I honestly thought personified fear was the creepiest because it's a sudden noise that shifts into complete silence. Made me terrified of the dark.

I know what fearful harmony was made!: Is a combination of a sound of BIOS_STARTUP_8 and BIOS_STARTUP_9, they extended the sound to a loooong sound. Then, added to the ps1.

Consoles today: Sorry, but the disk has been scratched. Try again later. PS1: *Has a seizure.*

Other Consoles: Disk can’t be read. PS1: I don’t feel so good.

i remember getting Fearful Harmony on a scratched-up Resident Evil disc. i was scared shitless.

Why fearful harmony happens: The PS tries to read data, but can't find it. Because it is trying again and again it lags the PS a lot. The sound is the PS intro but slowed way down because of the lag. Scared me shitless when I was younger

Fearful Harmony is EASILY the most disturbing. Just the very IDEA that an extremely scratched disc can cause an entire system to either die or have a near-death experience is just...*shivers.*

the reason you can't easily get the force restart error is because you have a modchipped system. non-modified systems will always get the INSERT DISC background

I'm pretty sure what happens, at least on Fearful Harmony, is that the PS can't identify the disc but tries to read it anyway. This takes up a bunch of resources, meaning the PS logo plays through but at an extremely slow speed due to lag. The result is the sound. EDIT: Apparently this guess I made was mostly right. Neat.

"Personified Fear" Sounds the scariest. Like some spirit is trapped inside the Playstation and you hear a scream of agony :P

Personified fear is the scariest error ive ever heard of/seen. The unease you feel after that REALLY hard noise is just disturbing. After that noise, You only see a black screen. Nothing. I always turn down my volume incase i get scared. So yeah.

I must correct something :) 1. Personified Fear happens also when you insert PS2 CD-ROM based game and wait about 2-3 minutes on SONY logo screen. I've tested it many times on many consoles. 2. Insert Disc/Force Restart is not a "rare" screen. It's just the same screen like "Insert PlayStation format DISC", but this version occurs on PAL models from 1002, to 5552. US and JP consoles have only "blue BIOS" from 1000/1001 to 9000/9001, but EU consoles are a little bit different. 1002, 5502 and 5552 models have "old style" tiled background BIOS, which has this "rare" error screen with black disc and PSX console pictures. In Europe only 7002, 7502, 9002 models have the "blue BIOS" same as in JP/US models with "Insert PlayStation Format DISC" error screen. Greetings from Poland :)

I will share my theory why Fearful Harmony looks glitchy: Since you get Fearful Harmony by putting in an unauthorised/DVD/unknown format disc, the PS1’s fairly weak CD reader tries to read the info off the disc. Since it doesn’t have the curly lines, the console requests data to fill the empty disc in. Instead, you get an integer overflow. The eerie noises come from the console ripping ad much data as possible to get something working. The glitchy look is coming from the binary code on the disc loading in to the memory, but since it’s not the right format, it can’t run. To remedy this, the console spews out junk data from the disc (again) in attempts to get something working. I hope this was a good read

It almost looks like the fearful harmony was supposed to be some sort of credits screen, but it ended up being some kind of corrupted hunk of junk that was forgotten to be removed from code.

Am I the only one who gets on edge, sick to my stomach, and paranoid, whenever I hear fearful harmony? This shit used to play a lot at 2:00 AM because my old PS1 had an error where it would turn itself on, and I had an unreadable disc, the open latch was hard to get, and I was too scared to unplug it... I was like 4, when it happened. It still creeps me out just as much as it did back then.

Then, PS1 try again, again and again but this cause extreme lag because he still trying to find the damn data But PS1 never find, PS1 ends doing this forever. Fearful Harmony most Likely Has It's Noise Since The PS1's Startup Sound Has The Reverse Sound Of Glass Shattering, Causing Fearful Harmony to Have The Sounds Of Windchimes.

I think the first glitch I recall was on the Tomy Granstand Pacman game when the batteries ran low. I still have that game. It still works.

Hey! I have slight problem with my ps1, when I turn it on it usually skips a sec of the intro when turning on. In other words, when I turn it on it skips a sec from the intro as if there is a glitch/bugg just before it starts. Then the screen starts “bouncing” up and down so to say, but I just touch the cables and that quickly solves that problem. Any help perhaps?

What Fearful Harmony does: the console tries to read the CD-ROM data, but it appears to be scratched. The PS1 then gets corrupted by the invalid CD-ROM data and ends up glitching the Playstation audio driver, thus making glitched corrupted Harmony from the startup but looping it due to a error, and the console still wants the data so it continues to read the disc.

The creepiest one is the longest one from the PSX. Now that made me flip my iPad off mah lap! XD
