I plan this to be a series that crosses all of Super Metroid hacks and brings out the very best and impressive parts of the hacks that really, really stand out as special in some way. I hope to explore them a little further and in depth, and hopefully raise awareness of just how rad they really are.
Episode #4: The Super Secret Room in Z-Factor is quite a challenge to get to. As you play the hack, you will first notice it from a locked door that never opens. Then, you meet a dead guy before Ridley who offers you a hint. Go into the Wrecked Ship through the back entrance. Doing so before Phantoon will reveal that the door is not locked at this time, and offers three items for the players trouble.
Of course, being Z-Factor, most of the time is going to be spent in Zaridia, as you have to traverse from one end to the other. This was already a challenge with Gravity Suit, now, you are armed with Just Grapple, Ice, and Speed Booster to help you prevail. Following a path of twisting turns and hidden passages will eventually lead you to this Super Secret Room.
Getting to the Room requires patience and some good skill with Grapple and Ice. It also requires some well placed Power Bombs and abuse of underwater physics. It is a challenge, and it is also a long journey, but you will be the envy of all your Metroid hack playing friends for going through the maze of Zaridia without Gravity Suit.
