnect your vocal from the rhythm of your hands
I’ve been playing a long time. I taught myself to play this on piano but wanted to transition to my main instrument, guitar. I’m no pro so I wanted to learn it quick and this did the trick. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting 🤘🏼
Just keep doing it and your fingers will naturally find those changes. I”ve found that whenever I learn anything new on guitar, I feel like an idiot the first five time, then less so but not quite getting it, and then the next day I try it again and I’ve pretty much got it.
Jet Verstappe :I”m a novice too. The more you play, the less you will need to look. Pretty soon-probably already-your fingers are just going to naturally find their places.
the best tutorial ever..for the first time i know how to strumming the guitar with the chord. every tutorial video don't show how to strumming..no i can play the guitar.. tq so muchhhh beautiful sister
She's plucking the bass string for each chord, then the bottom 3. The bass string for Em is the 6th string, which is played open. You should think of chords as encompassing all of the strings played for the chord, fretted or not, as they are still notes being played. This is why she plucks the 5th string as bass for C (the 6th string is muted) and the 4th string for D (6th and 5th strings are muted). They are the bass notes for their respective chords, fretted or not.
c00lkatz but can't you still play this as an open chord? The sound isn't gonna change as an open chord or an Em chord and for people that can't play well (me) it's easier right?
Since you probably learned how to play the strings before you learned the picking pattern, I think that people do that to help make the transitions easier. Frankly, I think it is easier.
Best Teacher Everrrrrrr... For Beginners... I love the way you teach... How you start with slow motion and then in to fast... Any student who learned to play the guitar from you is so Lucky... I wish I was one of them... 👋👋👋💥💥💥.....
