I was a broadcast journalist for many years. What really impresses me is you do the video and then edit your voice over. From a video point of view, it makes your story interesting and concise. But the most important thing is you have the camera running and you can put 100% of your attention on the cow and her comfort and care. You are not distracted with trying to come up with dialog. This creates the best of both worlds. We get to see what you are doing, but the production doesn't distract from the important part, assuring the cow's wellbeing.
When they get to live on pasture they scratch themselves up against trees like the bear from The Jungle Book. It’s so cute. The roller replaces that, helps them stay happier and healthier indoors

But at least he finished with Salicylic acid to reduce the pain if the cow. The other guys used Iodine and if I was the cow, I will kill him next tine I see him.

I'm not sure why I'm addicted to watching these videos. You do a great job in helping these animals and I didn't realise how prone a hoof is to injury and disease.
I still think you're the best hoof trimmer I've ever watched on RU-vid and I've seen a lot of different ones. You're gentle, you take your time and you explain things so very well.

That claw must have been pretty painful. I'm so glad those cows have you taking care of their feet. You're compassionate and knowledgeable. I love those cow brushes. There are studies showing it reduces stress & helps them produce more milk. " One study conducted in New York found that second lactation cows with access to rotating cow brushes resulted in 2 pound milk production increase and fewer incidences of clinical mastitis compared to cows without access to the brushes. Another study conducted in Vancouver, Canada concluded that cows increased time grooming by 226% (1.22 minutes per day to 7.42 minutes per day) and scratching bouts, or events of scratching, by 508% (2.96 visits per day to 9.66 visits per day)." Plus they deserve it.

I would also like to know if you could thank the farmers who allow you to film your work on their cows…I know it must slow you down a bit, but it is important for people who are removed from animal care to get a smidge of experience of the down and dirty. Started getting into bovine podiatry by watching a few clips on snapchat and then came here to this channel, I thought I had subscribed earlier but apparently the subscribe button was not illuminated and stating that I was. I have been watching for a few months now and I do like that there is no music to distract the viewer from what is actually being done and Nate is quite knowledgeable and informative and I really love the videos. Keep up the great work Nate and keep the videos coming, I definitely enjoy the videos and I'm quite positive the cows appreciate your work as well.
Yeah unfortunately the poor girl had blood that was already there. It was just waiting to come out. He relieved the pressure and believe it or not, it is similar to when we have a blood blister. I notice the verrrrry top of the heal bulb, above the dew claws-you can see what looks like inflammation. Correct me if I’m wrong. It almost appears rubbery. That blood needed to be released. It isn’t just puss or interdigital dermatitis that needs to breath. (I’m exercising the free education that this kind man gives.)
Never any excessive bleeding, have I seen. Certainly understandable for there to be blood at times, mr Nate’s videos are more about fixing that foot than gore for clicks. Thank god

Forreal, Nate was the only hoof guy I watched for awhile. Saw my first GP video and was horrified!! Nate is also one of the only ones to spray and clean the area before, DURING, and after treatment.
This content is so helpful! We've considered in a few years moving to an area where we can have some livestock and are interested in cattle. You've provided some great information about avoiding some of these injuries that shouldn't be too difficult to implement. Thanks for the great info!
hey Nate? Can you turn up the trimming volume in the videos? i love hearing the sound of the knife on the hoof its very relaxing and its usually too quiet to hear

Thanks for doctoring these animals! I find I'm concerned about them and tell you are too! This cow had a very pretty face!!! This is one of the coolest jobs on the planet!!!!! If a cow starts pulling her foot away from someone who hasn’t done anything but put the knife in on the first draw, you know it hurts like hell. Poor girl.☹️
Sometimes cattle have blow-outs, just like overloaded trucks or vehicles with worn tires. It's wonderful to see how well these can be fixed with a good trim and treatment.
It is so interesting and informative to watch your videos. So glad that you are able to give these girls the relief they deserve. I have seen another hoof trimmer use the salicylic acid paste instead of the powder. Do you ever use the paste or would you? Why or why not? What would be the major difference in the two topicals?

Nate, big fan of your videos. I’m curious how odorous are the infected feet you’re dealing with? I know dairy farms aren’t known for smelling good, but I am so curious if this line of work requires a strong stomach when it comes to bad smells. Keep up the great videos!

You've got to be a cows best friend with the relief of pain you bring. The ground they walk on is nasty and I'm guessing you find some stinky "toe jam" now and again. Your work will truly never be done
Great video Nate! Do those hoof blocks ever fall off too early and do the owners notify you so that you can reapply it so the cow doesn’t damage it’s foot?
Does anybody else besides me actively fantasize about some scenario where we are constrained to bust out our (not extensive but probably surprisingly comprehensive) knowledge about dairy cow hoof care IRL? Just me? OK.
