If you wish apon a star you my get your wish. Thrawn is back , he need those type of ships he may go after the lost fleet and from what I hear it's 90%
Facts. From what I’ve heard/read, the new republic had almost the greatest navy of all time. I say almost because in my mind nothing tops the Eternal Fleet from the old republic era
That and the absolute lack of and disregard for continuity for a lof of these designs always frustrated me. I'm a huge fan of Mecha anime and while not perfect they make an attempt at keeping stuff consistent. I don't know what it is about Hollywood where there is such an absolute disregard (bordering on disdain) for fleshing out ship designs with consistent information.
The New Republic’s doctrine of having local governments and PDFs handle most issues and only calling in the Five Fleets when things got hot really made Super Ships work. They’re poor defense ships and patrol ships, simply because they can really only be in one place at a time. By having smaller ships for the smaller government dealing with most of those smaller issues allow Super Ships to shine where they were meant to - straight brawls to the death. A change from “Co-Operation with the Fed” vs “Oppression from the Fed” altered how they use a Super weapon. Neat!
This was an old Republic Doctrine. Although they lacked Super Ships. And PDFs usually does most of the fighting anyway, in nearly all factions. Even during the Clone Wars. The Rebels and the Eternal Empire being few exceptions. I’m sure there were others. The Empire conscripted a lot of the Republic’s PDFs into the army and navy. As did most Sith Empires.
The ironic thing is that all of the new republic's own homegrown superships all came about, due to their tradition starfighter centric war doctrine being challenge and shown to be lacking, when they were constantly attacked and having to combat massive imperial superships from the reborn empire campaigns right through to Daala and the black fleet crisis and beyond to the latter imperial campaigns. Leading to them creating the Viscount and Mediator classes in greater numbers than we know and others during the late new republic and GFFA era's.
Main probably with the Vong is that very little official art exists for them. You have blurry cover artwork for some ships but that's largely it. It makes me so sad that the NJO didn't get broader love. It's still the best part of Star Wars IMO.
Watching these videos and seeing all the great looking ships and untouched source materials makes me wish we could have a fan made animated series covering the Vong Era and beyond. I would pay money for a series like that.
Hey idk if you will ever see this but I am a huge fan of your work, I have 2k plus hrs on TR alone.... Anyways, I was just wondering if there was any major developments for any specific faction for 3.5 that havent been release on the Discord I mean, id love it if the CSA ship market was expanded, or the NR was rebalanced so the rebellion ships were worse while the newer NR ships were slightly buffed. Or another thought would be to make it so that the pirate bases wasnt 10x recruitment time ....cries
Lol.. wedge job Antiles must be some sort of super jedi.. I think most people are happy to conclude that the rebel alliance dash new republic wouldn't have lasted 6 months... and (not a princess) leia and her drug runner boyfriend would have been liquidated in short order.. I think a corelian republic is way more likely
Unfortunately it just never got more than a background role and a couple sourcebook mentions while having some confusing info in its few appearance. No official art ever was attempted for it
@@CoreysDatapad that's what I'm saying we only have some mentions and a shity background role to go off of good thing we have a model to work with as a reference
Didn't the New Republic also have the Intimidator, the SSD from the Black Fleet crises? I thought I remember reading that it was found derelict later on.
That's always been most of what the guides do, putting things from conflicting stories into some kind of consistent context. You could say the exact same thing about the prequels being included in guides from a few years earlier.
Wait, Viscount and Guardian made it to Coruscant? I thought they were still stuck at Mon Calamari/Dac in the distraction fleet. Guess my memory is shoddy.
I don't know if it's ever explicitly stated for sure, but we know that in the final series of battles from Mon Cal through to Courscant basically saw the GA and Vong bring almost everything still flying onto the board. The final battle of the war has characters in universe remarking that basically every ship class of the previous 40 years was present to some extent. And given that it was a battle that spanned several solar systems, that seems believable.
I may be mistaken (or making incorrect assumptions) on which ended up actually going where, I'll have to take more notes next time I read the full book. But Harbinger, Viscount and Guardian seem to have been part of the same group consistently, with Harbinger being noted as present at Corulag after Mon Cal. So they may have split off there, but the implication seemed to me to be that they were sent along with the other ones to Coruscant, albeit likely by the other routes Traest mentions. I definitely should just have said the trio was at Mon Cal though.
@CoreysDatapad It also amuses me how to ratchet the tension back up after the NR had been racking up wins or at least favorable kill ratios since Borleias Unifying Force had Kuat fall off-page.
I'd love to see videos about other ship classes! You get some channels who touch on Legends content, but very few are as knowledgeable as you and remain as willing to talk about Legends in general. Prefering to focus perhaps understandably, on content with better visual sources. But I'd love a break down of the New Class ships. Or a series on Star Fighters! Especially given how much variety you have in EAWX now!
Can agree on the high strangeness of these supposed supervessels not being of the battlecarrier kind. The NR/GFFA would have nicely benefitted with a Venator successor. Anyhow, would love to think that non-Star Wars vessels like the Orion-class destroyer from the FreeSpace duology would nicely fit in this category (carrier complements plus beam cannons are a treat from it), albeit in a bigger scale.
Design wise, the Endurance-class seems to already fit the role of a battle carrier, even if NR doctrine would end up being more well rounded than the OR.
The lack of use of the World Devastator by the New Republic was a real shame. And I never understood, with their love of starfighters, the lack of true carriers from the rebels or Republic.
I know. If they could get away with using the Lusankya despite PR concerns, surely they could have just painted a recycling symbol and a smiley face on the World Devastator and sent it to clean up Raxxus Prime or something.
The New Republic Fifth Fleet Needs an Additional One Billion Endurance Fleet Carriers, One Billion Nebula Star Destroyers, One Quadrillion Victory 3 Star Destroyers, One Billion Mon Mothma Star Destroyers, One Billion Elegos A'kla Star Destroyers and One Million Lusankya Super Star Destroyers Every 24 Hours.
The next release has the Hutts becoming playable in TR and FotR, along with the Mandalorians, Sith and Republic. These things take time, most mods never make it past 2-3 total factions, let alone the dozen or so we have already. If you mean focus on that instead of videos, then no. Video production is my job, modding is a hobby.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on how some of the early sourcebooks and their artwork gel with George Lucas’s design philosophy for Star ships. As someone who has grown up with 6 films of Lucas-approved designs, some of the ships developed for those books just don’t feel like “true Star Wars”
The mediator is so cool. I love it in Thrawn's Revenge, I don't even need to build more than one. I just use it as a command ship and it never seems to die.
Who cares. Just put a robot to conduct a Holdo Maneuver and its over before it even began. No capital ship, station or else is any threat thanx to The Last Jedi. End of discussion. And YES. A droid can achieve 1 in a billion chance. Thats how code cracking works. And if you argue that isnt in universe. You just make sh!t up to justify The Last Jedis awful writing.
This was a really cool, in depth look at the superships. Really enjoyed both of them! I definitely wouldn't be averse to more factional ship class render videos in the future!
@@jonashemmingsson7301 ya I'm sure it wasn't the first big ship vs big ship fight but as far as I know it was the only time two SSDs of the same class fought each other
What fanboy crap are you talking about? I only used fan-made visuals when there weren't actual visual references to go off of, and when I did that I explicitly pointed them out.
I hope this is bait because dude, most ships don't get proper descriptions. Unless they appear in a source book, good luck getting real images or numbers that aren't long held fan designs or theories
